Nothing on the other hand stops us from makinga a pure axeoth one.

Whereas there are a lot of well-established storyline details to stop us from making an Ashan/Axeoth one.

Quote:
Well, I belive I need the in depth explanation as obviously they vould travel TO axeoth - so why couldn't they trave back - or farther?

Right, here we go.  You asked for it:

Magically-created gateways in Axeoth, such as monoliths, portal-spells and Dimension Door magics, are incapable of allowing travel between two planets.  Simply, they don't have enough energy for the task.  No matter how many enchantments, spells, incantations and whatnot you place on a magic portal, you will NEVER be able to use it to travel to another planet.

Transportation gateways that are capable of such a monumental task must have a lot more energy, more than any spellcaster in the Universe is capable of creating.  To build such a portal, you must not only have an energy source, but also the technology needed to use it and convert its energy into a form capable of fulfilling the portal's purpose.

A singular magical portal cannot even take a mage to another continent.  It simply doesn't have enough power.  Basically, energy is required to enhance a portal, and living entities cannot generate a sufficient amount of energy to do so.  A reliable source of arcane technology is required to provide the boundless amounts of energy needed for intergalactic travel.

Most gateways capable of instigating travel between two worlds are affiliated in some way with the Ancients or the Kreegans, both highly technologically-advanced races.  Examples include the Gates to Another World (MM2), the Sparkling Bridge (HC: The Fiery Moon), the Ancients' Gate (MM7), the Inferno 'Castle Gates' (H3) and of course the portals which brought Colony's refugees to Axeoth (H4).

There are some very, very specific exceptions to this rule.  The following is quoted from Gauldoth in Heroes IV:

"One can't simply open a gateway to a specific location without tremendous magical power, and even then no one knows how to direct that power.  That knowledge was lost long ago.  However, I have a theory that a temporary gateway can be opened by unleashing a tremendous amount of magical power at a nexus point of the lines of magic that flow through everything in the Universe.

Through my studies of Nature Magic, I have learned to see these lines of magic.  Finding a nexus point shouldn't be hard.  Opening the gateway, however, will be much more difficult.  But I think I have received a prod in the right direction.

That prod came in the form of a knight of Palaedra who came to this area on a crusade against the undead.  He searches for an ancient sword rumored to be a powerful weapon against demons called the Angel's Blade.  There is no question that this weapon is connected to the realm that gives a demon its powers, otherwise it wouldn't be so effective against one.

It is my hope to find the Angel's Blade first.  When I shatter it at a magical nexus point, I believe it will create a gateway to the realm where my Master awaits.  A long shot, I know, but what choice do I have?"

In this example, a direct convergence of Axeoth's magical ley lines is required, and a specific relic with vast power, connected in some way to a specific world, is needed.  Even then, you could end up just about anywhere if the token is linked in some way with another world.  Of course, you need to have ties to both the natural and the spiritual worlds in order to even see the ley lines, and after all your hard work, the gate will only ever remain open for a very short amount of time.

That should be convincing enough, if you need more evidence, just say the word.  Of course, I agree with Ted.

So the new story remains? That is pleasing enpough for me. I actually don't lant a Axeoth only story - Cepheus does - let him try writing one.

@Cepheus - That fro sure NOT convincing enough - for first Kreegans seem to exist in ANY universe - so they should be able to do as they were asked by Urgash and open a portal to the linking world - where Sandro is Locked and from where Ayden needs to pass into ahsan. Fo second - Urgash is a GOD - he can always find the power and knowlaedge to open and direct a portal between ashan and the Linking World, lock it and drive Karador to UNLOCKING it when the time is right, and he could also use this portal byhimself and the link that Linking world to Axeoth by creating a similar portal that Ayden and his kreegans are sopose to open in some amount of time. By the way this option2 sounds a bit batter.

personally, i think that if we merged Necro and Inferno for Axeoth would be good (we can then do something special for the other one(naga)) and keeping them apart for Ashan is better

however i think that Sandro could be a hero for both campagins, listen....

