Quote: How can you take all the credit!!! We danish people has, if not as much, more to do with the northen mythloligy!! We we're the first vikings and we owned Norway(how did we lose that, and most of sweden, btw we want it back ) so we made the northen mythologi with all those creatures... So don't take all the credit, but lets agree.. The swedish people, has nothing to do with it (all that mostly fun, I just say a lot of harsh things)
OK, the Danish were also great Vikings, but I sincerly doubt that mythology around dwarves living inside mountains could ever arise in the flattest country on earth
(By the way, you didn't own Norway, it was an alliance)

HEY! SWEDES HAD A LOT TO DO WITH IT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
NOW GO AVAY!
Also: the Viking Faction:
1) Troll/Troll Stone Carver
2) Ulfsark/Bersark
3) Karl/Huskarl
4) Viking/Ancient Viking
5) Great Cat/Giant Cat
6) Valkirie/Valkirie Sheildmaiden
7) Frost Dragon/Niddragon
Racial Skill:
Composition: The Norse find music to be the greatest creation ever devised. They value it more than valor in war or beauty of face and figure. Their heroes are chosen not for their skills as much as for their abilities in composition of music. The tradition of composing music have been handed down over the generations, and somewhere along the line magic got mixed in with it. Thus, in times of war, the Vikings will use war songs that can power up their warriors. Heroes can compose songs like this:
Step 1) Entering a town and clicking on the Silent Halls buliding in the Longhouse.
Step 2) The Hero produces Music.
For instance: Typing
l l A S l k
S D F A k j
translates into
g g A B g f f
B C D A f e
a = a
s = b
d = c
f = d
j = e
k = f
l = g
; = Rest
Step 3) The player sets the length of each note:
4g 4g 1A 4B 2g 4f 2f
2B 4C 4D 1A 1f 1e
The number indicates the denominator in the type of note:
1/1: a long note
1/2: a mid length note
1/4: a shorter note
1/8: a quick note
The player also sets the tempo: Allegro, Andante, or Largo.
Largo
4g 4g 1A 4B 2g 4f 2f
2B 4C 4D 1A 1f 1e
Allegro: Light and Quick
Andante: Moderate Speed
Largo: Slow
Step 4) The Player previews the music. If he/she likes it, he/she sends it to the production office (the computer computes the effect of the music)
This peice has the following qualities:
Slow
Rolling
Slow: Increases Defense
Rolling: Causes random increase/decrease in speed.
So, During battle, when the Hero Plays the song, it raises the Defense and every other creature gets an increase in speed and the rest get a decrease.
Fast: +Attack
Moderate: +Accuracy for Rangers, +Initiative for Non Ranged
Slow: +Defense
Rolling: +/- Speed
Repeating, with Rests: +Initiative
Repeating, without Rests: +Hitpoints x 10
Driving: +Speed
Step 5) If the hero has better than basic composition, he/she will select which instruments will play:
Basic:
Drums: Duration is 0.50, +1
Lute: Duration is 1.00, +0.75
Advanced:
Trumpet: Duration is 0.65, +1.50
Flute: Duration is 1.50, +1
Expert:
Conch: Effect lasts for 3.00 turns, +2
Opera: Effect Lasts for 2.00 turns, +3
Ultimate:
Lyre: Duration is 3.50 turns, +2.75
Horn: Duration is 3.00 turns, +3.25
~~~
Basic Composition: The Hero can select one instrument. He/She can write up to 2 lines (6 bars) of music.
Advanced Composition: The Hero can use 2 instruments. He/She can write up to 4 lines (12 bars) of music.
Expert Composition: The Hero can use 3 instruments. He/She can write up to 6 lines (18 bars) of music.
Ultimate Composition: The Hero can use 4 instruments. He/She can write up to 8 lines (24 bars) of music.
~~~
Repeated Music: If music is played several times over in seperate battles, it will raise morale. 4 times: Morale +1 8 times: Morale +2 12 times: Morale +3. However, after hearing the song more than that, the warriors will get bored with the song, and lose the morale bonus.
~~~
That' all I've got for now.
Quote: Yeah, we even got our own race in Heroes now. Dwarves are pretty much norwegian myth all through!
Uhm... It doesn't really matter, since the dwarves wear kilts... I don't remember seeing Norwegian or Danish people with kilts... Or Scottish accents...
acually from Niddhogr (spelling is never the same, so get over it) the dragon that chewed the roots of Yggdrasil. Its just that Niddhogr Dragon would look very strange, but Niddragon looks Skone-ish, while retaining coolness.
also, any thoughts on the racial skill?
Of course Daystar is swedish (why else should he be insulted ) They were raiding eastwards, not to Brittania like the norwegians and danes. They even got down to Istanbul (Miklagard).
I think the Viking faction is too close up to the dwarves. And northern myth as never involved great cats. Wolves on the other hand (The Fenris for enxample). Nidhogg was Hels dragon, the ruler of the underworld. It is also used in Age of Mythology.
And regarding the kilts. That's only fashion "borrowed" from Scotland
Those cats (Freyas) are not very famous. But I guess the swedes have their own version of it
If you want cats - play Heroes 4 then (Great white tigers), if you don't consider Rakashas feline enough.
