This not be the best place to ask but well here goes, is there also a fixed % chance that in an unupgraded stack, there will be upgraded one or is it completely random? Is there more to it than what meets the eye

It was mentioned in the "Run forrest run..." thread already.
It seems the "upgraded" thing depends on the spot those creature stack is placed on the adventure map. No specific rule found though...

It depends on the spot - you mean the terrain type, or the object they guard (arty, area, pandora etc.)?

P.S. In the thread title i misplaced 1 bulgarian letter, and thats why it looks like that. i correct it, but it still looks wrong

As Angelito said, it was already mentioned in a post b4 by Wub.
In short:
- The more powerful our army when we attack monsters, the less stack they devided (Say, when we attack with 1 peasant, they devided into 7 stacks, but when we attack with legion AA, they might be 1 stack, I may say not well, but you got the point).
- The formation (number of stacks) of neutral monsters also depends on their position on the map (say, every tile on the map has its own battle terrain and also the type of formation). There are 3 types of formation.
Type one, depends on our army size from weak to very strong, it devided monsters into 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 stacks.
Type two, the number of stacks are 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
Type three, there 7, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 stacks.
- The fact whether is there a upgraded stack among non-upgraded stacks also depend on the tile on the map. And if there is, there always be 1 stack of upgraded stack there, except the case that the monsters dont devided into 2 stacks or more.

If you found it difficult to understand what i said (as usual because of my English), you can read more on this thread:
