What do you think about H4 Heroes? (What Heroes might come back, etc.)

I'd just sort of like to know what people think about the destruction of the old world in Heroes IV. What Heroes do you think will carry over? Why? What do you think of the new Hero classes: Sorcerer, Barbarian, Priest? Am I being too nosy?

Anyways, I'll start off:

Since most of the Heroes I am fond of are from Nighon, I don't think they'll be harmed. Nighon is a subterranean country, therefor(I think) safe fromt the flames of Armageddon. Besides, fire travels upward, so I really don't expect it to spread to Nighon's tunnels.

I'm hoping Mutare will be back, as long as she survives her battle with Tarnum in Heroes Chronicles: Clash of the Dragons (anyone have information about that? If you do, can you please post it on my "Does anyone know what happens to Mutare" thread in the Tavern). I have an idea: Mutare, Queen of Nighon, learns that the Bright Lands, as she calls them, have been torched. She then orders all the Nighonese Warlocks to create portals to Axeoth to transport all of Nighon's ciizens to safety. I'll probably make some sort of custom campaign about this...

Speaking of Mutare, has anyone seen the resemblance between her and the female lord Hero Class? They have the same green eyes, red hair, face, etc. I'm worried, though, that the Lords might come from Academy...

I know the Sorcerer Hero class will easily be the best. All that Chaos magic! That's what I'm gonna be for Halloween!

Whew, I'm done posting now.

Ahh Fiona.. the only "presentable" inferno hero(ine).

They should bring back those ugly but cute dog faced witches from the Stronghold. I thought the game had a lot of charm with them in. There's nothing as cool as losing to a dog faced hero.

Some of the pretty babes from H2 should return also, such as Jezebel and some Sorceresses.

And Heroes should be able to look unique in battle, not just their portrait. If you have a genie hero riding a horse, you should see a genie riding a horse.. although that might be asking too much perhaps. I never saw a dragon hero..

Mephala is probably there too...

Or maybe it's her sister?

HoMM4 screenshot

Atleast she looks like the HoMM3 Mephala:

That does look remarkably like Mephala.

Sandro will probably be back, except he hasn't been in every Heroes game....Heroes I had no Necromancers. Sandro is supposed to be in Jadame with Thant in Might and Magic VIII I think? Is Jadame on the same world as Antagarich and Enroth, or is it in Axeoth?

Alamar will have to be back. He has been in every Heroes game since Heroes I.

What classes will these Heroes be do you think?

I like your idea, Jenova, about Heroes looking like their portraits. I've longed for that, and hoped it would happen in Heroes IV. Maybe, now that Heroes are such an important part of combat, they can look like their portraits at least when they fight. That'll hopefully be Heroes V.

Can I ask, Preserver, how do you crop an image like that? Well, I know how to crop an image, but then how can you post it on the HC, if it isn't in a web page? Do you have to save it as a web page or something?

Although we've talked about which heroes are coming back a great deal, here we finally have a good, reasoned argument for favorite heroes surviving the cataclysm besides 'they have to include X'. Plus, it's likely to stimulate some good discussion. Nice job.

first of all, SANDRO WAS IN HEROES I.... not as a necromancer, but as a WARLOCK!  so therefore he WAS in all the heroes.

secondly, Jadame is a whole new world.

Heroes, who have been in every game (H1- H2 - H3 - AB/SoD)...

Gem got a new look in SoD  (sorceress) (sorceress) (druid) (druid)

Crag Hack has to be in H4 (barbarian) (barbarian) (barbarian)

Sandro  (warlock) (necromancer) (necromancer) (necromancer)

Lord Haart ] made a great change in AB  (knight) (knight) (knight) (death knight)

Luna was not in RoE, but returned in AB  (sorceress) (sorceress) (elementalist)

Yog was in H1, but not in H2! He returned in H3 and SoD  (barbarian) (barbarian) (barbarian)

Since Mephala and Fiona are in, there will also be "new" HoMM3 heroes in HoMM4. And maybe some HoMM2 heroes will make a return? (like Yog did). About your question Xenophanes, I cropped the picture, and uploaded it myself...

propably all the usual suspects will be back... but then again the whole continent was destroyed.... I can only say the heroes I want to see back... not the ones that ARE going to be back...

Jenova (the best looking HoMM3 lady)
Ryland (all time favorite)
Gelu (he's fried though...)
Dracon (nice guy)
Astral (also known as Oldtimer )
Adrienne (cute.. in a fiery way)
Thant (best looking vamp)
Tamika (ditto)

BTW: do you remember a HoMM2 barbarian with white long hair, somewhat "Conan" looking?

And Gem looks very.. out of place in H3. I liked her earlier incarnations better.

What's the story for WHY the old world has been destroyed, anyways?  I must have missed that.

There's no reason why Gelu can't be back for Heroes 4!  ..is there?  I'm operating under the assumption that Gelu SUCCEEDED in getting Armageddon's Blade from the bad guy whose name escapes me at the moment... so even if the blade were somehow still activated by Gelu, it protects the user (and his army) from the effects of Armageddon.

I guess I'm pleading potential stupidity here...

The Story of Sandro

I started my adventuring life as a warlock ally in the young days of Enroth, before the arrival of the Ironfist dynasty, when the Necromancers Guild was not yet formed and we the undead were feared wanderers.

After the death of Lord Ironfist, his sons struggled for the throne and started a Civil War. I joined Archibald's side (the "good" evil side) during the Succession Wars, but we lose that war and I was forced to escape to the continent of Antagarich.

Once in Antagarich, I continued learning Sorcery as a disciple of Ethric the Wizard. He was a little angry when he discovered my true affiliation to the necromancer way of magic. It was time to find a better place to live, or should I say "to unlive"?

I migrated to Deyja, where I was accepted by the high hierarchy of the Necromancers Guild and managed to be one of the king's most influential advisor. I had a secret plan to expand the Shadow of Death over the world and seize absolute power, but my plot was discovered by an alliance of good aligned heroes: Gelu, Gem, Crag Hack and Yog. Even having forged two of the most devastating artifacts in the world (the Cloak of the Undead King and the Armor of the Damned), they managed to stop me.

Finally, some treacherous necromancers, knowing I was a threat even for them, dethroned me as a lord of Deyja and imprisoned me...

But I'll escape soon, you can count on that. and my vengeance is already coming.

Fear me, cos we shall meet again.

Sandro actually started his career since Might and Magic V: Darkside of Xeen. I remember playing that game, the little prick gave you a quest and then attacked you afterwards and was very tough to beat. He was a lich (read: floating skull) and asked you to find his heart or something, then gave you a key.

Interesting, Jenova

I once tried one of the M&M games (the seventh one, I think) but I didn't get hooked. It's the action in M&MV: Darkside of Keen, suppossed to occur prior to HOMM I?? Anyway, the facts you describe are very typical from Sandro, always a true master in Treachery & Deceit.

First of all, thank you to UnkaHaakon.

Secondly, thhanks to Blue Camel for correcting me; I have only played Heroes I twice.

What exactly do you mean by "uploading it", Preserver?

I think the Sir Gallant portrait can count for Lord Haart. Of course, I don't care much about Knights, so mine would not be an opinion to go by.

Does anyone know exactly how Antagarich is destroyed? I've seen the movie, and can gather that there's a battle between Gelu and Kilgor(or is that Tarnum?)