Axeoth- Sandro has just attacked an sacrad temple for money for his impending attack on the other nations (i don't know mush about Axeoth, so forgive me if facts are wrong), he unearths a vault speeking of unimageable power, he enters the gate, only for nothing to happen, he is confused, a mirror on the side of the wall then shows Sanro(2) in another dimension, they talk and soon the sends his army through the gate and copies appear in Ashan. the two Sandro team together to conqure both worlds, both then decide they want control of the other world as well and attempt to attack each other on the plain of eternal damnasion, our heroes appear and we kick each others but

@Serpent:  I'm sorry if I'm annoying you somehow with my respect for the old storyline continuity, but I'm only conveying the absolute facts.  In the old universe, intergalactic teleportation is impossible without advanced technology.  Don't throw Urgash and Karador at me because they are not connected with Axeoth's universe in any way, shape or form: they are from Ashan, an entirely different universe.  There are no Kreegans there.

Let me make it clear that I have no objection to Ayden and Sandro being in Ashan for a different storyline, as long as they have no ties to Axeoth.

@Ted:  Peculiar to say the least, nice one.

Yeah but I have already said that merging Ashan and Axeoth makes even less sense.  They are two different worlds with very different concepts and lore.  So while you believe that what I believe makes no sense, I believe that what you believe makes even less sense.  No offence intended but I feel obliged to disagree with your view.

Quote:
I eman why don't we try something crazy and not menant to be - as we're making a fan made expansion

Well, if we want crazy, let's change all of the Haven creatures to giant fish-men with overbites and give them a new racial ability - Raindance.  Then why don't we turn the Dungeon creatures into Slime Golems and throw sprinkles over each and every one of them!

Quote:
what is the problem for us having a fused storyline - puting all the chars we want to see together and making conection between Ubival MMworld and Newworlds/3do MM world?

The problem is the fact that at least half of this merge makes no sense.  There are very different styles between the two worlds and a lot of contradictions to stumble over.  In the first place, we weren't going to make any connection to Axeoth at all apart from the returning creatures, heroes and spells.  I suggested that we make a few seperate campaigns with Axeoth, maybe bring back an old hero or two such as Tarnum or whoever, just as a nod of the head to fans of the old story such as myself, and everyone shoots off and decides to change the preferred Ashan story into a mix of both worlds which is going to send my Axeoth-Ashan-contradiction-radar to full blast.

In short, I'm almost sorry I opened my big mouth.  But again, let me make it clear that I have no objection to Ayden and Sandro being in Ashan for a different storyline, as long as they have no ties to the other storyline in Axeoth.

Don't worry, I've said my piece, I won't say another word unless somebody makes another attempt to delude me into thinking that the merging of both universes is a good idea.  I just hope I'm not screwed over.

All right this is one big about Ashan, Axeoth and the Connection World aka Beginning Dimension.

The BD is connected to all worlds, some just don't have a Portal yet the one in Ashan with the three Seals was created to seal away the Ancient Ones there and later Sandro, but Karador left the Dimension without locking the Portal again. So Ayden, who lives in Nekross the same place where Gauldoth Half-Dead lives, secretly stole the notes of Gauldoth and tries to find the Artifact that can create a Portal to get in some some special world he really desires to go Gauldoth found out about this and tries to hunt down Ayden, but he managed to build a Portal and ends up in the BD where he gets contacted by Urgash to become Kha-Beleth's spy he accepts because he can live with other Demons the Kreegan he has with him is small.

Is this a good idea or not?

In my opinion this is the best solution, because Cepheus said for himself that the portal is open for only a short amount of time, so no other people from Axeoth can use it only Ayden and some Kreegans leave so no history is ruined! And don't forget they never wanted to go to Ashan they hoped to find some kind of Paradise (Of course they have never heard of Ashan before)

Ayden Biography:

As the demons failed and his hope for kreegans to dominate the world so he would rule a kingdom of his own Ayden who is one of those survived the destruction of Eraphia by being transferred to Axeoth desides to sieze control by himself. He stole the notes about creating a portal between worlds from Gauldoth Half-death and escapes the world of Axeoth with a small army of kreegans. The portal however took him to the world of Ashan about which he knew not. There he and he’s army serve as spies for Kha’Beleth – the demon sovereign to secure themselves a position  in this new world.

Andrei Biography:

@Serpent:  No need for apologies, if anyone should do so it's me.  I often get like that about the storyline, sometimes it turns bitter and I'm glad it didn't this time.  Let's rejoin forces then.

The crazy mod idea was just a stupid joke, I never ever want to see it in game personally.

