IMO dungeon alternatives are decent and ok for specific situation but i prefer old upgrades . Agreed with samiekl about stalkers/assassins and with okrane for furies (take them beacuse of their init; +health of sisters are great but this unit die quickly nevertheless), foul hydras acid blood isn't bad but i take deeps regeneration + enraged, brisk are ok too but i take grims rather cuz think raiders charge is great, for minos i'll take their alternative anytime (taskmasters are great - better att, def, damage, init, health, aura of bravery), love mistresses but prefer matriarchs and black dragons are

Red/black dragon is an example of well balanced alternative. Both have various roles. Red dragon is more of an offensive weapon with better init, decent special and the possibility to be righteous-mighted; black dragon is sturdy and more reliable (no need to worry about dark magic, for example). Of course it's hypothetical, because dragons hardly make a difference on many maps. But it's still well balanced nonetheless.

To the most I agree, however I still believe Furies are overall much better than Sisters no matter the opponent.

That's only partly true. As Samiekl said both are usefull.
Personally I use furies only at the early game. At the late game when I'm to fight a big army I prefer to have Sisters by my side.
Furies are very fragile and can die spontaniously. Sisters are more durable and that difference in initiative isn't so high IMHO...

I wish i could show you a replay where sisters were more useful, but forgot to save it. Riders charge is good, unless you cant use it, and you wont have the chance to use it vs sylvan for example.

Both die easy. That initiative is VERY important vs certain factions, but it wont be a big deal vs other ones.

In my builds I base on casting. That's why durability stands before initiative for me...
Iniative is good if you base on melee or make a hybrid. Moreover 5 Hit points is 1/3 of furies life...
And here's an old jewish proverb (changed a bit of course): having 5 HP and don't having 5 HP is 10 HP if you sum up ;P

Lesij mentions the old turtling method, samiekl It worked well in the early days of H5. When I started to play full-caster style with dungeon, people still played this faction like they did in h3 - focusing too much on creatures. I'm don't want to say I was the precursor of this style, but it was something rather new and focused on defense and HP of the creatures paired with "defend" command active all the time while the warlock kept casting empowered spells (and later on, empowered lucky spells, since lucky spells and empowered spells were exclusive until like 1.3 patch or so)

It worked quite well!

I used to attack, do some serious damage, run and rehire, only to return again.. and again.

Those days it was one of the better strategies around. I used to win most of the games :-X

Now it's totally outdated, though. Ah, good old times

What happened that now it isn't so efficent?
I play orcs now simply all the time so I'm not very up to date with dungeon

...maybe TotE changed/evolved gameplay but IMO warlocks are not hybrids, they are old school (boost your stats quickly and erase your opponents with spells )

Hybrid is always the best (except orc and dwarf, they still do well without magic, esp dwarf)

Not advised to go without magic really Just as hybrid is not always the best.

I finished the entire HoF fortress campaign on heroic without taking a single magic school on wulfstan for the heck of it.

Rune magic and might.

That is not for you or anyone else to judge. I made no implication about the use of the aforementioned build in a multiplayer game against human players. In addition to that it may have escaped your attention that I had added "for the heck of it" which should be crystal clear to all but the most befuddled of minds. Have a nice day.

The best argument would it be when two very good dwarf players would play the balanced map, one would make hybrid- another one pure might dude...
And only then it could be chceced I think...
