I can be insulting too you know. Stop playing single player and get focused on multi.
In battle for honor necro can creep archdevils and titans effortlessly and rush a might castle before the end of the 1st month. If you wait with necro till sylvan has a bunch of emeralds, you deserve to be whooped!
Dark is useless against a light user in late game, and phoenix can only do so much.
Once again, necro is a rusher! Playing him as a late game faction is a noob strat. You lack initiative, luck, leadership and attack stats to make your army effective late game. Even if you have half as much numbers in units and he is might, he will squash you with stats, initiative, and light magic.

Dude, I played WoW for over a year, and Warcraft III for 2 years, and still do from time to time.

Your analogy fits in the very basic sense, but that can be said for pretty much every MMO on the market. There are many factors that separate the effective gameplay of both, however. WoW focuses on teamplay between classes, Heroes on tactics.

Actually all factions can take the archdevils by week 4, battle for honor. Some can on week 3, necro amonst them. Academy and dungeon are likely candidates for week 3.

Yes but i meant that you will fight him at week 4. You have to cover some ground first to reach him

I know you guys are saying, I'm not stupid. You never got the whole point of this topic, Necropolis weak sides affect the PvP playing not the creeping in major.

I already live to a cemetary.

I dont think to give more points here I said what I think about this race and how it can be better. It was interesting discussion, at least for me.

We are not saying that you are stupid, you simply would like the necropolis to play differently and we are pointing out that necro also has strong points.
PvP necro is on par if he creeps effectively and that is what he does best. Being 2 levels higher than your opponent and having a larger army will help you in PvP.

I think you want necro to be a strong early, mid and late game - that's why you listed all those late game necro problems. Necromancer's skills are both PvP AND PvE early and mid game. Enlightenment is both PvP and PvE but it's much more PvP early and mid game because it gives stats and intelligence.
Anyway, if you want necro strong late game then I believe it would be possible once ToTE comes out - alternative necro unpgades look nice and barbarians are great at might and evil(?) allined. They may win something late game. Barb + vamps(morale doesn't matter anyway) probably can creep nicely. Necromacers need only ghosts and spells to creep and they will have easy access to fire warriors.

Long time ago i thought that necro sucks, then i was beaten few times by Betruger and i changed my mind Thats solid faction, its just not broken, as it used to be before changes.

It's a MMO term. For heroes, it translates to:
PvE: fighting neutral stacks (usually known as creeping).
PvP: fighting other players

So without having played ToTE yet the impression I'm getting is that despite the changed skill wheel and alternate units Necro is going to play the exact same way because of hero stats and "weak" creatures.

I'm not sure why they don't give the option for might hero and magic hero within a faction.

They should. Then, they could start fixing late game imbalance:
1. ATB mess - it's like throwing 2 dices..
2. Stupid damage*2 luck - with 5, it's like throwing a coin.. Also, what kind of army does that? OMG, we feel lucky lets hit those dragons twice as strong than normally!
3. Artifacts like staff of netherhood or ring of speed should be nerfed or removed.

This one is easily moddable.  In HoF and ToE demo there are lines in the defaultstats.xdb

I modified it to see how it played (based on a request on the ubi forum), it was fine.  Oddly there is no similar line in original hv.

The nerf on motn is VERY noticeable. Not possible to gain 1 mana with 1 damage hits anymore. Any attack with less than 75 damage does not give you mana.
The first two tiers are pretty effective, vampire princes don't seem to trigger sleep often(maybe soldier's luck would help), lich masters are shooters with higher damage but no death cloud. For now I'm occupied with the campaign so I have not done much testing

If nothing else earlygame will not be imba anymore No cheap ways to gain mana fast.

Oh my god. It is always the same.. why do I torture myself by reading these threads when i yet don't have the game

But I really can't understand this kind of nerf of motw, because JUST making it give mana after 50 points would have been a reasonable nerf and blocking it from being imba earlygame. But this I'm afraid makes motw too useless (same was with Vladimir, they should have nerfed only one aspect of him but instead they nerfed 3 aspects making his specialty a joke)

So.. This post is about necros weak sides, so lets drop all the obvious strong sides and defend what the threadstarter (sorry that I dont remember your name and are to fatuiged to press backspace to check) say are the weak sides.

First of all, the hero "problem".

You say its a hybrid? Then make it a hyprid by using enlightement! That raises ALL your stats making it a decent to strong magic hero, and a rather decent might hero!

The "mess" in the necro army.

"No strong 1-3 level units" I'm not THAT known to this game, but are there any town exept of sylvian and acadamy that have a flyer among their lvl 1-3 units? The skelleton archers are great, they are cheap and come in nice amounts, the zombies are quite nice meatshields, not that good PvP, but PvE its a must! The ghost/spectre is nice since it can fly and almost automaticly atract attention because of the 50% miss ability (cant spell it, sorry)! And yeah, that attention works best PvE, but it works PvP too : )

With Lucretica and enlightenment the vamps are a unit that every stack should think twice about atacking, and with the changed necro ability you can get loads of them.

No good shooter? I count 2... So you cant protect the lieches without tactics? Well, then that means they wont hit your real force (vamps and wraiths), so I dont see a real problem with that.. They'll prolly survive the first strike, and a nice raise dead spell gets them back on their feet (and yeah, they get less HP, but now you have troops protecting them, so that dont matter).

"The weakest level 7" Cant say anything about that, as far as I have seen it IS the weakest.. But who sais the game will last long enough for either side to even get close to getting a lvl 7 stack, and I'm not thinking about 1 angel..

"No backbone" Well, aren't they all bones? With my strat the vamp is clearly the backbone along with ghosts and wraiths (although wraiths are not that numerous early in the game..).

Town development problems.

Well.. You dont NEED to build every building before you start playing.. Thats the good thing about necro, and even more with the changed necro, you can grow 1 army outside town, and another one inside town.. Sure its expencive, but try picking the mines you need, dont waste movementpoints if you can walk there with a noob hero (IE one you bought for some pesky 2500 gold). I'm not saying I get a full developed necrotown within week 2, but I dont see the real big problem.

Banshee howl (or am I wrong?).

Well.. Its a dreadfully powerfull spell that cost 0 mana! So if the enemy is infernal with some hundred tranqz you can still use it!

Just 1 little hint on how to build a great hybrid hero.

Enligntment and sorcery (sorry if I spell it wrong).

With enlightment you get all your stats boosted, wich is pretty much the point of being a hybrid. This gives you precious mana to cast all the vital spells (dont care too much about the school, but anything goes if you play it right).

Sorcery aint all that important, but it makes you able to cast spells alot more frequently!

Ending words.

First of all, if you think necro is weak, then play against it using a different town.

Second. I dont mean to flame you, or to say you are stupid. I'm just trying to make you see necro as what it is! The most uniqe town of them all! You need special strats to play it, you need to be flexible! Take your time to find out what troops you like, and focus on them!

Third. Sorry if I made anyone angry, or said anything that are completly wrong. If I did so, then please make a constructive reply. After all, I am a newbie
