Most wanted neutral creatures

There are many old time favourites, currently not in the game.

Which creatures would you like to see again, and what would be their specials and stats, level etc?

They already made: Phoenix, Elementals, Death Knights, Mummies, Wolves and Manticores.

It's a shame if old veterans like the Medusa and Centaur should not do a comeback

Perhaps they will appear in the stronghold?

I miss gorgons, wyverns, basilisks.. all my beloved fortress castle. Neutrals.. hmm.. Azure dragons.. and my favorite Megadragons (although they didn't fit the game - overpowered thingie with stupid name, but I loved their sheer power ) could make a return. We miss REALLY strong neutrals. Sure, there are phoenixes here, but it's just one unit. They should really give as at least 20 neutral creatures more..

I agree with Doomforge! Bring the old Fortress creatures!! Long live Greater Basilisk!! The kings of defense! Turn to stone bastard muhaha!! But well, we miss like tons of creatures, we need all the good ones from all the early games, the new dungeon has almost none of the old creatures... so those we need, stronghold but we almost know they come(?) what the little weak halflings? Just something to crush and destroy for fun?... Muhaha... So many things we need...

The dragons where are they Azure, Rust, Cristal

And all my neutral races:

7 races x 4 creatures = 28 neutrals

For the old Fotress... I want it like a normal race!!!!!!!!!!

I must admit I miss the really old ones who have been there since Kings Bounty or H1, like the troll, centaur, rouge and nomad.

Since the chances of seeing the Stronghold again is pretty convincing, I reckon we will all see a new faction of orcs & goblins, so them I am not worried about.

But, yes - more neutrals - and recruting places for them as well!

I'll put in a vote for the rogue as a neutral.  I like it in h 1 and 2 when a pack of rogues jumps out to guard an artifact.

Beholder (as at least level 6) would be my choice... we need high level spellcaster.

I don't care much for neutrals. Make them in a faction, or leave them out of the game. Neutrals are sort of wasted units, because they never really come into play except as wandering units.

But it is sad to see old creatures left from the game since not all creatures can be placed in a proper faction. Make them recruitable from the map like in H3.

Now see, this is where the logic stops for me, because why can they in fact not? I mean, there are exceptions - the mighty dragons obviously do not fit into the towns - but apart from that, I really don't get the idea with neutrals.

Its more about having more creatures to look at that you really won't be using so they feel a bit speciel ... and the neutral stuff is more to bring back all the great ones so we feel that we have a complete game..

I think the game needs more creatures like the Phoenix... high level baddies that will hurt your army even if you are very strong. Just to spice up those games that last more than 3 months... when your army gets so big that you hardly take casualties... creatures that will force you to play your very best. a shooter with fire shield... (gargantuan?) or a caster with >500 Hp? that would be nice to see late game, eventually placed on some optional quests, utopias etc.

That's why they need to be strong and cool - mapmakers can use highlevel neutrals as tough guards, and diplomacy makes a bit more worthy with powerful units on the map possible to recruit.

The word "neutral" refers to creatures not beloning to a player, so "independent" should be the right term, but this doesn't seem to have had any impact naturally. It was only in H4 that the independent creatures had an alignment, and were sort of belonging to a "faction".

Still I think, the more creatures, the better, and more special abilities. I like the idea of high powered ones, perhaps not as crazy as the azure dragon and the megadragon (but they fit into certain campaigns).

I think it is a shame that none of the old heroes made it to H5, so I am hoping for most of the creatures to do so. But H5 have much more consistent factions with less room for special creatures, so in this way the only way of letting them back is to make them -neutral.

I agree with that: High powered neutrals are unique, because they allow for something that's not included in the factions, and that's probably the place where I can see an idea in including them. So, if I should vote for my favorite neutral to return, that would be the Fairy Dragon, because it was such a fun creature: On one hand it was a really nasty caster, and pretty tough - and on the other hand, it was not completely overpowered like the Crystal Dragon. And you could exploit some unusual tactics against the Fairy Dragon (probably the one place where Anti-magic really worked wonders!).

On the other hand neutrals of levels 1-7 are somewhat wasted on me, because they could have been in a town - and if they have some really cool new ability, so much the more reason to include them in a town rather than to "waste" it on a neutral. Sure, there were some cool creatures in Heroes 3 that didn't make it into Heroes 5, but on the bottom line, I'd rather have a consistent and exciting new world than a complete remake of the old one.

alcibiades you're forgetting how much work it takes to build a new town. you need heroes, racial skill, perks, history, graphics and above all, balance. it's much much harder to build a full fledged city, with balance between casters/shooters/walkers/flyers/1tile-4tile creatures, than some random wandering monters. plus you can add some cool new abilities that would be overpowered to put in a town (sorta like the lifedrain for the fallen angels, which is totally cool but totally owerpowered).
