Jacked prices.
For just the sheer randomness of it all....
I think beef jerky is ridiculously overpriced.
Seriously.
I think that there is something inherently wrong with paying over $3.00 for a 1.8 ounce bag of it.
Sad when I think about it really seeing as how if I would suck it up and buy a dehydrator, I could make my own.
But they always say...you pay for your pleasures.
No kidding.
I pay out my behind for:
Gasoline.
Good coffee. (I paid $13.00 a pound for a certain kind of coffee that I like)
Cigarettes...and god forbid I actually want a cigar.
Top shelf wine. (Italian Muscato)
Chocolate.
Salon shampoos.
Printer Ink.
And that's the short list.
Gas is reaching over that $3.00 mark again. Good god when does the gouging STOP?!
Coffee is on hiatus, and the prices reflect that.
At least I don't live in NY where their cigarette prices are sometimes above $7.00 a PACK...but I paid close to $5.00 when I lived in Chicago, so I roll with the prices here and don't fret too much...yet.
Top shelf wine that I LIKE will cost me around $20.00 for a regular 750 ML bottle.
Don't even get me started on the chocolate because I don't generally go for your run-of-the-mill Hershey's.
So where am I going with this?
I guess I should be thankful I am not in need of a hooker or drugs.
Either way I don't like how the prices of things, good things, are inflated over the prices of things not so wanted.
You don't see anyone paying more for Cheetos, or for paperclips.
Okay...I am reaching there...I know.
But still.
I could really get going on how people jack the prices for the things you really love, want, and or need.
Because those jerks KNOW you will PAY because you WANT or NEED it.
Take the gas for instance…
(Because I know that crabbing about the cigarette prices is like preaching to the choir)
You NEED to buy gas if you have a vehicle.
You NEED to get places...work, appointments, and errands.
So you pull up to the pump, and you survey your options.
Let's say for the sake of argument that the most expensive is $2.59 and the least expensive is $2.49.
10 cent difference, but really….
What IS the difference?
Gas is gas is gas isn't it?
Isn't it?
I don't think there should be ANY difference in the price unless there are marked differences such as diesel fuel or E85.
I also think that ALL cars should be made to accept ethanol-based fuels.
But that is just me I guess.
It irritates me to no end that I feel raped at the pumps.
That no matter what I choose in the way of fuel, I never feel like I got the best value for my money.
That I know it's going to cost me for the privilege to drive.
And then they further irritate me by lowering the prices the day after I fill my tank.
LOL
So.
I know I am not the only one that gets angry over things like this…these mundane things that we all must deal with it, and accept it because like most other people, feel powerless to stop this madness.
I hear a lot of talk about boycotting gas.
And I laugh myself stupid every time.
Because as riled as some people get, they will NEVER be caught dead on public transit, walking to work, or riding a bike to do any such boycott of the gas pumps.
I wish MORE people would.
God forbid they carpool, that means they can't have that last cigarette or three before they punch the time clock.
They do as I do, grumble as they stand by their car feeding it the gas they know will go down in price the very next day.
Anyway.
So my question is this….
Aside from the non-existent "boycott" of the pumps, what else can be done to stop the price jacking of gas, or ANYthing for that matter?
Ideas?

as for the prices, try Poland, then! You pay exactly as much (and MORE for cars, tvs, computers, games and such) but you earn 1/5 of average US salary
