goblins... i love'em.

we pick up what you leave behind!

the colonies
AKA: the goblins
associated colours: green and red
worship: Gods are for morons!
core philosophy: scavange, recycled, recreated.
country/kingdom: None of your bee's wacks
Capital city: alright, i'll tell you, the under dive!
symbols: spanner, rachet, weird tribal signs.  

goblins are the creation of the wizards from the silver cities, and are officially classed as beastmen. goblins are small creatures, about half human height, and much scrawnier. they are characterised by large ears and a big nose, along with green skin. they have large hands and long arms, but rather stumpy legs. they are rather weak and feeble when it comes to fighting, and even a peasant would have no trouble kicking one of his land. they speak in a cocky accent (for further information).

however, a goblins greatest weapon is their minds. they are devious, cunning, sly, and scheming. they also have a natural affinity for mechanics, or any kind of foreign weapon. they find uses for them, recycling even broken beyond repair weapons and armour, into props for houses, small toys, jewellry, or any number of different possible creations. Goblins have been known to never create, rather cobble together items into a whole.

another thing to note about goblins is that they have a light-hearted aproach to safety. an inventor will quiet freguently use animals, goblins, or even themselves in a mad attempt to test their creations. naturally, most end in diaster, but some survive to become famous.

the goblin culture is generally a large conviluted plot between different goblins. the saying "as paranoid as a goblin cheif" is in common use as Goblins are naturally paranoid about their possesstions, position and life. no goblin feels safe.

lvl1 Brutes -> "Heroes"
anyone who is idiot enuff ta think dat glory is in Da battle, well, we let'em die
brutes and heroes are the bravodes of the goblin warmachine. they are not as intelligent as goblins, and have over inflated egos, and a tendency to boast alot. not a good combination in the body of a goblin. their "friends" let them prove their bravery by walking into battle, armed only with a short sword, saying that they will believe that their heroes.

lvl2 Arrowers -> Crossbowers
da goblin bow ain't nothing like yous ever seen. four springy parts and two stringy parts. ain't much can stand againt it
goblin militia with a large bow.

lvl4 tunneling teams -> digging corp
I told you ta take the last one on da right!
three goblins with shuvels, spades and pick axes. they can tunnel (go underground for two turns, they can't be attacked or attack, but they can move around, then they pop up out of the ground)

lvl5 Battle kite -> death diver
last time i saw someone in dose things, dey fired a bomb inta da enemy, den crashed

large kite, tiny goblin in a harness, hovers around the battlefeild, dropping bombs, no retailiation.

more creatures and such coming soon

a mini-catapult (no name known)

some sort of digging goblin that can do the opposite of the battle dive.

Roc Rider: Hovers, thus being imune to non ranged attacks.

not really what i had in mind, seems a bit safe and not goblin-like. if it tossed back stuff they couldn't use and could fall apart any second, that might work.

this i like, a tunneling team. they should be lower down and loose some creatures during the operation.

You underestimate the might of goblins. You can't make a goblin faction if you don't respect the goblins... They're supposed to be quite cunning and able to do a lot of stuff if they are really determined.
About the "safe" catapult, you definitely don't seem to know goblins quite well... They are supposed to launch OTHER GOBLINS by the catapult Life is cheap among the goblins...
Some ideas:
Bomber - Grenadier (a guy that throws grenades)
Troll - Cave Troll (what more is there to say?)
Thrower - Launcher (the goblin-throwing catapult thingy)
Mixer - Alchemist (sort of spellcaster)

For the bomber, you could have an area attack, but in a way that causes it to hit the center with more force than the outer areas:

personally, i still think the idea of kites as a hoverer is more apropriate for goblins.

as for grenaiders, we could make the Brute explode, as they are so stupid.

trolls the goblins could enslave.

i'm not really keen on a goblin Alchemist, or a mixer.

I have some more pics for ideas.
Something like this could be like a goblin mage or shaman.

And this could maybe be the alchemist or something. He has a gas mask for working with various chemicals and has his big bag full of ingredients.

I like the descriptions...

while I kinda like to see them more tag-on to a orc faction, might be fun to see them in a faction of their own (or atleast in the fourm)

You're kidding right I mean for the love of Asha goblins aren't usually described as "smart" devious and cunning perhaps but knowing how to operate machinary! also they aren't green but can be grey orange and red they are very cowardly and will run away if things aren't looking good for them also all they have for ears are little holes which can help them sneak around

this was just an idea, before TOE was anounced.

anyway, they are my picture of goblins, more of a comedic race than anything serious. They are more likely to blow themselves up and collapse in fits of giggles than do any real damage.

still, this thread is ancient, and should have been laid to rest long ago.

R.I.P colonies.
