Alright, I'm currently playing it.  The first thing I notice is a stack of mixed neutrals.  Squires appear on the map but when you right click you can see there are also some griffins and inquisitors.

There is a wait button on the combat screen now.

The f'in goblins run away when they are hit randomly.  It's amusing but makes them tough to use.  In fact one group changed sides and attacked my unit!  The retaliation killed the goblins and gave my guys blood rage!

If you can't build anything (not enough gold) the hammer shows up in red.

Interesting detail: 14 damage was absorbed by blood rage, 15 blood rage lost.

When you click on a destination instead of saying 3+ days it says the exact number for example 5.

In options there is a checkbox for "fly-by town view" I unchecked it.

In battle enemy hero maeve cast sorrow on my centaurs reducing their luck to -1.

My goblin was seduced by the succubus temptress.  The neutrals had control of the unit for multiple turns.

They've been reading the forums:  I encountered a new kind of garrison that had many troops stationed there and it was wall with no towers.

Swallow goblin was cool.  My cyclops threw one goblin to gain a shooting attack and killed 80 crossbowmen from close range.  (Gotai has high attack)

How come no one else has impressions?  @Maurice I don't know about the activation.  Someone asked on the ubi forum but no response yet.

See Emilsn's solution, it worked for me.  But I don't feel like playing a demon mission.

So my final impression is that cyclops are godly  Overall the mission was fun a good intro to the orcs and I got to see some of the units from other towns.  The seraph (used to be fallen angel, same textures and clothing) was decidedly underwhelming with righteous might.

The only other new thing I noticed was the artifact 'helm of equity' which brings your stats to equality with enemy stats, if you have a lower level.

I think that locking my thread and creating this official one (PINNED) is the right thing to do Now everyone will be able to quickly check the impressions of others without having to scroll down. Since I still have problems with downloading it, I will appreciate if someone posts something about the new spells...

I just finished installing the Demo, and I see two maps:

Agrael's Trial
Father Sky's Fury

When I click the Agrael's Trial, I see a message that I need to activate my game, along with an "Activate" option in the lower right. When I click that one, it pops up a window, telling me to insert a Demo Version activation code.

Any clues? I never saw such a code anywhere.

Easiest way to unlock it is to download a mod that swaps the 2 maps.

Put the pack file into data folder and enjoy.

So far so go. I'm interested what building there will be on Stronghold? Creature boost, magic channels etc. Sfidanza already made nice creature charts on AOH hope we see good work continue.

Oh yeah and the Blood Rage effects on creatures. Just dying to know those.

I've got a fully built Stronghold at the moment, aside from the Grail structure and the Shipyard.

Garbage Pile: Increases Goblin growth by 6
Hall of ???/Courage/Might: teaches lvl 1/2/3 Warcries (2 of 1st level, 1 each of 2nd and 3rd level)
Walker's Hut: allows a Hero to purchase a Talisman to cast Adventure Map spells (haven't done so yet, they are pretty pricy to say the least!)
Pile of Skulls (between Citadel and Castle): Increases Rage by +50 at the start of Combat (so works kinda like the Pillar of Bones from the Necromancers)
Slave Market: sell creatures for coin

That's it. Total level of the Town when Shipyard is built is 33.

There are 4 levels of Talisman, each costs resources to acquire:
Level 1 (Vessel of Shalassa): 3 Wood, 3 Ore, 1000 Gold
Level 2 (Summon Creatures): 5 Wood, 5 Ore, 2 of every precious resource, 2000 Gold
Level 3 (Instant Travel): 8 Wood, 8 Ore, 5 of every precious resource, 3500 Gold
Level 4 (Town Portal): 12 Wood, 12 Ore, 9 of every precious resource, 5000 Gold

They are inclusive; buying a Talisman will include all spells of lower level Talismans as well. If you already have a lower level Talisman, its cost is deducted from the Talisman cost. I.e., if you have the Level 1 Talisman and you buy the Level 2 Talisman, you will only have to pay 2 of every resource and only 1000 gold.

Finishing a Town will now put a dirty green/yellow house icon on the Town bar instead of a golden hammer.

