for the second time...

Do you remember a HoMM2 barbarian with white long hair, somewhat "Conan" looking?

I remember a Heroes II barbarian that was Conan-ish, but he had long red hair. I think his name was Thorax or something.

white hair wouldnt be thundax since SHE(IMO) has red hair...

i believe he is talkin about ergon the barbarian.  this one i am sure is a girl. she has long white hair.. and is the only barbarian that has white hair... so i would assume he is talkin about her.

the only barbarian heroes in H2 that had long hair are:

thundax, ergon, jaclyn, jezebel
(im pretty sure im not leaving out any)

I do believe that it is Thundax. I have Heroes 2. And Jezebel is a Sorceress.

Uh ...it's hard to say how long Ergon's hair is, since his head is covered by a white/light grey wolfskin. That wolfskin may be what Lith is remembering as long white hair. And I'm pretty darn sure the masculine pronoun is appropriate for both Ergon and Thundax.

Now, in a hopefully non-futile attempt to steer us back a bit more onto the original topic, Jeff Blattner mentioned very briefly in the Gamespot preview that some of the old favorites would be coming back. The two specific names I recall him mentioning were Sandro and Solymyr (although the latter will lose his punch because of the lack of hero specialties. He may be set up special for the campaigns, however.) And I believe that Mara has said the unfraggable Crag Hack is coming back.

Me, I'm hoping Ulfretin made it out ok, and I think if anyone could survive a world-devastating, cataclysmic blast caused by two potent relics destroying each other, it would have to be Thorgrim.

yeah

Ufretin is a pretty important hero, i think it would be great if he came back.
I also like Thane to make his H4 debut.

Jezebel is actually a barbarian.. I know this for sure, because I remember her for being one of the prettier barbs (were there any other female barbs? Can't remember).

Sorry I couldn't remember Thundax's name(barbs all look alike: hairy, smelly, greasy, ugly, etc.); however, now that you mention him, I remember Ergon.

I've heard other places that H4 Heroes don't have specialties any more - is this true, UnkaHaakon? I kinda liked them...

Yep, it seems the days of 'hero specialties' are gone ..probably lost along with their luggage on the way to Axeoth.

However, I'd be willing to bet that whatever heroes do cross over may be pretty special in the campaigns. I mean, it's hard to picture Crag Hack starting from scratch yet again. He should appear as a pretty darn tough Barbarian right from the start. And, would the mighty Sandro be reduced to skeleton polishing detail again? I hope not!

And as for Ulfretin (pretty much the unanimous choice for worst Ranger in HOMM3), well, I'd like to think he'll be off raiding Magic Gardens and visiting windmills in Axeoth. I just hope the leprechauns don't get too tough for him. Maybe he can get a side job running a Dragon Golem .... I wonder if they take smokers?

sandro....

One thing I don't understand is how Sandro would've made it to Axeoth...

If anyone has played the SOD extra campaign, you would know that in the end, Sandro was captured by Finneas and imprisoned...

but then, Sandro is also in Jadame for M&M 8

Would anybody be able to answer this question??

a couple of other heroes from h2 that would be cool to have back...

wrathmont - the only black male hero(granted there were a couple of black women that were sorceresses and one that was a necro) in the entire heroes series, cmon guys we need some ethnic diversity! plus the little purple hat thingy he wore was cool.

falagar - the coolest goutee ever!  that was my fave warlock in h2.

gotta agree w/jenova here...definitely jezebel... the only good looking barbarian, jaclyn was alright..

SARAKIN! my favorite h2 hero period.  he was a mysterious wizard w/a twinkle in his eyes... he was just the coolest.

Astral - best looking sorceress hero... thats the only reason why lol

many other h2 heroes need to come back i just cant think of them now, lol

Master Genie,
Sandro can be back because he escapes from jail. Keep in mind that everything that takes place in SOD is before ROE and AB. In one ROE campaign, Sandro is freed. Therefore, he is free to help Deyja conquer Erathia in ROE, free in AB, and free to go to Jadame, and then to Axeoth.

UnkaHakkon(you know, that name sounds awfully like "Uncle Hacking" ),
Where do they tell about Heroes having no specialties? Is it in one of the Jeff Blattner movies? Sorry, but I'm still just typing here in disbelief...
