*Waves to Okrane*. Don't forget that some items are so common they become useless also. How many + luck items does a map need?! Resource artifacts are ok also, but they really should only be on heroes that won't see combat. Elemental Waistband is good when you have a small army to explore, that is about it. The artifacts they have are ok, but I do think more variety is needed.

While I'm at the Pendant of Mastery, does anyone know if skills and items affecting Necromancy skill also increase DE points with the new system? I'm talking about Lord of the Undead, Amulet of Necromancy and Pendant of Mastery (which, ironically, has the same % boost to Necromancy as the Amulet...)

Nope there is no artifact or skill that increases DE, to increase DE recruit lots of necromancer heroes (it's cheaper than the pendant and you don't have to wear it )

for me, when i'm playing with necro +3-6 ore bonus is more useful, than trident, emerald slippers, all seeing crown, ring of unrepentant, evercold icicle, elemental waistband, necklace of the lion etc.
u see, the useful items for necro are very few at the begining, so to pick ore bonus is better imho

good point. Cracks me up everytime I get the necklace of the lion as necromancer...

It's bad for necro's that morale artifacts are almost useless for them that's true but there are still many useful ones. Even destructive boosters can be useful if you decide to take destructive... may be rare but if you get some spells it can be devastating for your opponent.
Maybe I would consider the resource bonus on very poor maps but any other way I prefer the artifact.
In short it's a gamble but with a little luck it's worth it.

My favorite artifacts are bloody claw (especialy usefull with blood frenzy to make your lvl 1 creatures realy count in a big fight), unicorn bow-and I'm surprized very few wrote about this bow...I think it's the best artifact out there  and the final one are the Saints Boots (the ones that give a +1 bonus to all stats including luck and morale  ).
But with the coming of Tote the artifact sets will RULE!

Well it wouldn't be heroes without crummy artifacts :-).
At least there is no fizbin of misfortune. -2 morale for your own troops!
I like it when there are penalties for positive artifacts...the ogre shield is usually beneficial for me.
It would be a good way to balance out the uber strong artifcats like the 20% initiative things.
