Stuff

I just thought about a few things that should be changed in heroes4.

1. When you’re in town view and both hero slots are occupied you should be able to hire a new hero without having to move away the visiting hero. It should automatically move just outside the town. I find this extremely annoying in heroes3.

2. You should also be able to split up a stack of troops more easily. If you have a stack of troops (hero view) and want to move it, it should be as it is in heroes3. But if you want to split it in half you should just double click on the stack and then press where you want the two stacks. And if you want 3 stacks you just triple click and so on.

3. Some of you might not like this but I think that mines should be able to exhaust. After about 30 minutes of play you already have enough mines so you don’t need to care about collecting recourses, no matter what difficulty you’re playing on.

4. I haven’t thought about how, but I think formation and strategy should have a bigger role in combat.

That’s it for the moment

You got some pretty good ideas there.
I especially like the one about exhausting mines, it would really add to the realism if such can be said for a fantasy game.BTW there could be a spell that would counter the exhaustion for instance- "Everlasting mines"

I agree

I agree that mines should exhaust, BUT I think you should be able to dig in certain areas to find resources. Such as grass lands for wood, deserts for rock, marsh for minerals, lava for sulfur, snow for crystals, mercury etc. so you could still could continue to build.

yes i would...

...agree with certain people here - mines should stay the way they are - you always need resources for one thing or another...
it would be great if the first two of your propositions became a reality

...if someone already mentioned this before maybe I just missed it...

...but I think that if they're not and if they already are, please someone just tell me...that they should add back in those captain of the guards or whatever, in the towns...and I think they should be added in garrisons and other places too...but since even the heroes can fight now, maybe they should be just a moderately strong fighter or something...

Exhausting mines?

No - mines at the end of XL maps brings you stuff which you TRADE for GOLD - and with that GOLD you buy creatures, simple as that?

So there is the goal of you - while trying to finish up with the computer or some other player - you also must steal his mines. If you know that they'll exhaust soon - then you wouldn't do that. Also if you know so - then at the begining you'll send your troops as far as possible to get mines which are not close to you enough - yep - which is kind of cool - but not so.

So keep the rules simple - you can't balance it at the end if you got so much things.

I dont like mines exhausting:
1)too complicated
2)how to get more on smaller maps?
3)It would make maps too hard to play
4)too hard to keep balance when making maps
5)not original homm play
6)kill the uniqueness in some strategies: I like playing long and building strong defence befor making my attack plan... then I make a plan according to map and enemy castles and slowly conquer; how will I be able to do that when the mines have run out of rescources. others have long-term strategies too.

BUT! I do think it will be possible if you had to "migrate" your rescource mines. E.G.: the mines you start up with near your castle will run out; once they have, they only produce 1 per day or 2 days instead of the regular 2/day. Then u would have to fight over controll of the "unlimited" mines against opponents to stay alive... it's a possible solution

Mines...

I agree with Mystery (as usual).
Why make things complex, and again as
I've said before. I don't like the game
to be like Ago of Empires, I know some
of you like the game, but hereoes is a
copletely diffrent game. I don't want it
to be similar to it.
Pliz do not make HOMM IV a copy cat of
age of empires !!!

mines

I agree with Dark_Hunter_7 too with this exhausting mines, but I will add one possible idea. The more far the mine is from one of your castles, less resources will it produce when it runs out of resources. Ex: One mine exhausted very near your castle could produce 1 unit every 2 or 3 days. And one mine far from any of your castles could produce 1 unit every week. It's because if mine is far from a castle it takes more time to carry resources from it.

I don't like exhausting mines at all because i love long strategy changing mine resources for gold to buy powerfull creatures and high quantity of them to immolate enemy heroes and castles!

I think that a mine could be exausted...
Ex.
I have a wood mine, it can poduce 500 wood and can produce up to 2 everyday...
Then, I can make it so it only produce 1 or 0 everydaty...In situations where I need wood I can take it up to 2 again...

I don't know if it's a good idead, I haven't thought about...I have just wrote it...
I would like to here your opinion of my idea...
