As you noticed already: Celestial Heavens has links to the Inferno alternative upgrades screenshots on Ubi servers. I guess there was a leak somewhere, as the info (with names and abilities) will not be officially published until tomorrow.

EDIT: After some investigation, it seems that Ubi wanted to give exclusive info to Celestial Heavens. I don't know how that should have worked, but it sure didn't seem like it! Anyway, enjoy the info, I'll put up the corresponding page on AoH as usual when we have all the remaining bits.

@Radar: What you find in data.pak is only remnants of old ideas that have not been implemented (Crystal Dragon with Crystal Scale ability, Naga).
Frightful Presence is the Nightmare's Fear Attack
Double Shot is the same as Elven double shot (Elves_double_shot is actually unused).
Count is nothing: it's the code given to the last ability: its id then gives the number (count) of abilities...

Quasit: It seems balanched, it gets 1 - 4 dmg, and loses some other things... This is okay, and i think siphon mana is some like mana stealer

Horned Leaper: This is weird - No def. same dmg, but its way faster!! - But can we use a fast unit that cannot survie? naaah, but can we use it? naaah... same as horned demon

Firebreather: what a name - Again weird stats changes, but it seems more powerful with the abilities!

Temptress/seducer(See the picture and info box): More health less ini. - But, they have changed the abilites, no chain shot but got seduce, immunity - so a bit more ability specced... maybe balanced , maybe not

Hellmare: Again great name or not. -1 def more dmg, less ini. A new aura that seems more: Fiery (but its burned out) and fear? Is that the same as fear aura? Hmm... It looks more def but its more att. focused!! cost more...

Pit spawn: Uhh, A new "creative name" - MORE Att, more def - Alot att. , same dmg , 20 more health - more speed - No spells . No Vorpal . But. magic proof, an axe - This is to me unbalanced.. Cheaper

Arch Demon: more def and att. not much , same dmg, more health, less speed, less ini. - Summon other... stronger, slower ... cheaper ... Naaah...

They seem more att focused but they look more defensive, and why do we need att. when we already got that! We need more defensive... And I think old inferno look more att. and these are more defensive!

Some more news :)

Celestial heavens got got hold of an mp3 file that has recorded Nival PR manager's talk on TotE during the recent presentation. Posted by Mistweaver.

Here are some interesting parts:

-After the creation of the orcs that helped fend off the demons they were made slaves. Naturally they revolted(after some 150 years) but they couldn't resist the humans so they fled to unexplored lands. Now they are back for revenge.

Their hero
-Can't use magic spells.
- Can weaken enemy magic (used on selected school, possible effects: lowering spell power, lowering school mastery, rising mana cost etc)
- 6 war-cries (boost creature parametres, summoning creatures)
- Unique skill: blood rage (adds bonuses to creatures while they are fighting "actively").

On their units
- Goblin (imp + gremlin): can desert, if stack suffers heavy losses
- Centaur (human + hell horse): shooter
- Orc (demon + human) strong infantry
- Shamaness: the only caster, can sacrifice goblins for mana
- Orc chief : elite fighter of orc army
- Wyvern: the only flying creature
- Cyclop: can eat goblins, can throw goblins, can damage walls

Miscellaneous
There is no background story for alt. upgrades. Disappointing though not unexpected. Not that it really matters, that's a gameplay thing anyway.

Something else that came to my attention.

Ubisoft's representative in the forums, Chris SCA said the following about the haven alternates:

- There will be no "direct IP" multiplayer game support.
- There will be WAIT button. But when - is going to be surprise.

It seems that the artifact combinations will become very powerful, 40% magic proof is pretty much already. I hope they won't overshoot it with them...
Getting 4 of them should be hard but possible in very long games when you are lucky. Expert Stoneskin & Deflect Missile for free?

I'm glad you can retrain between the upgrades, I'm just wondering how much that will cost. If it's for free, good for necro as you can raise any upgrade and just convert them to the one you want, but bad for sylvan as the enemy can change his creatures right before the end battle...

New multiplayer mode? Interesting...

Ooh and a wait button!! how innovative

I was surprised that Nival insisted on making an orc terrain while ubi wouldn't bother. And now we have Fabrice's post

It wasn't a translation mistake as it seems. Someone isn't playing by the rules...Fabrice does have more credibility though.

