I'm going to give you an example
I want to make an alias called Angel. Now, I come to know the name is already taken. I want to search for him to contact him and ask him to hang me the profile if possible... or want to view a profile but I don't know how to find the user. Reloading that memberlist can be very exhausting. Or if you want to send an IM to someone who hasn't posted for some time. This is what the search option is for. I hated its lack on the EZ boards and here we can pass without it, though adding the option would be great.

This is a very good idea Milena. Myself I'd want something like this.
In the search menu I type in the UserName in a dialog-box.
I get the information which would usually be appended to each post made by that user. Now that it seems you've added the IM it would be:
A 'link' to open an IM-window.
A 'link' to the profile
A 'link' to send an E-mail
ICQ, AIM - if available.
It's not strictly necessary to duplicate the information in the profile, but it makes a nice service to do it.
Extra exercises for the ambitious:
If you want to make it more generic you could make it so that the dialog-box for the UserName works on fractions of names, and gives a list with all matching names. (Each name have the above mentioned links, or it could be presented in a submenu when you click a name.)

Yes Search Members is great!
Although I would be completely happy if one could at least narrow the list down to members where the names begin with one letter.
In fact I know that this wouldn't be too difficult to impliment. I'm not that sure if it's time-consuming though, so I wouldn't know. Basically you would only need to run a test on all objects of the member class to see if the contents have substring (0,0) being equal to a certain letter and then putting all of those members on the page. But I don't think I need to give lessons to Val.
However this is less important now that we can already skim the member list through post count and QP's. In fact I have never had to find a member that does not have enough QP's or enough posts to find easily.
