Probably something like this:
-All male enemy creatures have a chance to get "fear" effect after being attacked, all enemy female creatures have a chance to become "charmed" every turn. (Undead, mechanical, elemental and hermaphrodite creatures are immune to the effect)

Yeah... imagine this... hunter's turn to shoot... hmm that orc is kinda sexy, i would regret for the rest of my life if i kill him without asking for a date first.

There's a 10% chance that the barbarian gets knowledge at level-up. But why do the barbarians need mana and knowledege? Since they can't cast spells, it makes no sense to me.


Or am I missed something and there is an ability/perk/skill that uses mana?

Their War Cries use Mana. As such, they need the corresponding Knowledge.

I don't know if Nival ever thought about giving them something else then mana but I think its allright they didn't.. It would just be to much and well And they wouldn't need to figure out what to do with Spellpower and Knowledge..

I have not heard more on that and it would be unrealistic to put more in the system and still keep it balanced. As far as I know the closed demo had no other new spells.

What? It would not be hard to balance the new spells! Over the past days i made a list of my "dream" spells that I would prefer to see in TotE:

Light magic

Level 1 - Slayer (increases damage against 7th level units)
Level 2 - Regeneration
Level 3 - Mirth (the opposite of Sorrow - increases luck & morale)
Level 4 - Prayer (increases speed, attack & defense of all friendly troops)
Level 5 - Sanctuary (works just as it did in Heroes 4)


Dark magic

Level 1 - Fear (target creature cannot retaliate against enemy attacks until the end of combat)
Level 2 - Horror (target is unable to attack for 1 turn, but is still able to move, wait and defend)
Level 3 - Sorrow
Level 4 - Vampirism
Level 5 - Torment (a thing that the Heroes universe has always lacked - a spell that completely "cripples" an enemy stack - a reverse Prayer basically - decreases speed, attack, defense and damage of target troop)


Destructive magic

Level 1 - Sparks (damages a 3x1 area with low fire damage)
Level 2 - Holy bolt (deals less damage than Ice & Lightning bolts, but deals additional 100% of damage against Undead and Infernal targets)
Level 3 - Immolation (basically a lightning version of Circle of Winter)
Level 4 - Inferno (damages a 4x4 area with damage higher than Meteor Shower)
Level 5 - Deep freeze


Summoning magic

Level 1 - Displace (moves target 2 tiles in a direction you choose)
Level 2 - Arcane crystal
Level 3 - Entangling roots (renders target unable to move)
Level 4 - Bladed Barrier
Level 5 - Summon Hive (has lots of HP and attacks multiple enemies at once)

See, it's not THAT hard If I had 10 months like Nival did, I would make the spell system in Homm5 look like this and balance it. So what do you think?

waste of time - We wont see 5 new spells pr school - So ... Maybe 2 or 3 .. But 5 nope.. But yes everyone is good, except fear.. It should only work for 1 round

One example about summoning magic. Levels 1, 2, 3 reduce chance to get critical spells as firetrap, phantom forces, phoenix(early)/arcane armour(later) and therefore weaken the school. Other schools may have the same problem but that would make the game too random.
Summoning does not have many spells to depend on plus the hive would be worthless vs undead.

Edit: That said your other spells seem pretty ok.

A few things from a interview in Polish from homm5.gram.pl

When asked if ToE is the last addon the anwser is:
When it comes down to the plot you may say that Tribes of the East is the ultimate ending.

The alternate angel upgrade (Blood Angel) was celled a Seraph during the interview.

The Archer's Dream Set (Unicorn Horn Bow + Treeborn Quiver which gives all shooters in army +4 to attack and grants unlimited amunition). The set makes all shooters move 30% faster on the inititive bar, after their attack. If a Sylvan hero is wearing the set he too can move 30% faster after attack, and the Rain of Arrows and Deadeye Shot skills are stronger.

We will not see Raelag, though we will feel his presence. But for now he has something else to do.

The map you can see here http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/4846/mapheroesav0.jpg does not show Ashan after Dark Messiah. It was made early during development.

The developers want to make some patches for the map editor alone, so people can make more stunning maps, and campaigns like Legends of the Ancients.

They want the Skill Wheel to be on the game CD/DVD but it will not be implemented into the game.

The person from Nival does not like peanut butter (unless on a sandwich with strawberry jam) do not ask me why did they ask the question...

Awesome info Dexter.  I think the artifact sets are very fun for single player.

Improvements to the map editor you say?  I'll believe it when I see it.
