hey, man, btw, I have a question that was troubling me for almost 20 years, lol. I've passed the entire game up to mid-level 12 in about 30 mins, but I've NEVER went past the mirror image (or is it supposed to be his soul?). I used a cheat code to get to Jafar (he was a joke!!!). Btw, the princess level was complex too!!! Have you managed to pass that one?

Yeah, I finished the game with no cheats, or maybe I should say WE finished the game with no cheats, because all the family was involved in this one too. The mirror image at the end was my dad's idea, he said:"if it's a mirror image it supposed to do everything we do - let's sheathe our sword..." and so we did and the image united with our character and boosted our life points.

Oh, also, try Goblins sequels It had 1,2 and 3. Oh, and also if you liked that you may also want to try a Russian game called "Petka and Vasili Ivanich spasajut galaktiku"

I've seen the sequels but haven't played them too much... yet.
And I played on of the "Petka and Vasiliy Ivanich ..." games, I think it was saving Alaska, but I'm not sure. And it is a hell lot harder then gobliiins, but just as fun.

Oh yeah, and I found this site where you can download DosBox and most of the dos legends that are now considered abandonware. I'll post the link when I find it again.

Edit: And here it is: abandonia.com

I am back, now I have used DosBox before, yes, but with Crusader: No Remorse and Crusader: No Regret, it is unbelievably laggy, incredibly if you ask me.

It is basically unplayable, just to say the least, so I never have used it again.

Have you tried playing around with BOSBox settings? Did you give the game enough memory? Did you remove all of the unnecessary components? (Like PC speaker and modem emulation?) You can even try to remove sound blaster emulation since it takes a lot of CPU power. Also, try the obvious one - increase the frequency until your displayed CPU usage in the Task Manager is above 70%-80%.

You can play them all now!

Since all of these DOS games are old and not on sale anymore, they become Abandonware which is good, because you can download them for free! Just go to Abandonia.com or Google it and you can download as much DOS games as you like.

By the way my favourites are Prince of Persia I and II, The Lost Vikings and Warcraft. I also liked Eye of the Beholder.

Have you ever played any DOS games that you would like to share here?

Well I do, and here are some of them:

Blood

I never got the chance to buy this game, but I wish I had.

This game is awesome, and is also a shooting game.

I only had the chance to play the demo, 3 levels, and the last one was on a train, which was my personal favourite.

It has good graphics and excellent gameplay aswell.
I like how you can shoot the heads off the creature's, and then you can kick them around, like a football.

It is really a good game, and yes this one ofcourse has blood effects in it.

I also like when you can set one of the creature's on fire with your flare gun, and they make the sound's screaming in pain, especially with those creature's on like the first level who speak very weirdly, and are in cloaks, that is pretty funny.

Overall a really nice game, but never got to play the full version of this game, which is quite a shame really, cos it was very good as a demo and would have been wayy better as a full version.

Crusader: No Remorse, and Crusader: No Regret

These were probably my favourite game's all of time.

These game's absolutely rocked.

It had superb graphics, and excellent gameplay, and it also boasted some good techno music aswell, techno/electronic stuff anyway, but I really enjoyed listening to the awesome music while I was taking out the enemies, was very very very fun to do that.

Unfortunately I cannot play this game anymore, which is a great shame, because I would love to play this game just one more time.

Some of the weapons that you can have are really cool.

You can shoot your enemies and they can turn into green dust, or you shoot an enemy and they turn into a skeleton kinda thing, because all their skin has been taken away, and you can ofcourse shoot a rocket launcher or missile launcher and blow them up or set them on fire.

You can also freeze them with the freeze gun (dunno it's actual name), and you can shoot them and it makes them dissappear into nothingness, or you can just shoot them with a pistol and they are dead.

It is a very fun game to play, and this is one of my personal favourites that I was playing when I was younger.

Duke Nukem 3D

This one is an awesome game, alright graphics and good gameplay.

It is like Shadow Warrior, only, in my opinion, not as good.

It has the blood effects in it, and you can save girls in it too, supposedly they are HOT

Some of the things that Duke Nukem says are pretty funny like:

"What are you waiting for, Christmas" - Happens when you don't do anything for a long time.

This was one of the first shooting games that I got, and I really enjoyed it, first played the Demo, and then got the full version of it, and it was definately worth it.

I enjoyed this game alot, and although it may not be as good as Shadow Warrior is, it still deliver's fun and good enjoyable playing.

Warcraft 2

Yes, Warcraft 2, probably my most favourite in the series (beats world of warcraft imo), I really enjoyed this alot.

It has good graphics, and good gameplay, and it is one of those better games that I have played, and I got this quite a while ago aswell.

You can play as either Orc's or Humans, but I personally prefer playing as Orc's.

Some of the things that some of the units say are pretty funny like:

*Humans*

Peasant: "Helloooo"

Swordsman (cannot remember name): "Stop clicking me"

*Orcs*

One of the special units, forget name: "Slice and Dice"

Death Knight "yesss massster"

This game really is enjoying to play, and although I have not yet played this with battle.net, I am sure that it would be a good game, because for me, for singleplayer, it is an awesome game to play both graphics wise and gameplay wise.

Really good game in my opinion.

Settlers 2

A good DOS game, which was pretty fun, for the amount of time it lasted.

Although I didn't play this game as much as I would have liked to, the experience that I did have when I did play it was good.