I feel there needs to be a confirmation box when switching between alternate upgrades. It's now easy to mis-click (did it twice already) and since switching costs resources, such a box would be useful.

I have only one thing to say about this expansion pack.  Kickass!  The entire mechanics have been vastly improved, with Kingdom Overviews and all sorts of small details... I really like it!  The only problem is that it runs pretty badly on my computer, unlike the others, but that's probably because there's no disc for it to stream information from.  Who cares, it's great.  Anyway...

******** SPOILER WARNING********

I've been rooting through the data files for new developments.  I am going to lauder this post with spoilers, so please avert your eyes if you don't want to know some serious new info about the story.

Alaric is now going to be a special hero, as he now has his own portrait.  I doubt we'll get to play as him, but he should be fun to fight at least.  He will have Rutger's specialty.

Three new Renegade heroes have been introduced, bringing the total to nine (counting Isabel, Alaric and Rutger).  In order, their names are Benedikt, Bertrand and Gabrielle.  None of them have any new special abilities as far as I can see.  All of the Renegades have new bios as follows:

Andreas:
"Though a good man at heart, Andreas finds it easier to follow orders than to question them. His refusal to worry about the ethics and morals of his officers makes him a useful commander, but there is some concern that he is sacrificing, piece by piece, his humanity."

Lorenzo:
"On the outside a foppish dandy and a teller of jokes, Lorenzo comes from a family rumoured to have dark secrets and darker traditions. Regardless, they rose quickly to prominence after Isabel returned from Sheogh, though acquaintances are disturbed by the ways they flaunt their new-found power."

Valeria:
"Valeria's is the eldest child of Lord Fulbert of the Wolf Duchy.  Raised as a noble warrior and paladin of Elrath, she fought loyally alongside the troops of Saint Isabel and Alaric.  When they showed their true nature, however,  killing her father and stealing his lands, she rebelled against them.  Captured and thrown into prison, her rage knows no bounds.  She is willing to seek vengeance against her captors, regardless of who she must ally herself with to do so."

Benedikt:
"Scion of an ancient family embroiled in ancient feuds, Benedikt grew up with oaths of blood vengeance. He was surpassed by his siblings in skill at arms, and in a desperate attempt to win power and respect he pledged himself to the most fanatical arm of Alaric's new church.  Now a leader among the ranks of Queen Isabel's troops, his quest for respect and position has eaten what may have remained of his soul."

Bertrand:
"A hard-drinking, tobacco-chewing leader of fighters, Bertrand is never so happy as when he is on the field of battle, leading his men into the teeth of an enemy's defenses. Uninterested in theology, religion, politics, aristocrats, gods, or philosophy, Bertrand will always be found at the head of a mass of inspired troops, charging ever forward to victory."

Gabrielle:
"Physically frail due to a childhood disease, with grim resolve Gabrielle swore that she would nevertheless learn to serve her kingdom in battle. She studied the mastery of griffins, taming and inspiring these ferocious creatures to excel at warfare. Finding meaning and fulfillment in her role, she resolutely turns a blind eye to the rumours circulating about her leaders. "

There's also a new Demon Lord named Orlando.  It looks like he's going to be a campaign hero of some sort.  Here's his portrait.  In some of the data files, he's known as Nelech.  He uses Agrael's specialty.  His bio reads:  "Orlando is more than merely another Demonlord.  When Agrael betrayed the Demon Sovereign and Biara was sent away to cripple the Griffin Empire and its allies, Orlando was the faithful servant that Kha-Beleth sent to foment unrest and recruit worshippers among the Necromancers, Wizards, and Free Cities. Sleazily charismatic and seductively brutal, Orlando has risen to a position of trust and power in the savage hierarchy of Sheogh."

It seems definite that Arantir will be in the game, but his data is ommited from the demo except for one thing - text regarding his specialty.  It's called "Avatar of Death".  The pic's above, and the description reads:  "The Hero can summon a mysterious creature upon the battlefield to fight on his side. The creature's power depends on the Hero's level. If this creature dies, the Hero will lose all his Mana points."

