Changing Music

I saw a topic where someone replied saying that they had substitued H5 music into H3, and was wondering if it was possible to do the reverse, as the H3 music is by far my favorite of the series. Thanks!

That's easy. Example open H3 file Necrotown.mp3 whit Goldwave then save the file as Town-Necropolis.ogg after that just simply replace the original file in Heroes5\music folder and you are good to go.

Alright, I'll look into it, thanks. I want to be able to here the awesome H3 music as I play the equally awesome sequel.
Namely, I want to use the H3 combat themes instead and get Fortress theme in there somewhere.

And do I need to be able to read German to use goldwave?

No. English will do just fine It's not that great program but it's easy to use and does the required cuttings and saves for different formats.

I think any program which is able to convert .mp3 to .ogg will do the job just fine.

Heroes 5 use music files in the format ".ogg", the problem is that files in this format are not very popular, so you need create your oun ".ogg" file first, how?

You need just a .ogg converter, like this stuff, it convert ".mp3" files to ".ogg".

Try to convert this mp3 file to ".ogg".

Now go to your Heroes 5 directory, and open the "music" folder, and create new folder in it with costom name (your choice about name).

Open the new folder and copy your new ".ogg" music file.

Lets use the name "Robot" for our new dir, after this our new music, will be in:

"*Your mine Heroes 5 directory*/music/Robot/The_Robot_Army.ogg"

Now do in yout data folder (data, or dataa1), and go in:

/Sounds/_(Music)/

if you want to change music of the Campaigns, heroes, terrain, AI themes (the loadings black screens), battle themes, the creadits, dwellings, grail, lose or winn battle and capaign, main menu, and towns

(all files for that are in are in different folders, but you can easy see the names right? )

Lets change the music in the Maine Menu in HOF, open the "dataa1.pak" file, go to sounds "/Sounds/_(Music)/MainMenu/" and open the "a1-MainMenu.xdb" file, you'll see this:

The most important for our work here is "Line 3", we need just to replace the link to the original "heroes 5 main menu theme" directory with our own new folder link:

/music/Robot/The_Robot_Army.ogg"

after the editing the file will look like:

Now save the changes and everything is OK

also if you write ".mp3" (if the fail originaly is in mp3 format) in the .xdb file you can put mp3 files and you dont need to remove any old sounds.

Here is an example:

/music/Robot/The_Robot_Army.mp3"

YOU MUST LEAVE THE FORMAT IN MP3 FORMAT!

you can do this with every format, converter is not so needed.

(this was posted by me on other place but cant remember where)
