I think Heroes I or II, maybe even III, could work on the DS. The top screen would display a mini-map or kingdom information, and the bottom screen would be the adventure map, utilizing the stylus like a mouse. It would work in battle too, having to swipe the stylus in the direction you want your unit to attack.

And with a map editor, no matter how limited, could be used easily with the touch screen. There's also the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for multiplayer.

That's my opinion anyway.

The DS game discs have 1 GB Memory. Heroes V with HoF and the latest patches is 1.5 GB. With some removing (like the map, campaign, and duel editor) H5 can also be played on he DS!

Also, about the map eitor, I always had this idea where you would insert you DS disc in the upper slot (the game), and in the GBA lower slot you can maybe insert another disc which adds more options anf features (like an expansion pack or something ). So maybe the map editor could be on the GBA disc, so the main DS disc could have more features on it. Just my 2 cents

Also, a lot of the stuff for HV is sound files. It the inordinate dialogue that basically no one likes anyway was replaced with text, paraphrased, or illustrated in full rendered movies that actually take up less space in the end, it would work fine.

If they had a built in Random Map Generator it would last longer.

I like the expansion pack Idea.  Also, as things get released, file storage technology will probobally allow for more space on the DS disk.

If on consoles, those consoles should really have an keyboard option, cant imagine using gamepad for homm. Else I hope homm only will be for PC.

heroes 3 will work on the NDS. it's that simple. i just want to say: with games like super mario ds and pokemon diamond/pearl and viva pinata, you should be able to make a game called " HEROES of might and magic DS. " the " of might and magic " part willl be written in pretty small letters, of course
for example:

you'll draw a course for your horse to walk, in a battle you'll tap the place you want to go, or the enemy to attack, or the spellbook to be as cool as harry potter just joking.
but in town, you'll tap the building you want to use once, you'll hold it to check why you've build, if you don't know why mana portal ( or something like it, i forgot) doesn't bring creatures, for example.
this works for creatures, too. hold your stylus at those ugly goblins to know how much goblins are blocking the way, maybe lots, or a whole clan!
if you touch the town hall, a list will appear, wich is the same as the " pc " list. touch the building you wnna build, and touch the hand with the golden coins and, voila, black dragons can join your army.

i think i forgot something , but yeah, i fogot, so...

oh! i remember! it's:

sorry for my bad language, i'm dutch.
well, i still forget something, but...hmmmmmm.

oh, yes it's the map editor . can't believe i forgot that!
still can't believe it, though.
well you slide anything you want to the destinied place, and thats it! for properties and those thingns, tap it. simple as kissing
sorry my mom always says that
hehe

oh, and wifi for...well..playing online

either that, or use the WII

to be honest, the Wii would be the best console to adapt Heroes from the PC to.

Agreed.  Things would have to be faster paced, but graphics could get so much better.

Oh, and there could be a multiplayer thing where you use your Mii as a Hero, and keep the level uping over the course of several games (it would take more to level up though) and if your Hiiro dies, you automatically loose.  The winner gets an auto level up.

personally, i think the opposite, the Wii, wouldn't work at all, the ps3 and the 360 would work wonders, however the DS would still work

I think the DS is the best idea over here=). But i wouldn't make Heroes 3 on the DS, but Heroes V then. I don't know what size HOMMV has, but it will be less on a DS-card because of less graphics. A DS-card had 1GB disc space, i believe. I think it would fit nicely on that card

It takes up ~a Gig.

Or not, I checked and its about 3!  Then again, they would probobally have less sound and things, so that's all good.  What I'd really like is a 3D heroes 3!

I think the PS3 would work perfectly for this game, the system allows for a keyboard/mouse (although you really don't need a keyboard) I don't think you can use a keyboard/mouse on the 360.

The wii doesn't have the graphics power to handle the game, Heroes 3 it would be fine, but not Heroes 5. remember Heroes 5 needs 800x600 minimum resolution to work on a PC, and personally I find it unplayable at that res. the Wii can only do 640x480 with the equivalent of a about an onboard 32mb video card.

Wii could definately handle Heroes 3 and 4 though.

360 and PS3 could probably run the game respectably at 1280x720, maybe even 1920x1080 as there is not much action going on at any point.

Heroes 3 could work on the DS.

For me the gameplay's the thing.  They could easily flatten the graphics into 2d representations for a console, even for the pc.  Maybe that would make it more playable.

What I'd really like to see is a new game that mixed elements from all the heroes games, for as many platforms as possible.  The graphics style from heroes 2 (best in series IMO), some of the gameplay tweaks of the later games etc.

Wii makes logical sense because you have a "mouse", the pointer thingy.  Others have noted the DS has a "mouse" the stylus...

I think Wii would be good, and yeah, using Hi-Def HeroesII graphics, but with like a dozen factions.
Standard, Necro, Wizard, Demon, Conflux, Insectiod, Werewolf(and other shapeshifters) and a Forg-y town.
