Get real. We are talking about the gargoyles, not the statues built to resemble the gargoyles much as the ones in Notre Dome. And I don't understand how a stiff flying bucket is original and fun. I'm glad at least you like them but can't figure out why. I'm all for innovation but making something have an ugly and idiotic look(as the vast majority thinks) instead of a beautifully sculpted one with intricate designs and good animation can be refreshing. It is downright [insert degrading adjective] to try to be original this way and cheap as well.
I wouldn't say that but the cleric(obvious warhammer ripoff) and treant changed look in the last minute changes so that we wouldn't accuse them of copying others

Elvin: While I do not fully agree that Gargoyles are good looking, remember that they are not "organic" and not animated by magic with dexterity (though the flying animation is jerky). They shouldn't be fast flyers or dexteritous fighters either. Somewhere in between

They weren't. Gremlins are experiments on demon-blood like Orcs. They were never in Sheogh (Hell), but the coats are a nice reminder of the origin of their blood

I still can't understand why Master Gremlins look younger to you. The fact that you can't see their skin under their hat, doesn't mean that it's smoother than that of a gremlin.

Say what? I never mentioned what they should be, just what they should look if they wanted to make them better. Most notably, the animation, the semi-stoney texture and graceful carving instead of a distasteful unadorned and devoid in any kind of artistic sense, cubicle with wings. Whether they are fast or dextrous is another matter.

The Gargoyles looks like stiff green smile with a pizza menu in front of them! but their dwelling is great, but they not my type of Gargoyles i must say... The upgrade though have that great feature of CHANGING colour!! ... and Zombielord their sound is a total rip off from the wyverns from HoMM3, which many of the sounds are! ! (Nival make your own sounds, and Ubisoft dont give them the old sounds let them make a product for them self?)
I was just thinking? where do they keep their elefants ? or do they just ride down those stairs with them?

There are some stairs here and there.
Elephants fly with no wings, of course.
In fact, they are mages polymorphed into such wonderful, but heavy, creatures.. in the city they are polymorphed back.
Just kidding, of course.

I've seen many version of gargoyles, and none of them were even close to the Academy's gargs. So I agree with you, VokialBG, that's how gargoyles should look!

Personally I like the gargoyles from Heroes II the best. A
nyway this is a fun thread...can you imagine how an efreet would look, it would also have that squashed head and big hands...what does a djinn need such big hands for anyways?

Meanwhile, that's a review of Academy creatures.
But I see this thread goes pretty well, meanwhile.
If you want me to do that, I will do another thread like this one, just to another thread.
Any one needs it? 
I think it would be fun to show people my opinion about designing, which is mostly the unusual point of view.
And Gargoyles comes from tombstone.
That's it.
In different places they did it like they come from the death.
Like here:
So it's wrong.
The Gargoyle comes from the tombstone and not from the death!
If it was come from the death, you wound find it in the Necropolis.

The Gargoyles are statues or tombstone or........your choice in the days, so in the days they are just stupid stone blocks, and they look like this:

BUT after the sundown in the nights the Gargoyles become real creatures, and they look like this:
So in the game the Gargoyles are creatures not stupit tombstones, so they look like my pics...
