Yeah, I dislike how all heroes eventually end up about the same in Heroes III.

Hopefully their attempt to fix this in heroes IV will work.

About lhs and rhs of the brain: the fact is we only use about 10% of our brain capacity as it.... (so i guess its ok to lose a few brain cells in extra curricular activities), but most people either mainly use their left or their right, not necessary only lhs or rhs.

I still cant group how i play, im a fairly eratic player and dont stick to one strategy, just see how i feel on the day, and perhaps im not the worlds greatest player, but im doing it for the fun and challenge, not the glory (though losing sucks). So basically it will depends on my mood when i play whether im aggressive and go and conquer quickly (which usually doesnt go well for me) or i build up an army and then go and conquer....

On an excited note, i got my expansion packs today finally and ill be able to spend many more hours playing heroes

What in the big bloody blue hells is this thread about?
Some guy is trying to make a point and it turns into a three page debate on semantics.
That must be the feminine part of everyone.

LOL, hahaha,
Totally agreed.

According to Wiggy's poll, I must be very feminine when playing homm:-

1). I like to resurrect nearly every piece of my troops at the end of battle. I could just blind that damn devils so that I can resurrect my last centaur.

2). I like tower for its spell and rampart for its "being cute" (only hope pegasi won't get armour on when upgraded. )

3). I like RPG type of maps like Lord of War and currently I am playing Eternal Love campaign and enjoying it very much. I also like to develop my hero to the "ideal" type in my mind.

4). I consider fun is more important than win.

and last but not least:-
I like Solmyr, he is COOL (well, not cute )

now that i think about it ... my preferrences sway back and forth depending on my mood.
Sometimes i'll feel like playing a huge role-playing map, other times I'll get sick of them.

Anyway, there are very few female classical composers, the only two I can think of are Clara Schumann (Robert Schumann's wife), and Zwilich.

Note: You probably left out the greatest of all (three now, is it) female composers, namely Hildegard von Bingen, a medieval composer of great impact and weight (metaphorically speaking, of course, or, I don't know what she looked like, she might have been fat for all I know )

I think I'm more of a feminine/protective/right-brained/defensive/whatever heroes player. I tend to favor linear maps, a good story and hero development. That's not to say I don't like a good oldfashioned brawl.

Anyway, in one aspect I miss the old days (yeah, you're 19, so start yapping about the "old days" ;P), when there was nothing wrong with girls being a bit feminine (wearing more dresses, letting their hair grow longer, not get pissed when a man holds the door, stuff like that)
But then I'm just a sucker for nostalgia (I don't know if the word bears the exact same meaning in english as in my language, but I'm referring to the wishing for days gone by), and I'm going to make a post about that soon.

Hildegard von Bingen was female?
whoops.

Yes I remember her now, yet I was never a fan of Medieval music.  If it's beyond Baroque ... throw it away.

This whole thread makes me sad.  That somebody would put so much work and time into something that does nothing but perpetuate idiotic sterotypes is just wretchedly ƒucked-up.

Then you haven't read it with your brain engaged, I'm afraid.

People *do* adopt different playing styles and have different tastes.  The only potentially stereotypical component is the choice of labels for two points in the spectrum - and I did think we agreed that there were other labels that could be used, while the underlying question remains interesting - what play-style suits *you*?

And *is* the spectrum linear, or are there other dimensions involved?  *Can* everyone be characterised as more or less aggressive or defensive?  *Does* magic correlate with defensive/protective playstyle?

I like story maps more than wide open battle maps, in fact, I think my favourite type of map would be so developed that once you took a town, it stayed yours!

As far as town types, once I have had a while to get used to them, I like them all (well maybe not Conflux) but Rampart and Dungeon seem to be my favourites.

I like preserving my army, trying not to attack until I can win with no losses (or as few as reasonably possible)

I like hybrid heroes best, though I have been known to have all four magic schools, wisdom, sorcery, intellegence for skills.

All that said, I think puts me into the "feminine" side more than not, but I can handle that.

BTW Wiggy, I am glad you posted this, interesting stuff to think on.

Most of the time I play like you Tristan, I dont mind a long game and keeping my forces til im ready to take on almost anything.

But then like i said it can all depend on my mood! And that doesnt really work on small maps too well.

lately I've desired maps where I would sacrifice a hero for the greater good.

In other words, where one hero is NOT everything ... and where he is simply a means to victory.

The best example of this would be the new ToH map called "HotSpot" ... it's a CONSTANT battle starting day 1, and sometimes I'm scared to play it because it gets so intense.

The OP is utter nonsense.
Let me prove it with two simple examples, yes, two is all it takes:

http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/198/d/5/assassin_by_ice_marioteodosio-d6dv55s.jpg

Is the guy on the first picture feminine because he prefers magic?
Is the female on the second picture masculine because she prefers might?

How in hell is Deemer, a fierce minotaur that shoots meteor showers from the sky, feminine and Mephala masculine?

EDIT: The most relevant distinction between feminine and masculine is how they choose to exert power.

Men rely more on intimidation and large displays of power to overwhelm the enemy.
Females use underhanded tactics, poison, striking from the shadows, their facade of weakness is their strength.

Has nothing to do with might and magic.

The rest may be generally more true, and doesn't have to be. For most people, it depends on the mood what map they'll choose, what castle they'll play, etc.
