to be truthful it depends on when and how you played them
I liked Heroes 5 most then heroes 3 then 4 , didnt play the others

Sorry for posting on a dead thread but i'm getting anoyed with all those who try to dismiss heroes 5 and compare it with heroes 3.If you hate it that much participate in the mod that will make it more like 3.Moaning does not help the game.
If you've changed you're mind i apolagize and send this message to all who moan for homm 3.

Okey i have changed my mind.
Heroes 5 is better then H3, much better.
I love the hero development and the alternate upgrades and the graphics. And it doenst feel so old and slow as H3.
This is my new list:
1. Heroes 5
2. Heroes 3
3. Heroes 4
4. Heroes 2
Heroes 2 sucked, even Heroes 4 was better.
And on every map on Heroes 2 you always had a portal to the enemy close to your town.

I'll be honest. When H5 first came out, I agreed with the OP. It was terrible. I had a great system, and it still was pretty much an expensive paperweight with the game. Huge bugs, attrocious load times, terrible camera problems. It was a mess. Since then, however, it has came a long long way. I absolutely love ToTE. A few minor bugs, but nothing horrible. My list would be..
H5 : Tote
H5 : HoF
H3
H2
H1
H4
H5 (original)
Sorry not a huge fan of h4 either.

oh no, not another one of these... chill out man, it's just a game. if you don't like it, than just don't play it. and please don't make a whole thread about your problems. you know, i kind of felt a little sad when io read the masterpost. some people who actually like the game felt offended by that. and anyway, games change as time and generations change. if Nival didn't make 3D(and yes, it's Nival who made the game, Ubi just owns the trademark) than no one would probably buy that game. i mean come one, not only the veterans of H3 own it. some people just got introduced to the series. but 3 of my main points are, that. #1- It's time to change, 2D is old and gay. #2- New people got inroduced to the series. #3- It's just a game, id you don't like it, don't play it, don't make other people sad by saying it sucks. don't hang out on the forums then. go, have fun on the old H1-3 forums, we don't want you here.

I was thinking the same, but I found it quite fun... Moreover I became addicted after I got TOTE.
The only thing I don't like all the time are campaigns... The story is just stupid IMHO and I don't like those longueurs...
But in spite these- it's OK.

it doesn't seem that bad as I have yet to play it, BUT there's probably only one thing that faults me. The 3D is a good thing as you can't expect things to stay the same always it's got to change I mean I loved heroes 3 don't get me wrong but if they move backwards or stay the same you'd basically be buying the same game again which is pointless no? isn't the point of sequels to have a new experience and advancement in technology? Or maybe that could just be me. As I mentioned there is only one thing I disliked about heroes 5 it's actually the same thing that I didn't like about heroes 3 and what not. There's just one too many dragons magma, emerald, ghost, black. I mean I really think all the dragons in both the 3rd and 5th game are cool but to have 4 factions with the same level 7th creature is somewhat disappointing I would have liked to see something a little more original.

I don't think there's any need to insult HoMM 5 like that. Sure there are flaws and stuff, but it's not that horrible. Half the things you mentioned are down to junk PCs anyway...

I find it stupid to say that about any heroes game, but what that guy said in the main post is the same stupid attitude that most have about H4. If you can't appreciate the game, it doesn't mean that "it's for noobs" like one of you fine people said. The game was just different, and it scared most people like crazy. Most didn't even give it a shot and threw it in the garbage. My respect to the people who actually tested the game throughly, but if you don't like it, it's a matter of taste. I found it to be better than the rest, and heroes 5 and WoG took a lot of features from it. The diverse spell system, based more on classes (erm...fire, water, air, earth...yeah...), a more direct involvement of the hero in combat (in WoG, commander? hm, where did that come from?). Even the alternate upgrade in tote is kind of similar to the choosing of creatures in H4 castles. Appreciate it or just don't play it, but don't call it crap.

Are you people still arguing about this..? The fact is that H4 had the worst implementation of features and a bad balance. Had some interesting features many of which I liked but all those did not tie well together and caused imbalances. If the game was created properly(you probably know that they were facing bankrupcy) it would really be a matter of taste. Some people still love it regardless, especially with equilibris.

It is just an opinion about a game. He can insult it if he likes, without the swearing of course. I mean, if I don't like a game, then why should I not be able to insult it?
He doesn't have to have the same opinion as you do, so leave him be.

I concur
HoMM3 was never really too balanced imo. In comparison, ToE has pretty much fixed most unbalance elements (of course further works are expected), plus each faction are more unique than ever in HoMM5.