Again, while I actually like the newish story with Gauldoth, I can still poke holes in it.  Maybe I could edit it a tiny bit to make it absolutely impenetrable?  Not sure I can ever fully agree on a world-merge, but then what does my opinion matter?  Anyway I'm willing to live and let live.  But @Kronos, do you mind if I go ahead with those campaigns set in Axeoth with no Ashan involved?  I had in mind a return of the Immortal Hero, Tarnum, and perhaps an appearance from Escaton (MM8, and yes, I know he's dead).  I'll try to make the story interesting with the return of a good few old characters.

I think we should take Legends of the Ancients into account, as the Kreegans severed their ties with Nekross in the first book.  I wonder if we could make something of a prelude?

All right you are "allowed" to write the Axeoth story, but keep in mind that Ayden accidently ends up in Ashan. And wich allingments will you do? As we have a Death Campaign, I'd like to know that because Chaos and Nature are a bit hard to restore (Order should be possible I think the Skrimisher from Fortress, mainly Academy monsters and the TotE Red Dragon) anyway I wish you good luck and if I'll build Axeoth Maps I'm going to make them also for Heroes 4 to see if everything could happen in Axeoth. Now if someone can send me music from Heroes 4 Axeoth could be perfect in Heroes 5!

Speaking of soundtrack - I understand you're trying to make Axeoth the closesd to H4 Axeoth that is possible - that's great but about ashan campaigns soundtrack I\d like to make a daring preposition - How about a  Hard Rock/Heavy Matal themed soundtrack based on real songs but with no vocal (we can remove it via sound forge or audiocity or somth like that). I kn0ow thi sounds fullish at the first view but i think there are songs that sort of would fit being the soundtrack. Like:
Nightwish - Wish I had an Angel
Metallica - Wherever I may Roam
and Manowar - The Crown and the Ring which i recomend for credits track with vocal.

EDIT: btw, Sanctum creature bios are coming soon.

I've only done the upgrades so far, change unit names at your own preference.

In desperate times, when true warriors are scarce, the populace of any village is brought into drastic conscription, trained to use weapons to protect their home.  Though little more than inexperienced peasants with spears, these courageous men will sacrifice life and limb to ensure safety for their kin.  They are capable of stunning foes with an impressive bashing attack.

Renowned for their pinpoint accuracy and undisputed use in hit-and-run combat, these snipers are armed with mechanical crossbows to fell enemies from a distance.  Though their light armour renders them easy to overcome, it allows for swift movement around battlefields, a factor essential for gaining the upper hand against enemy armies.  To this day, the unmatched tactics of the Crossbowmen are in great demand, coveted by many warlords.

Vindicators are soldiers of fortune, wandering swordsmen willing to lend their strong arms to any with enough gold to pay for their fleeting loyalty.  Comprised mostly of the human race, some of their number is also formed of brutal, fierce half-Orcs who revel in the chaos and violence of warfare.  Though a Vindicator will gladly support any general with the money to fund their cause, they will just as easily turn upon those who refuse to part with their gold.

Their eggs silently stolen from the looming cliffs across rugged landscapes by greedy arena proprietors, Battle Griffins are winged creatures who are ruthlessly wrenched from their mother's nests and trained from birth to fight for show and profit.  While well-fed and trained ruthlessly for battle, their lifetime of abusive captivity takes a heavy toll on their sanity.  This constant anger against their opression causes them to lash out at attackers with redoubled rage.

These priest-warriors are fervent worshippers of their pantheon.  Devout to the point of fanaticism, they are undulating in their attempts to prove their faithfulness to their deity, even going out of their way to prove their worthiness to enjoy a good afterlife upon their death.  Usually, this entails participation in active warfare.  Hardy spellcasters, Zealots are armed with large maces and the power to invoke clerical magic with which to smite their foes and encourage their allies.

Champions are elite freelance cavaliers who gleefully participate in tournaments and prizefighting contests across the land.  Though not as skilled as traditional knights, they rely on their own formidable brute force to achieve victory.  Their decorative armour, despite its vibrant colours, provides excellent protection against attacks of all kinds.  Expertly trained in the art of riding, Champions can also run multiple enemies through in a single charge with their mighty lances.

Fallen Angels are the messengers of the dark Gods, otherworldly entities with ominous wings and flaming swords.  Soaring above battlefields, they distribute death among damned warriors and conduct the souls of the dead to their afterlife.  Though traditionally neutral, Fallen Angels will occasionally reveal themselves to mortals and participate in their conflicts.  Their inhuman strength is redoubled in full measure by their ability to siphon soul energy to heal themselves.
