Empathy+Armageddon+Phoenixes=Devaste
The Dwarves have a great ability for spellcasters - Empathy, which make the hero pop up 10% on the ATB each time a creature gets good morale.
If you should be so lucky to get hold of phoenixes, and have a morale value of 5, they will with their iniative of 19, each time you move them 50% of the time make your hero pop up. This has the same effect as sorcery.
If you in addition have expert sorcery and max phoenix units which moves every turn you will be able to cast spells with an astonishing ratio! With Armageddon you can cast it all the time (and having ignite as well makes the enemy take damage between rounds as well).
This could be a super-strategy if you are able to get those phoenixes.
With Lava dragons it takes longer time since they have an iniative of 10. Same applies to obsidian gargoyles, black dragons and so on.
Where can you recruit Phoenixes? Are they only available through diplomacy? I hope they get their own dwelling.

Nice idea! However, sorcery, destructive, leadersip and summoning combo(You'll never get phoenixes through diplomacy and even with summoning you may not get the spell) is a bit tough to pull off. And misses some other good skills, even crucial. Good thinking anyway!

I tried Empathy in the campaign. It is not bad but it's not an "uber" skill. The problem is that it takes a lot of levelups to get it.
Getting phoenixes is almost impossible, but you can do it with magma dragons, too (of course their initiative is not so high)

yea it could work.. If only rune patriarchs were 100% fireproof.. Hah, imagine it: Mark of fire+armageddon (better than empowered spells bwahaha) and ignite with HUGE initiative (add the +50% dam artie and go pokemon )

You forgot two more things:
Empathy+Armageddon+Phoenixes+Destructive_Magic+Master_of_Fire=Devaste
And you allready have to have the Destructive Magic to get the spell.

Empathy: 13 skill points !!
Destructive: 3-5
Summoning: 3
= 19-21 skill points!! At the time you get it, most of the game should already be over, you don't even know that you will get all the skills you need
and you need armageddon and summon phoenix spell. Besides you probably want Sorcery and Rune Magic, too...

Thanks for the replies guys
I'm mostly thinking huge maps and campaigns, but I guess I can kiss the hot phoenix dream goodbye. Have to do with Magmas!
-Spoiler-
I devestated Lazlo army in the HoF campaign with only 7 Magmas using simply armageddon, no empathy or sorcery. I didn't even had Ignite. That was fun!
-Spoiler end-
It's irritating that empathy demands mentoring. Mentoring is also nice, but not very relevant for this. Guess they had to balance the stuff. Without the Phoenixes, Empathy isn't anything near an uber-sorcery skill. With 6 Magmas and a Morale of 5, providing the magmas move every turn (and survive!!) it compares to simply Expert sorcery
(30% ATB movement on average / round)
And yes, definitevly I would like to see those runepriests casting mark of fire between the armageddon showers. You could always gamble, using the elemental immunity rune!

I almost forgot, I wrote a few things about empathy before. I even calculated some stuff just for fun:
Quote: assuming you have 7 stacks which all don't wait or defend, you get 7*2/3 = 4.666 boosts for your hero every round.
This is just slightly more than you get from expert sorcery, but of course both effects stack.
You see the effect of Empathy is very depending on your creatures' initiative. Unfortunately, Fortress creatures have low initiative.
So what is the maximum you could get out of that ability? Ok, take 7 stacks of phoenixes, you cast Mass Expert Haste. I'm not sure how much initiative bonus is possible with artifacts, let's say 40%. So the phoenixes have (1+0.4+0.4)*19 = 34.2 initiative. 7*3.42*2/3 = 15.96 => your hero had an effective initiative value of 25.98 ;-)

That would seem like fun to achieve!