It has good graphics, and good gameplay.

It is a pretty fun game to play, and I particularly enjoy watching the villager's or whatever you call them, do all their daily activities, constructing buildings, and I think I even saw some of them skipping with a skipping rope, and reading and all that, might have been my imagination though.

But it is a pretty good game, and it is a pity that I cannot play this game that much anymore, simply because it does not work on this system anymore (damn windows 2000, cannot play any of these DOS Games under DOS anymore).

But it has good gameplay and good graphics, a good game

Raptor: Call of the Shadows

Another Top Down View Flying/Shooting game, although this one isn't as "Cartoony" as Tyrian is, this one has much better graphics, good music and good gameplay aswell.

I do not know what I preffered more though, although I loved Raptor and Tyrian very much as games.

This game, has much better Graphics as it is not as Cartoony, and it has more Realistic Weapons, such as machine guns, Missile Launcher's, Laser's and all that kind of stuff.

And one really cool thing called the Smart Bomb I think, and you launch it, and when it blows up, every enemy craft on the screen will blow up aswell, not including your own ship though.

This Game, you can destroy thing's on the ground, such as bridges, houses, car's, and all that.

There are evn some enemies on the ground, like tanks, boats, etc etc.

There was some of the same stuff in Tyrian but you couldn't destroy bridges and houses and all that kind of stuff, although there were gun turrents and all that.

Although this game has good music, it isn't as good as Tyrian is, and with every game I have, I would like some good music with it, instead of having to play a game which has the most tedious music that I have gotta listen to, but that is just me.

All in all a very enjoyable game, very good graphics, and good gameplay.

Good game to play in my opinion.

Hocus Pocus

Now a different kind of game again, but this one being a 2D Side Scrolling game.

You take on a Wizard named Hocus Pocus (obviously ), and you have to defeat some Dark and Evil Wizard (forget name).

There are 4 worlds that you have to travel through, although you can pick anyone that you want, but it is better if you complete them in sequence (world 1, world 2, world 3, world4).

Within the Worlds there are about 9 or so level's, and they progressively get harder (sort of), and at the end level you have to defeat some kind of boss creature.

Although not having the best graphics, the music and the gameplay are good, which is a pretty good thing.

Most 2D game's will not boast the best graphics, but Hocus Pocus is pretty damn good if I must say so myself.

Boasting some pretty challenging thing's, like trying to avoid swords coming out of the ground, and having to jump over lava, and all that, it does make for some pretty enjoyable playing.

All in all, a good game, with good gameplay, good music, and average graphics (not the best, but not the worst either).

A good game to play

Now it is your turn, what are some of your favourite DOS games that you have played, and give a little story about it, what it is about, and what is good about it and all that.

Looking forward to your responses

Raptor I remember something called with that name oh yeah it was
KABOOM!!! (with very loud noise) the game we used to play for hours and with our brand new joystick it was like a real arcade game. (Plus it had a weapon that could turn your enemies into laser cows. What could be better than that?)
Just amazing.
I remember when I beat the game with only normal guns and shields.
Damn that was hard!
Too bad apogee is still selling it(so its not abandonware)

Blood was ok I quess.
Just Wolfenstein was a lot better
and doom
and heretic

I don't think I have to say anything about crusader do I?
Self explanary.(no idea how its spelled)
Well try it if you haven't.

Duke nukem 3d and duke nukem 1&2 were good ones

Warcraft was really good except for one thing.
It was perfectly balanced.
The most annoying thing.

Settlers rock.
All of them.
Number 3 is the one
but 2, 4, and 5 are also great

Hocus pocus was nice for the time not my favorite 2d action though.

That was Jazz Jackrabbit.
You just run shoot and jump in this game.
The screen shows only your dude which covers half ofthe screen and little to no other stuff.
Very fast pace.
Good game.

Dunes and C&C were great.
C&C I still play a lot(Number three coming out in march whohoo)

HOMMs of course

I have played Cosmo too.

Both Prince of Persias
The one hour limit was very very annoying

Lost Vikings, Lemmings, Supaplex, The Incredible Machine, Curse of Enchantia
Strategy(puzzle) games I liked most.

Human anyone?
This was awesome game.
You were a human in prehistory and tried to survive and go on with your life.
Very good puzzle game.

Nuke wars.
Name says it all.
You choose a leader and bomb your enemies to dust Last city standing wins.

Aladdin
2d platform game.

Turtles.
The one were you moved in map and had little stages to get through. You could also switch your turtles anytime to use their different advantages.
I think it was also made for NES.

BUBBLEBOBBLE
True arcade experience.
you control a bubble spitting dragon and try to get trough all 100 levels(I think I got to level 87).
Simple. Fun.

Star Control 1&2
Good games to play. You are a pilot in spaceship saving humanity as usual. Travel through planets explore them and fin new races and so on.
If you are interested Star Control 2 has been remade by the name Ur-Quan masters which is freeware.
Definetily worth a try.

Simcity and simfarm, simant
You should know these and if you don't think about simulation and the last word in name.

Worms
You got to know this one(was the first one on dos?)

Ughlympics
caveman olympics nice one although it will consume the last life from your keyboard.

The ultimate game(s){too many variations to count}
Nethack
If you don't know what this is shame on you.

If you are thinking where I get all these names from then hack my computer and check my hardrive