Only on french site, so i dont understand a thing!!! But they are out!! NECRO!! It was not ice necros, but purple!!

They seem balanced, but not sure ... Cannot read those abilities, Master lich is way better then normal in stats that is ... and Banshee is weaker ... so abilities there! DAMN YOU FRENCH!!!

My opinions:
Skeleton: OMG, it looks so evil now!  Woot!
Zombie: Nice, paler and scarier
Ghost: Wthex, why is it pink?
Nosferatu: *Bow*  Incredible!
Lich Master: Aka Captain Barbossa, he looks like he has a pirate hat on.  Else good.
Banshee: Again, why is it pink?
Horror Dragon: I like it!  Very scary.

My overall opinion is that some are good, with a nice blue coloring.  However, some are pink.  What the hex.  If they would change the clolors on Banshee and Poltergeist I would be happy, mabey Lich master too, all would be good.  Again, there are new abilities.  The price of level 7 horror dragon is at 1900 gold.

Happy guessing on the new abilities!

I'd say Sleeping Strike will be freezing the target in the ATB bar.
As for the Lich Master, who loses the shooter ability (it seems to be a rule...), I was first disappointed with its speed (for a 2x2 melee unit, it's really bad!), until I saw that he could cast Raise Dead twice!! Not so bad.

The Horror dragon's price is very low...I hate it. I had been hoping for a more expensive, but stronger one...

Some stat comparing

I personally like the purple eyes of the Skeleton Warrior...And the mace is great!
A higher damage, which makes sense with the loss of the shooting ability...Everything else remains the same...


The disease zombie...bad name, but great stats! A bit strange that they raised the init and HP, and lowered the damage! Make up your mind, an attacker or a defender!

The poltergeist: Less HP, everything else remains the same...
The looks are not too bad. I was never awestruck by the spectre's look, so I don't really care...

Nosferatu: Awesome! The long awaited Nosferatu! Not a big fan of the grey skin, but I guess I'll let it slip.
The defensive impression returns with +5hp. Lowered Minimum dmg, higher Max dmg. Nothing too shocking, in fact the extra HP makes it more difficult to resurrect them! I do wonder about that ability.

Lich master: The name and looks are terrible! And why, oh why, is he no shooter! I loved Death Cloud!
The stats are pretty much the same (+1 min dmg, that's all...), except for the whooping + 15 hp and +3 defense!
The Animate dead spell might be interesting too, I think...

The Banshee - overkill purple, btw - has some extra (10) hp as well, but except for the slightly lowered damage (-3 on both max and min, which I think does not matter a lot for a tier 5 creature), not much has changed. Il'll depend on the ability...

And last, and definately also least, the Horror Dragon. The name is a horror...Although it looks slightly ghostier - but not that horrid - as the spectral dragon, the stats are quite horrible...LOWERED HP! Come on! That's not worth that little extra damage! (+2 min, +1 max)
And I sure hope that 1900 cost price is a typo...*shiver*
That ability better be good...

Overall:
It seems these alts are more defense oriented - with the exception of the Horror Dragon -. However, the cost price has in many cases dropped. The only creature that has a raised cost price is the Nosferatu. As with the other faction, the abilities will make the difference. The Horror Dragon is just horrible...It should've stayed dead...

More HP? It's LESS HP (the Spectre has 19 IIRC)
And the damage is the same as the Spectre's (4-6)

A new interview as appeared on a russian site:

it seems that:
- "Invisibility" will make the stack invisible for 3 turns
- about 10 artifacts sets are planned (so we are missing a few!! )
- ToE is planned for mid-September
I'll post more details soon, but feel free to be more specific if you speak russian yourself.

Moreover, I received the latest Ubi newsletter today, with some info about Battle Rage, the Orcs racial skill. I'll try to find it in english (if one of you got it), or I'll translate the text from french.

- About Orcs and magic
Shamans (sort of witches) can cast Slow and Haste, and can sacrifice Goblins to replenish their mana. But globally, Orcs are oriented towards Might, not Magic, and know how to spoil the enemy spells, because of a special ability, that reduces the enemy [apparently hero and units] Spellpower by a certain percentage during battles.

- About designing the Orcs line-up:
It is necessary to say that, for example, the selection of the strongest Orc creature was a serious battle between the designers: some said that this must be the Behemoth, the others defended the Cyclops. Everyone gave arguments for his champion, but the supporters of Cyclops crushed the competition by their exceeding number.

