disconnection after 1 minute and 10 seconds !

Hey all,

I have a problem at Heores III multiplayer game .
My friend and i play alot inline.
Recently i bought a new router (i had a router before),

I open all ports of the game, i even use DMZ (open all possible ports) .
Well , me and my friend get connected and after i play 1 min and 10 seconds exactly ! it says that my friend has left the game .
if i transfer my turn before 1 minute and 10 seconds then it's all fine and we can play ,
But if i'm in a battle or playing more then this amount of time then it gives me that message .

I tried to play with and without GameSpy , still , we can't play if my turn is more the 1.10 minutes .

Does anyone knows what to do ??
I have a router : SIEMENS ADSL SL2-141.
I'm using windows XP sp2 ,
I have Heroes3 complete (and so my friend) .

This may happen coz u didn't setup the traffic correct. If u have forwarded ports, be sure to forward them tcp AND udp.

Hey angelito,

well , i open all the ports , i also chose all to be TCP and UDP .

i also used DMZ host . means i open all the ports in the world to my internal ip : 10.0.0.6

i donno else what to do ,

I can play with ppl but i got time limit , can't play more then 1 minute and 10 seconds .

I tried to play with time duration - 1 mins ( but then i can't fight monsters coz it's more then 1 minute for a battle) so it disconnects my friend .

Any other suggestions ?
thanks ahead ,

Why did you change your previous router?
Your answer might not help, but you never know....

Moreover, it seems no one else has a SIEMENS router like yours ...

That's weird. Maybe you got another kind of firewall / anti-virus program running, which has a "test"-circle every 70 seconds?
Have u tried to connect to the internet without that router? Just for a try, to see if it is the router who causes this problem.

well...

well, i have nod32 antivirus , i also tried to disabled it while playing, doesn't work .

about my router , i changed it becasue it didn't work (burned or something) .

And the other thing is that my router is also a modem , it's a modem-router, so i can't just use it as a modem , it's a combined device .

There must be a "time" thing as you said, but i don't know how to find it .
I play alot of online games (american army,c&c...) and it's working fine .

Your router might have a built in firewall?

Perhaps try to disable this within your router setup (should be within the manual on how to access this).

I also did this , i disabled firewall , wireless , open all ports, i used DMZ host to my ip .

The funny thing is that i can play heroes with ppl , as long as my turn duration is less then 70 seconds .

I test this with my friend and we manage to play more than 1 hour while me playing short turns ( less then 60-70 seconds ) ,
If only i play more then this time my then game says :" omer has left the game " . * omer is my friend .

btw: my friend can play more the 70 seconds and we are still connected . only happens when i play more then this time .

figure that out..... it's a mistery ,

Is the game working correctly and everything?

Is it the correct version?

Perhaps a reinstallation of it might make it work?

The game works fine , i can play , no problems .

my friend and i play eevry week , so we have the same version (4.0) heroes complete ( i bought the game ) .

I also removed and installed it again .

I think i will test another router and then i see , i guess my router is the problem , coz with a modem i can play with no disconnection of my friend .

thanks all for the answers ,

Assaf .

If you have a combined modem/router, this sounds to me like the modem half, not the router half.

I understand you are using ADSL, but if you were using dial up, I'd guess that one of your S parameters needs to be changed, maybe more than one of them. Another possibilty is that it's your ISP timing out, not your router/modem.

Do you use the in game chat? Does it still time out if you chat?

Edit:

I don't know which router you have, but here's a link to several Siemens product manuals which contain the command line options.

http://kb.efficient.com/display/1/index.asp?c=&cpc=&cid=&cat=&catURL=&r=0.4159052

BTW I'm using a Siemens ADSL modem myself. I have a Linksys router, but I've never been able to make them work together.

I will try to use a dialer ,
I remember i used the chat in game with my friend , but it still disconnect him after 70 seconds .
The main problem is that i'm still connected (i think) it's just the guy i play with (no matter who) is disconnected after 70 sec of my turn .
