Poll Question:
Alright, the major debate- Should Dragon Golems stay?

Since everybody is discussing whether or not Dragon Golems should stay, why don't I just put a poll on that?

So, what's your opinion?

(If you place a vote on "other opinions" you should state with a message the opinion)
____________
Dragons fight, dragons kool, dragons win, dragons rule! (Darn, I'm a vampire...)

Responses:
Yes, they should be there where they are!
No, they shouldn't be there!
They should stay, but with another town, not the academy!

definitely stay!!!!

i reckon dragon golems should stay...

simply because HOMM is a game based on fantasy.. and dragon golems are definitely a fantasitical creature...

forget that their not a mythical creature.. coz that isnt what HOMM is about..

if you ask me, 3DO are being very creative to come up with new creatures not based on mythology, but still fitting in the fantasy genre...

My opinion is same with you, although I know there is a lot of people who object. Yes it is very creative, and that's part of the reason it should stay. It's also really kool and gruesome looking.

And also, like my favourite creatures, it's got "dragon" in it's name, which usually describes the creature as kool!

No. Get rid of them. Either that, or modify their design and remove that geek. I believe golems should exist, but if it's operated by a geek, then it would seem more "machine-like" than "golem-like". All other golems don't need to be operated by a man, so why should the Dragon Golem? Design a Dragon golem that is basically a dragon but made of stone. NOT a machine that needs to be manned.

But then again.. why not just call it Stone Dragon?

I doubt NWC are going to listen to our requests anyway.

P.S. Will DragonSlayer spell (and other things that grant bonuses vs Dragons) work on Dragon Golems?

P.P.S. This flood protection is mega annoying..

I don't have too much problem with the guy riding on it. If I were a wizard, I'd rather be on top of a lvl 4 creature then sitting out in the middle of the battlefield.

Stay, stay, stay

I like Academy as it is. Of course, I'm sure I'd be more fond of Preserve but it is clear dragons are going to be the most powerful unit in the game again. Titans are very weak- they have half the energy of the dragons. Everyone would prefer building a dwelling for more powerful creatures, you agree? Plus, I think they are no worse than the diamond golems. ~Dragon shrugs~

Sort of On Topic : Moderator's hat off for this one

To answer Blue camel's question (tongue firmly in cheek):
Well, I have it on the best authority from the dwarvish rumor mill that the Academy spent a great deal of thought and effort developing a spell-powered auto eject feature. Unfortunately, it's not quite perfected and the parachute bugs should be worked out in time for the release date of the game, if more volunteers can be found for testing the system. Survivor's benefits are said to be quite good.

On a slightly more serious note, I think it would be a nice bit of 'eye candy' if the death animation showed the driver scurrying off, kind of like the old HOMM2 Medusa's death where her snakey hair was seen crawling away. One can always hope that they've brought back some of the humor that Heroes 3 seemed to lack.

I'm kinda scared of the Golem Dragons...

I'm kinda scared the GDs will be too powerful, be too sci-fi, etc. However, if Jon Van Caneghem, David Mullich, Jeff Blattner, Jennifer Bullard, etc.(you get the picture, don't you?) think that it would be a good addition to the game, I firmly trust their judgement.

I like the rider scurrying off...

Did the Medusa hair really crawl away? I'm not remembering...

It does look more like a machine then a golem. I reckon they should rename the thing, like make the geek more visible and call it dragon rider, or call the current one Mechanic Dragon, or Mechile Dragon or... you get the idea. To all who thinx the rider is a geek, it is!!!
(You realise the geek is this king)
They should make the dragon golem an animated statue that's made of gold or some other material, which would be more like a dragon golem. In any case, I think Dragon golem is a kool name which could provide to be a kool creature, and it shouldn't be removed. Instead it should have changes.

Whose the person that voted on "other opinions"?? Please place a note on your message that you voted other opinions if you did...

C'mn heroes fans! Keep those votes comin'!!!

Hmm... I voted against the DG's, but after reading the whole thread, I'm not so sure...

One thing I can say, though, is I have no immediate love for the appearance of this thing, and I agree with those saying that in it's current state, Mech Dragon would be a more fitting name. The other option is to change looks and let the name remain. I'm almost more in favor of the first, actually, as I personally don't think a wizard would animate anything in the form of a dragon (you know, when it's an animated chunk of metal, shape should have minor significance, and in my universe wizards aren't too fond of dragons).

However, I'm not apalled at the idea of a mechanized dragon (more in sync with general human behavior (and wizards are, after all, human), wanting to copy everything they see, but failing miserably in recreating the dragons elegance, agility and swift deadliness, and instead producing this slow, jointed metal piece of junk, breathing fire (perhaps) and very hard to kill), I think it's a sign of the inevitable human instinct to invent, progress and "improve".

I just had a close-up view of this Dragon-Golem. It's ridiculous dude, a stone-age look-alike guy with glasses sitting in a dragon that has what seems to be springs and mechanic joints? And the teeth like nails? That is not fantasy, that's a robot!!

I wanna change my vote now! To Other Opinions because I really think they should change the look!
