Lets here the expert out (LKru). Was it a coinsident that the 2 of the 4 topseeded teams that won, were the ones who also won their final game in the regular season, while the 2 teams that lost were the ones who played their backups and lost even though they shouldnt play in the first round of the play-offs?

LOL

I can't look at your new avatar and take anything you say serious.  Well, the reason they lost is because they couldn't make plays when the game was on the line.  Both teams had opportunities to win at the end of the game... both teams should have NEVER let it get to that situation to begin with, and both teams couldn't close the deal.  Not sure if they were looking ahead to next week or not... too hard to say.  I honestly don't believe that sitting key players the last game of the season was the reason they lost.  Silly coincidence if you ask me. Sounds like Media trying to incorporate a direct comparison for cause and effect and it isn't that simple.  If Dallas and Indy played their starters the last game of the season and won their games, then showed up round 2 of the playoffs and play like crap, they still lose. Dallas had receivers dropping balls that are hitting them in the hands.  Their offensive line looked pathetic...they provided next to no protection for the QB the entire game.  FYI, the offensive line DID play the last game of the season. Indy, well what can I say... running back tipping a perfectly thrown ball to the Chargers defense... Merry Christmas, heres a gift San Diego.  Marvin Harrison fumbled deep in the red zone, he wouldn't have played the last game even if Indy played all starters... he was hurt most of the season and just came back for the playoffs.  I'm not even sure he was 100%. With all of that said, Indy still went ahead on the TD pass to Gonzales.  To me it is inexcusable for Tony Dungy's defense to lay an egg like they did and not protect the lead. Let's throw out what we are asking here... we are asking that the defending super bowl champs make 1 last stop of a team which is using their backup QB instead of Rivers, RB instead of Tomlinson and injured TE (Gates) and they just couldn't do it.  That shows me absolutely NO heart at all. They lost because San Diego wanted to win the game more. That is my 2 cents

Since you are the expert ill take your word for it. I would just think that it would hurt a teams moral a bit to lose the last game before a 14 days break and that they could get a bit rusty after not playing for that long. But what do I know, ive never played the game. I have no idea how important it is to rest your starters after a long season but it seems to be possible to go the distance playing every week.

Btw, talking about heart, I gotta take my hat of to Green Bay. Especially Ryan Grant and Brett Farve. Totally crushed the seahawks even after that disasterous start. Talk about a defence not being able to make a stop.

I am no expert, but I really do believe that those game were lost for other reasons than not playing the key starters in the last game of the regular season.  Sitting key starters in nothing new... it is not like 2 teams just invented the idea this year.  Teams that have clinched a 1st round bye have sat their starters in the past almost exclusively. BTW, the starters did not sit for rest, they sat because they don't want to risk getting injured and possibly sitting out the entire playoffs.  In a meaningless game where key starters sit, the morale of the team is not down since their focus has already gone towards their next game. If you want my opinion on why the other 2 teams didn't, here it is:  New England is in the midst of a perfect season, something that has only happened 1 other time since the Super Bowl has been around (1972 Dolphins) and I'm sure even though they clinched the home field advantage throughout the playoffs, it was important to the players that they cap off the perfect regular season as well. Why Green Bay?  Well, since Brett Favre was the starter in Green Bay, he has started every single game.  That is an incredible (almost impossible) accomplishment. That being said, I think the intention was to play Favre for a few series so that he could get his "Start" recorded and rest the remainder of the game.  Trust me, if the LiDowns made a miraculous comeback and pulled ahead of Green Bay, Favre would NOT have come off the bench to try to pull off the win. Besides, NY Giants and San Diego are both great teams... San Diego without Rivers and Tomlinson is not, which is why I can't get over Indy's defense folding like they did.  Seattle is not that good, sorry Fooster, I know that is your team, but they are not.  The Jaguars are good, but not as good as San Diego.  Plus, nobody is as good as New England.

I was disapointed to see the Colts lose too. Like you, I thought they had it in the bag when Rivers left the game but they sure made a mess of things. I think the Patriots will get an easy win next week.

I wasnt that surprised to see Dallas mess up. They had shown signs of weakness at the end of the regular season. I still didnt expect the Giants to be as good as they were but ofcourse a team is only as good as the opponents allow them to be. I dont think Green Bay will allow the Giants much next week. Btw, fun to watch T.O. at the press confrence after the game.

LOL yep... my thoughts exactly on T.O.  The Giants are a tough team... they did prove that late in the season with a game down to the wire vs. New England.  Green Bay has always been very tough to beat at Lambeau Field. Especially when they have as tough a team as they do this year.  Will be a COOOOLLLLLDD one this weekend... just the way the Packers like it. If Tomlinson and Rivers are back in the game and healthy, I see San Diego making a respectable game vs. the Pats, if not, it could be a blowout.  It might be a blowout regardless.

Yea I knew it was over when Romo lost his temper.
twice in 2 playoffs he blew the playoffs .
One by mishandling the FG.
This yr throwing the ball to like 3 Blue Players with no Dallas players .

My hat goes to NY (even though we do not like them here).
They played well.
Eli Manning Pulled through when it counted.

Plus SD without a couple of thier starters including the best RB in the whole game going out in the second Quarter pulling it off vs the defending champions.

Man, New England is going to lose sooner or later. I wonder which game it will be?

I think I'll make an early (unoffical) pick of Green Bay for the Superbowl 27-20.
