Might over Magic reduces the enemy's spellpower by the barbarian's spellpower, it's not uber since barbarians don't have a huge spellpower but it can be a pain with artifacts that boost spellpower.

Problem is, Barbarians get XP from spell shines as well so they will level up much faster in the early stages of the game (and a Barbarian's first choices should be Memory of Our Blood, Expert Blood Rage and Might Over Magic). A low level Warlock won't have plenty of mana and if the Barbarian has Might Over Magic spells won't be of much use.

IMO the Dungeon can be a real pain if the Stronghold hero doesn't have shatter destructive. Other than that Dark Magic (regardless of spellpower) is much more dangerous for the Stronghold.

Um... should I be afraid of Orcs now?

Is there a town which Dungeon would have the most advantage? Early game, Mid game and Late game?  Or the game is really balanced that everything is equal.  Let's just say this about good dungeon player vs good x player.

I think maybe Inferno (though Deleb can be a pain).   Early game, Haven perhaps (not positive).  Maybe even mid game.

Late game Dungeon can be tough, if they have kept enough of their creatures alive and can get enough BD.  They are still some of the strongest creatures (Black Dragons) in the game.

There is a little "exploit" with Phoenix and Elemental Damage. If your ele-dmg kills the stack, it get's ressurrected and then the normal dmg get's applied, killing them again in the same attack. No Retaliation and only one time fire-shield dmg

You should win without much problems vs. necropolis (except when they do some weird midgame rush with shackles), haven (if you attack early), sylvan (if you attack early), inferno (if you blast the familiars with a hit and run first or do it early with ice spell+cold death to stop deleb), fortress (if you attack early) and orcs (if you attack early). Academy will most likely overpower you at any part of the game, although your chances are highest early-to-mid (they are not high, though). You will most likely lose versus endgame stronghold with shatter destructive or endgame fortress, if they have runes of ressurection, rune of elemental immunity and dwarven luck. It's rather an even matchup against sylvan, even in endgame, well the longer the game takes, the bigger advantage is at sylvan's side.

Not that "endgame" varies between maps.. on that newby hourglass, endgame occurs after a month or so, but on a poor and big map, it may take much longer to level up hero to high level and get all the endgame features (level 7 upgraded units, best skills etc.).

In other words, you can beat everything excluding academy with ease if you attack early enough, with a powerleveled warlock. Things get worse on two castle maps, and rather hard on three castle maps.

Doomforge, i wasnt speaking about hourglass only. On almost any map that has an utopia you can reach 40+ spellpower in week 4-5. warlocks luck isnt worth it  in most games because you desperately  need other skills to be more effective in rushing. i wouldnt waste 6 lvl-ups to get warlocks luck because... i need 5-6 on destructive, 5-6 on enlightenment, 4 on logistics, 3-6 on sorcery... i dont have enough time to take luck too and i wouldnt leave out any of the afore-mentioned skills and perks. i simply dont have time to get to warlocks luck.

The way I'm seeing it Dungeon is much more restricted than the other factions when choosing skills at level up.  That makes it less fun.

samiekl, I just don't like the maps you play, it seems. Any map with an utopia is automatically broken to me (utopias are too easy to clean and give too powerful rewards - like a staff of neverworld for might hero in a might vs. might matchup).

Warlock's luck used to be a great pick in vanilla H5 and HoF. But with all the prerequisites, I see that it can be better to ignore it in ToTe. After all its even more rush crazed than previous H5 games.

I haven't played much with warlocks in ToTe to be honest. I somehow preferred other, more fun castles. Since much have changed, all my previous playstyle and experience may seem a bit noobish nowadays. Too bad I don't have time to test it further. Oh well

well, i like those maps because dungeon can be inferior there, thats how i progress. its no fun for me to play on typical rush maps (rush possible in week 1-2), because dungeon clearly has an advantage there (in my opinion of course). As i said before, lots of things changed in tote and new strategies are required.

Anyway v3zow what do you prefer for haven, light or dark magic...you didn't mention any magic skills.  Against Dungeon I'd go dark...

The game has only been out for 1.5 years.  Past heroes games have nothing to do with being good at this one.

Yes, this thread is for Dungeon Strategy. Their are ample of threads about Haven strategy, take a look through the Table of Contents to find them, if none are readily available on front page.

Thanx for the advice! I totally forgot the utopia underground section on the map, and btw I chose defense 'cause next level-up I could get last stand which can save your @$$ in certain situations. However, vs AI it doesn't count too much. I'd like to play vs human players, but the game hasn't been released here yet. Lucky non-Hungarians...

Thanks for the tips! It's very helpful.  But maybe I should give up using Dungeon in TotE since everything seems to change... a lot.  Maybe I'll try another faction until there's a way to make Dungeon become as effective as before in this expansion.  But I think invisible creatures are fun to use!

I have another problem...how to make banlance between the creeping and magic learning.?

I mean that Dungeon need high level magic to rush.but most time your will go too far away for creeping to turn back to learn magic.it aways delays my paln for rush..

do a full circle around your castle creeping everything around, learning destructive asap and building guilds, that way you don't have to return later to learn spells..
