Seriously? Alright Of all the 7lvl dudes, excluding all but the dragons. I think my favorite Dragon companion would be the Shadow Dragon...seriously, without all that armor it looks clean and shows off in fierce attitude. But if I have to choohe cause of this poll. I go for Blackie He's classic, should stay no matter what, though it seems hes black "color" greys out in time (hope he dosent grow a freaking beard too, lol)... Hope hes blacker in H6 Like the one in the mod out there!

its true. i think that heroes should do the same damage on all creatures not more on better ones.
anyway i voyed for the black dragons or the red dragons in ToE. the are aesome and has incredible attack and damage. plus that they can attack onn their first round.

I have to point out people claiming magmas are the pwnage because they can use runes are wrong.
ANY level 7 unit becomes pwnage when using runes! It's a non-argument.
It's like saying Spectral Dragons become awesome when beefed up with several righteous mights endurances and hastes. Like omfg watch them cause havoc then!!!

How about the cyclopses?  Actually without a hero I'd prefer the emerald, saphires without luck are not much to depend on.

Yeah, same for Cyclops and Crystals Without bloodrage or luck from their hero, they aint so awesome. Crystal is different actually, it's an ability. Bloodrage and Runes are added by the hero though.

*black dragon is my favourite
*magma dragon with all the right runes(charge, battle frenzy,ressurection) is a monster
*untamed cyclops with order of the chief from chieftans + call of blood from hero with goblins beside him is incredibly strong
*crystal dragons with +3 luck is good against many enemy stacks, not so good against a strong single stack enemy
*the emeralds are fast but that's about it
*if you've sustained heavy losses from one enemy stack the seraphs will finish them fast
*the archangel is a nice all round unit
*the titan and the stormlord are good units, with artificier skill they become dangerous indeed
All the others tier 7 are decent or bad (necropolis)

it doesn't matter which creature is the best without a hero because you'll always fight with a hero(only in hommmIv it was possible without); so it makes sense to take into consideration the advantages of a hero type and faction

To some extent, yes.
Runes can effect any kind of creature though, it's not limited to just magmas. ANY tier 7 unit becomes pwnage when using runes - so you can't say it's something that makes just the magmas specificly good.

since you start with a fortress it's difficult to think that you would use creatures from a second town of a different aligment wasting money and time while your enemy is ready for you(considering that you're playing a serious game)

That's not the point The point is runes aren't a specific ability of the magmas themselves.
Saying magmas rule with runes is the same as saying a random creature rules when beefing it with light magic.

It is the point because I'm talking about the real gameplay not ipothethical situations so magmas are far more likely to make use of the runes than other tier 7 units

but you cant use runes for any other town creatures than fortress. for me,strongest is overall black or magma dragon WITOUT hero these two guys makes me fear on the adv map in larger groups sometimes even lower groups.
it seems that i have really really bad luck,because crystals attack has attacked more than two stacks only 2 times of 10 and attacked against two stacks only 1 of 10 times. -.-
