1. who says that we make peasants for the final battle? most of the times they are sacrificed for two stacks of paladins anyway. but what about creeping? is the money they provide bad? AND they are cheap. AND they are a nice wall. AND you can use them to force retaliation.. AND AND AND

2. In my opinion, ALL monsters are useful in something, depends on strategy

3. Lastly, they are actually the only normal people in there showing us that we dont have to be super heroes to fight !

Now, now. Converting the peasants into skeletons? How politically incorrect! Let's rather call it liberating the souls of our citizens from their mortal chains, in order to make them permanent citizens with undying loyalty to the cause.

By the way, this made me recall my first fight against ghosts in Heroes 2. I had thousands of peasants with me. Speak about learning things the hard way!

I've always looked on peasans as a little more than simple fodder. They usually get targeted, ergo take the strain of my tanks or fighters and they're beefy enough to not die too fast.

Halberdiers were a nice change, but I preferred a unit that was plain and suited the 'lowest' role. (rank 1s)

That's right. You need them only sometimes as a starting creature in hero's army in some maps with more storytelling. I'm making a map (for WoG) where I boosted them a bit, to be able to use them in real battle.
