Help needed with upgrades

Right, so, here's the deal.

I was redoing the Dungeon lineup, I wanted to make it like this:

1 Scout / Assassin
2 Blood Maiden / Blood Fury
3 Shadow Mistress / Shadow Matriarch
4 Grim Rider / Grim Raider
5 Minotaur / Minotaur King
6 Hydra / Deep Hydra
7 Shadow Dragon / Black Dragon

Basicly what I did was copy ALL the info from 1 file into another to swap places, changed the statistics, and as well gave each the correspond tier level.

All goes well so far, but there are a few problems

The main problem is with the upgrades. Once I upgraded the tier 3 building, I found I couldn't upgrade the shadow mistressi, even though I distinctively set them as tier 3. However, I found once I got tier 5 Minotaurs... I could strangely upgrade the tier 5 MINOTAURS into tier 3 Shadow Matriarchs...

Simularly, when I fought a bunch of Shadow Mistressi on the battlefield, the middle stack was a bunch of Deep Hydras instead of Shadow Matriarchs... So yeah xD

Anyone know how to fix this little bug?


Another minor bug is that on the adventure map, the creatures are shown as their previous forms. For example, visually you saw minotaurs, while they were shadow mistressi. Help on this?

Here you are, I made a new version for you I even put the Dwellings on the place used by that Tier I think the problem was that you edited the Shared file and gave them new Models and such or you copy and pasted in the GameMechanics/Creature/Creatures/Dungen/whatever.xdb I edited those files manaully and I don't have your problem.

Thanks! Just what I needed

Except there's a different bug now, the townbuildings. The tier 5 building shows as "Labyrinth" like it should, allowing to recruit minotaurs. However, the tier 6 building shows Hall of Shadows - recruiting Shadow Witches, and the tier 3 building doesn't show at all, it's a white square which cannot be clicked.

I tried tinkering around a bit with the dwelling files but no luck. Any idea?

Really? That doesn't happen in my case everything you mentioned doesn't happen in my case. The only bugs I encounter are that the Shadow Witch and the Minotaur are too expensive, that's just something I forgot to fix and the Military Post can give Shadow Witches and there is still an AdvMap Minotaur Dwelling. Do you have version 2.1? That's where I built it for.

Not sure if that would explain it. I don't have any of the expansions, just regular heroes v1.5 I believe.

You mean the lineup with interesting? I think it makes it more akin to the Warlock's heroes 1 lineup, now having a solid tier 4, 5, 6 AND 7 army for end game while having shooters at 1 and 3, plus furies at 2 to make even better early game creeping.

Problem is with making the Minotaur's stats, for that double attack can do SERIOUS damage if the stats are like any regular tier 5s.

Yup the lineup is interesting, just as good as the original

Pushing the dark elves at lower levels and rising the real beasties to tier 4-7 seems kinda nice for a change.

But its Minotaur "Guard" King is just lame. Yeah bring me my 400 Minotaur KINGS....

I'm not forcing you to play this version  I set the spells to basic, but might have to think about if I should redo their spells. Vulnerability seems right > Lowering enemy defence = more damage, it fits their style. Confusion is VERY nice (especially against Sylvan!). They should perhaps have Eldritch arrow as a spell as well, seems like a nice substitute for their regularm agic attack I don't think the light spell fits them. At all.

That aside, it aint that bad if the unit is overpowered, the growth is low remember?

Awwrr I feel flattered xD I personally don't mind seeing Dungeon overpowered again, since I mostly play single maps, and in such cases one faction being overpowered isn't a bad thing, it can add a good challenge. Besides, the units are probably gonna be overpriced.

And I like Minotaur Kiiing xD  Hm, how about this:   Minotaur > Overlord.  A little reference to the H3 Dungeon Minotaur heroes


But yeah as it is, the buildings in Dungeon are a bit screwed up now... Any more updated news, Kronos?

The buildings aren't screwed up in my case, I'll try to make a 1.5 version later today, I'll leave the stats and costs to you as long as you give me credit for making the base of the MOD.

Personally I prefer this new lineup above the existing one (That's also the reason why I'm helping you with this) I'll also speed up the animations of the Shadow Witch and the upgraded one. (The current speed up is buggy)

Personally, I'm a fan of a revamped Dungeon faction.  They were one of the first Independent creature types that I noticed right off the bat and forced me to save my first run at the Campaign just to skirmish to check them out.  Nice idea and great implementation, Kronos.

Does anyone have a tip for the minotaurs though, stat wise? While keeping in mind they have a double attack and thus shouldnt be given the same sort of stats as regular tier 5s ?

Given the hydra isnt very offensive (I gave the upgrades a damage range of 14-24 OR 16-26, cant remember which, and higher def than attack, and 150 hp), I think it would be fair if minos did around 50 % more damage than regular tier 5s. Sooo, that would mean 75 % of base damage of regular tier 5 ( x2 = 150).

17 attack, 16 def, 12-20 damage?

I went with 70 HP orso.

Thanks But since I don't feel like copying all of it into the data file again, could you tell which specific changes you made in which files to fix the town? (The creatures were all fine)

The only difference is that the Buildings are given in a different order so the HoF order messes up in the standart version if you copy everything except for the Dungeon.(AdvMapTownShared).xdb file you're fine.

Hm, I should increase the regeneration effect... I reckon its values can be found in the creature's ability file, somewhere under spells probably. I'll check it out xD

Nope, still doesn't work (late reply, I know). I don't know why, but the tier three building keeps showing up as a white square, unclickable. As does the 1.5 version you released.

So for the moment I fixed it by using the normal build up and simply changing the town points required. Labyrinth, 9. Hydra cave, 12. Shadow witches, 6. The only complication THAT gives, is that AI doesn't built the new tier 3 (shadow witches) untill it gets to tier 6 building. It goes with the old buildup structure.

Also another complication; the Dungeon military posts feature Grim Riders, Hydras, Shadow Witches, and Shadow Dragons, not the minotaurs.

Sorry, still need help with this

Anyway, after some testing with this lineup I can safely say it makes Dungeon a LOT more fun to play (it already was fun, but this basicly lifts it to EXTREMELY fun).

What usually annoys me in creeping or in any battle, is how often you need to click "Defend" on units you're not using, such as Golems or squires. Dungeon never really had this problem since most of its units can reach the enemy line in their first turn or can shoot (Furies, Draggies, Raiders - Assassins, Matriarchs..) which is really nice.

With this upgraded lineup, creeping is even more fun, practicly 3 shooters from tier 1 - 3, with the real powerhouses being at tier 4 - 7, and all but the hydras being able to reach the enemy lines (Minotaurs only with tactics).

A bit overpowered? Mehbeh, but the double slash of minotaurs is really made worthwhile now. Besides, Dungeon's shooters are plain bad, and their only purpose is to poison and cast spells more likely.

Room for improvements? Perhaps making hydras offensively powerfull as well while fully crippling their movement?  (speed 4 or 5, initiative 7? )

And yeah the fixing of that town view would be a blast xD