Like most other subjective storyline characters, some of the unimplemented Wizard hero Temkhan's data has been removed from the folders.  Either he will now be a campaign hero, or will not appear in the game at all.

Also, I've located empty folders in the Haven heroes section marked "GhostFSLord" and "Isabell_Spirit".  Make whatever you like out of these names.  I have a few theories myself.

There has been an unfinished, unimplemented Preserve hero called Ergar in the data files since the original Heroes V.  Nival may or may not have plans to bring him into the game properly.  There's also an empty text folder in the Preserve specialties called 'Infernal Machine'.  It's quite possible that this, if it will be implemented, will be Ergar's specialty.

So, according to the text files, the possible new specialties include:

Avatar of Death (Arantir)
Infernal Machine (Ergar?)
Vessel of Elrath (Unknown.  Possibly Isabel_Spirit)

That's it for now.

Thanks!

One thing I've noticed is that both maps start off with some spoken text, without subtitles. I hope that's not the case of the real game, because it's not always clearly to hear ... not to mention that some people may have more difficulty listening than reading English. And what about the hearing impaired?

My first impressions of the game are very good too. Orcs are fun to play, and their racial is quite powerful too. I think the buildings are a bit expensive(i mean you need lots of the various rare resources), and also the talismans are really resource-eaters. The skills are easier to obtain, and the new adventure map objects and arties are interesting.

Stronghold 4 teh win

P.S. Can't wait to see the other alternatives!Tote will be AWESOME! Great job Nival!

My impressions of the orcs are that they are a very powerful mid to early late game faction, by that i mean you should be looking at attacking somewhere between the first cyclops to the tenth,
Also there is mixed stacks, Not hard to recognize them because of the different circles on the ground
A few new artifacts are there of course
new buildings i can see are the consorvetory (see the weeks in the future and for 10000 gold change them to 1 of 3 possible choices)
and one that you can sacrifice units for xp, so i guess inferno is getting something else
My impressions about the orcs lineup is
Goblins- Very weak, almost worse then peasents. but theres a lot of them and they have uses for the higher lineups. their growth rate is quite large! The trapping is useful but when you have 200 goblins its not too great and the spellsteal thing is ok, but i havent had too much chances to use it

centaurs- Not bad but very low survivability and the damage is by no means high, but theyre a decennt unit, the upgrades are a bit better but not by much

Warrior- The backbone of the orc army, which upgrade you take with these can literally decide if your playing definsively or offensively, these units are probably the ones youll wait for before starting to creep

shamans- Now the unupgraded ones give a bad impression, but the sky daughters are amazing with level 3 bloodrage, 14 could do a 540 damage chain lightning or a haste that lasted 44 turns, not much experience with the earth daughters but as far as ive seen they only work well in smaller stacks

slayer- Not much experience either but seems a powerful unit that is not very definsible at all, use carefully id say

wyverns- Quite powerful, but basically the unit that blocks the enemys shooters, not overly powerful but not weak either. Poison one is good in large battles but the electric one is better for creeping

cyclops- Amazing units, they do tons of damage both throwing goblins and normally attacking, personally id say the untamed cyclops is slightly better for almost any situation that doesnt involve a luck crazed syvlan

The blood rage is a very powerful racial, but dispite the number is also very hard to keep . while blood rage absorbs damage it reduces the blood rage you may have wanted to keep to reach another level of blood rage.

Warcrys- all of them increase blood rage levels, these are pretty much the only way to insure you get any blood rage at all in larger battles, the two level 3 ones reign supreme but the rest are just ok,
the warcrys can make you question if you want to keep those goblins for the extra damage from the horde attack, or sacrifice them anyway

Essentially all of this faction is about sacrificing, they have high growth rates though so its ok to sacrifice the occasional unit awau
(may update/ copy off other people)

So far ive encountered a hero that gets goblins every week based exactly on hero level and theres less chance of treachery

one that gives slayers a bonus

one that gets extra rage when an enemy is killed

one that gets a special attack garunteed to be the first turn of combat + 5% more damage to hero attack every level

One that increases centuars attack and defense and that increases 1% Starting initiative for every level