- About recruiting alternative upgrades:
In ToE, it will be possible not only to select one of two existing upgrades, but also at any time to switch between them. As soon as the player constructs the upgrade building, he will be able to recruit both upgrades at his choosing.
Some upgrades are intended to be more effective against neutral monsters, while others should be preferred for the fights against enemy heroes.

- About the Stalker (Assassin alternative)
When using "Invisibility", the Stalker becomes invisible for the enemy for three actions. [I guess it can only be used once per combat! ]

- About multi:
It will be possible to use scripts in multiplayer maps.

- Orcs Racial Skill: Blood Rage
Blood Rage will work passively: every time an Orc unit performs an action (other than Defend or Wait), it will gain some adrenaline points (filling a sort of "rage bar"). Conversely, when staying passive, it will lose adrenaline points. Each unit will have 3 thresholds, gaining a specific bonus each time [see alexrom66 quote below for an example].

Any rage bonus will be obtained for the rest of the battle, as long as the rage bar stays above the corresponding threshold. Orcs have thus a big incentive not to stay passive in combat, as they would become weaker. The rage level is not kept from one combat to another, but the starting rage level can be increased by the hero. There will be numerous ways to influence the blood rage through hero development [maybe artifacts as well, or war cries?].

Highest rate of filling "rage bar" gives melee attack that executed by orc's stack. Middle rate of filling bar gives melee attack performed by enemies against orc's stack. Slow rate of filling bar gives ranged attack performed by enemies against orc's stack.

And there are many other actions that fills "rage bar" (almost all actions with exclusion of Wait and Defend). For example, the shamaness fill her rage bar by cast spells, sacrificing goblins.

There will be 3 levels of "rage" bonuses to stack. Bonuses will be awarded to stack automatically after rage bar is filled to certain level. First bonus is easy to get – it needs 1-2 melee attacks by stack; but higher level bonuses will require much more "rage points".

Each type of creature gives its own bonuses. For example, Orc (level 3 unit of Stronghold) on 1st level of rage gets bonuses to HP and speed; on 2nd – bonus to attack; on 3nd – Double Attack ability.

By default, the rage bar is empty in the beginning of combat. But special building in orc's town gives small starting bonus to "rage points" in the beginning of combat. For example, if that building will be built in 4 orc's towns than orc stacks will be enter in combat already having 1st level rage bonus.

she does look more human than orc... hopefully we will get the explanation soon... for all we know she is just a disgrunted human that joined the orcs (maybe turned into one by extensive use of their magic, or something along those lines, given the upgrade looks sufficiently orcish)

and fofa, being insulted is kinda overreacting... its just marketing

* Invisibility: An activated ability. When it is activated, the unit becomes completely invisible for the enemy until it performs an attack or takes a position in a tile next to an enemy unit. The stack attacked by an invisible stack can not retaliate. An invisible unit can not be the target of any target-specific effect, nor do mass spells work on it (but the area-effect spells and area effects do). Also, the Fire Trap spell can be applied to an invisible unit. Summoning spells and effects can be cast on tiles occupied by the invisible units, but the summoned effect/creature will appear on a random tile next to it. Unit movement routes can be plotted through the tile occupied by an invisible unit (i. e., its location can’t be found through failure to pass through a tile). When the movement is performed, if the invisible unit blocks the way and there is no other way, the moving unit stops right before it and performs a melee attack. For the player/AI who owns it, the invisible unit shows on the screen as semi-transparent. The ability works once per combat. The invisibility effect’s duration is 3 rounds.

* Ride-by-Attack: a passive ability. If, while moving towards the target of its attack, the Raider passes very close to any enemy creatures, it inflicts damage equal to ¼ of its normal damage on them, and then continues its movement/maneuver without suffering any retaliation.

* Acid Blood: every time the Hydra is hit, it splashes out some acid, covering four tiles in the direction of the attack. The damage of the acid is physical (the Hydra’s Attack and the target’s Defense skills are evaluated) and the damage equals ¼ of the Hydra’s normal attacking Damage capabilities.

nice abilities(guessed about hydra - how alien of it)
So basicaly the red dragon losses immunity but gains some damage which in basic form is lower than the black's.
