well storywise i don't really care how they fit them in 
and what's with people blabbering so much about nerfing stats of the renegades. IMO only Fallen Angels have stats that might need little nerfing, everyone else has stats either the same as the Haven counterpart or very close atleast.(differences are mostly in giving them bigger attack skill and lower defense skill) it's the abilities that overpower them mostly.
i really hope they go through with remaking Vindicator using two handed sword rather than sword and shield would make more sense with the cleave ability.
while im disappointed at Nival for making this decision, i can live with the renegades. cept with Battle Griffin. i still think that unit is horrible atm.

Its not just the Fallen Angel.
Precise shot is useful in very very few situations, while no range penalty is almost universally useful. For the Hunters it was alright (ignoring the defense ignoring thing which is terrible), because they shot twice, but the Marksmen skill is almost completely useless, sure you can take Marksmen to you Utopia, but you'll just switch them all back to Crossbowmen directly after.
The Zealot has Blindness, 3 castings of Blindness. That alone is overpowered, in my opinion that is far stronger than giving Pit Lords 5-6 castings of Meteor Shower.
Although it is still the weakest level 1 and it doesn't matter, the Enforcer is completely superior and would always be chosen. Really many people don't upgrade so they can use the taxpayer ability, with the Enforcers they don't lose anything.

hehe i hope you read my message again, because you would have otherwise noticed i wasn't saying the units aren't overpowered, but their SKILLS are the ones that make them overpowered, not their stats.
both marksmen and crossbowmen for example have 2-8 damage however, marksmen have precise shot and crossbowmen have no range penalty. wanna guess which one is effecting the units overpoweredness more, the damage or the ability yeah.
Blindness is overpowered for a unit yeah, but if stuff like 75% defense reduction for Sylvan stays, then blindness is ok lol.

Those pictures were also presented in the developer diary about two days ago. I say there's 100% chance for the renegades to be the alternates.

I hope so. And It would be dang! cool if they put in a two handed sword guy instead of the vindicater, though I have nothing against the latters look. But as said why always full amrour and shield?

I don't care about the vindicator's shield but the helmet looks cool so even with a two handed sword, the helmet stays.

well tomorrow is supposedly the moment of truth. screw all these articles about it that have been before whether renegades are alternatives or not, TOMORROW is the day when REAL truth comes out and we shall see 
i still have some hopes that all this has just been Nival tricking us and they won't use renegades
