No I would not dismiss you because of your age, ever...Just wanted to point out that this is not opinion unlike Consis, it is in fact because I have been through it.

I feel as though you cannot give reparations to a group of people, unless it was the government who had caused a very large portion of the damages to a group of people in the past AND that government is still in power today.
The American government did not enslave anyone. However the German government did create concentration camps. The American government essentially destroyed the culture and took the lands of the Native Americans. I believe to this day they still are getting some reparations such as free college and a couple other things.
So in these cases when a government directly commits a damaging act, then I believe you can say reparations are okay. But saying black people should get reparations. This is the sort of thing I feel just hurts their cause.

It's the way that the economy works. Less capable businesses (which tend to be businesses with less capable workers) do worse than more capable businesses. They could all achieve more if they could hire or not hire anyone they wanted to. And if white-male-only businesses want to lose to competition while maintaining a standard of white male supremacy, that's fine with me; the economy punishes them, as it should. Not the government. Businesses will be shooting themselves in the foot if they hire or don't hire someone for any reason other than probable productivity/insight/whatever the job requires.

Yes, and I would like to add one more criterion: if members of the oppressed group still survive today. There are still Holocaust survivors. There are no ex-American slaves. Holocaust survivors got reparations (Israel), as they should have. Their descendants should do the best that they can with what they inherited from them, but not get any new reparations. Descendants of slaves shouldn't get reparations, either.
Celfious, your whole idea is a utopian failure. First, how would you manage to organize your system out of what we have right now? Secondly, what you are suggesting is basically a fragmentation of government, industry, and commerce into a more local level. You want city-states. City-states can't accomplish anything major in this day and age. What has Liechtenstein done lately? The city-states of Ancient Greece collapsed for a reason. Finally, you reject fundamental civil liberties, saying that whatever the majority says, goes. What if a 51% majority said to kill the other 49%? Should it happen? No, of course not. In a good government, people have rights that cannot be violated. And what does your plan have to do with reparations, anyway? And it is possible to infer from your plan that neighborhoods would finance their own schools through property taxes going back into the community. How does the community make money, though? Not everyone is an electrician, carpenter, or engineer.

Consis, look at it this way. You are not voting for Barack Obama. Why? Because other people won't vote for him and you want your vote to count by voting between popular people. Why won't other people vote for him? Apparently, because they're racists. So you don't vote for him either. Thus, you appear to be a racist.
The reason that you are not voting for him is because of his race. See, you're no better than the racists. Not voting for one reason has the same result as not voting for another. What if all of your supposed racists really didn't vote for him because they didn't think they had a chance? If no one supports a candidate, of course they don't have a chance. So be an example to your fellow pseudo-racists and say you'll vote for him. Maybe you'll convice people that he indeed has a wide base of support.
