Biggest Inbalance Ever

HoF, "The Rune of Speed", would I be wrong to say if you face a Fortress opponent with this Rune, You're DEAD?

You haven't seen many serious imbalances have you? The fact that it is used by the dwarves that have low attack and damage should say something by itself.

You've gotta admit, Helmar with "Rune of Charge"(there,I've corrected myself)and Ring of Speed and ofcourse,expert attack, taking into account the righteous might effect,is gonna be too tough.

How bout 4k damage meteor shower for a start?

Then I will puppet master your Thanes and frenzy Raiders

Then Ill cast 80/80 att/def 1000 life phoenix

Then Ill retaliate with stack of zilion palladins killing one stack and charge and kill your dragons

Or i can use Wygnal to kill you before any of you units would get a chance to act and use ANY rune.

RUne of speed, Great stuff. But imbalanced, never. It is great when you have berzerkers, rune of speed and speciel = death of many... but as i said: Imbalanced, never.

Anyway, I really really think dwarves are unfair (not about balance), with all those cool and unique abilities only for themselves. All other factions have to live with common abilities (such as Stand your Ground), but no dwarves just have to be unique...

'Rune of Charge' spell was built for certain creatures, like the Magma Dragon.
Without it, the whole Fortress army is weak.

Dwarves are a bit underpowered. Those strong Runic spells do them balanced with the other factions.
This system was also in Necropolis, before 1.6/2.1 patch. Now Necropolis is just underpowered.

I think that this system is excellent.
Instead of having just average factions with average racial skills, we have also:
-Strong factions with weak racial skills.
-Weak factions with strong racial skills.

These are the things that make the game interesting.
They put another tactical option in it.

Removing the 'Rune of Charge' spell will make Fortress to poor faction, maybe the worst.
Troops like Fire/Magma Dragon will be very weak, comparing to other troops from the same level.

Kingdon, play with Fortress (full army), and try ignoring 'Rune of Charge' spell.
You'll see how difficult is playing without it.

Yeah, rune of charge is the best rune for fortress, from early to late, this rune is fortress life saver, it's very powerful indeed, but in the hand of fortress units that have only average damage, it's not imba. Fortress without this rune will have very hard moment.

This rune is not only for Magma dragon, bear rider also benefit from this rune, their special will trigger more often.

nono, it's nothing wrong he meant:

We have:
-Strong factions with weak racial skills.

-And Haven faction (which is strong on both points)

I think this calls for another bug-introducing-abysmal-reduced-haven in an attempt to fully put the game to balance. Don't worry, we'll get free cookies

Hn? Fortress weak without RoS ! Can you insult them anymore?!?! (Yes i love that faction, so ofcourse ill defend it, bla bla bla ) - I find it hard to get it(or atleast in my games) so i manage without it! Dwarves doesn't really need RoS... They need many others just as much, but if you got RoS that is what you use indeed... Mostly because you can destroy small armies and creeps by using: RoS, Berzerkers and Raiders . Those 2 with RoS can destroy anything... And well... Yeah.. RoBerzerking is also good for dwarves, mostly berzerkers.. Rune of Magic Control is another great one for fighting totally overbuffed foes! Rune of Etherealness  great for shooters. Rune of Resurrection again great one! and so on.... They are all importen...

IMO the fortress is not underpowered. it is OVERPOWERED

- a lot of defence
- destructive and light spells, deadly array, much better than sylvans, they have much lower sp
- rune patrairch! 12-18 dmg with cross attack!
- thousands of defenders in town siege + strong walls
- rune of exorcism
- offensive and defensive formation, ignite, mentoring, eternal light...
- warlord + luck + rune of berserkering or worse - bettle rage
- magma dragons + powerful igniting armageddon

Yeah, it's nice, but the costs.. come on.. the most expensive dwellings resource-wise, two guilds to develop (normal+runic).. The runes consume resources, too. I am able to get thanes in second week, fire dragons in third, but not the guilds. A strong attack around 4-5 week and it's just the creatures with no runes and spells, and that is weak.

Uh huh. Go on and build them fast. If you do you'll miss on the thanes which is not that good an idea. Of course they will eventually regain their lost numbers through their horde dwelling but it will take some time.

Right you are! That's a bit too much unless it is endgame. Just try to beat Ingvar in a siege...

- rune of exorcism
Actually that won't help with high lvl curses because you must have control of your unit to use it. It may help vs confusion/slow/weakness but it still costs 1 sulfur per unit(even if you have fine rune it will be costly in the end).

- offensive and defensive formation, ignite, mentoring, eternal light...
Not really gamebreaking. However ignite and eternal light is pretty strong.

- warlord + luck + rune of berserkering or worse - bettle rage
Yep that's a good one. If you get lucky. In any case the base damage/attack of the unit is not that high to start panicking.

- magma dragons + powerful igniting armageddon
Even this is not imba. It will hurt, true but not as much as one would expect.
