I probably could've done better, and I didn't pick the best skills. I ended up taking Stunning Blow before I could get Flaming arrows..and I got Weakening strike, which may have been inferior to a better Shatter Dark perk, but I think I did okay.

No pendant needed.


I usually take defence over atack, atack = more dmg and no more rage.
Defence = less damage and less rage loss.
I noticed my trops tend to fall to fast if their rage reach 0, less trops = less dmg.
With defence my trops usually not fall to 0 rage and survive to hit.
+2 hp is a great bost not only for unit, it makes rage math loss be a lot bether in first tier units and rage shield increase it to 3hp gain.


Morale is a must, is the unique form to increase rage gain is more atacks and battle elation, and shouts of course.

I love enlightenment, bonus stats + 50% more rages are awesome, but its only a 2%

And shater dark depend wich oponent i have, defence build makes PM and frency less dangerous, 45% less dmg from my trops (-15% from attack and +30% from def) not counting perks.

How can you reach Ultimate Racial then? (Just for sure, we are talking about Ultimate Racial as Ultimate Necromancy, Gating, Rage and such, not strongest skill like Howl of Terror, Absolute Rage etc.). Only thing that comes in my mind is that possibility, that Ultimate Racial is unlocked in moment you obtain Final skill, but it never happened to me, since in both MP and single player I never aim for them.

No you can't get them without the pendant and expert on your racial.

Confirmed, definitely no way to achieve Ultimate racial skill without the Pendant. If you're not convinced, try leveling up to level 30 or 35 and visit a Memory Mentor. The Ultimate racial will not be offered whether you've achieved the ultimate skill (e.g. Urgash's call) or not. Too bad, really...

Just curious...what is Bloodlust?? Is that an article or ability I'm missing??

Anyways, I wanted to say that I'm in another tough spot vs Sylvan again...but I have a much better army now.
Here's what happened...

The map is Battle for Honor.
I'm playing Kragh (with attk, war-macs, defense, leadership at Exp level and of course the typical flaming ballista x 3. I also have vitaliy, evasion, aura of swiftness). I picked luck last...so I have basic luck too (and I'm about level 26) vs Sylvan with Ossir.

I was doing great at first..I cleared most of my side of the map and broke to the middle at the beginning of week 4. I cleared the whole middle before he even broke. Then I went up and finished a few more creeps in my area and started heading back to his area. I was about to approach the devils on his side (with like 2 steps left) and suddenly it goes into turn-based mode. For some reason it stayed in simulturns until now..which I think is strange with me being in the nuetral area. Anyways, so it's turn-based and he's right there in front of me fighting the Devils. Finally, after what seemed like Hours he killed the Devils and he's attacking me!

Now the bad news is that I was trying to minimize losses so I had only centaurs (about 250) and a few trappers to block demons. Everything else was on a scout on the way to the Hill fort in the middle. Needless to say, I lost all of centaurs via the Master Hunters, but I managed to take 133 master hunters with me (outta 160).

Anyways, long story short...while I was upgrading and rebuilding my army (and on the way to the Hill Fort with my main), he managed to get both my towns and of course, as usual, the new week comes and he sells all my weeks production to the Slave market (it really pisses me off when he does that!!! :angry
I could've attacked him while he was in one of my town's but he ranked as Challenging, so I was afraid and I avoided it.

Now he's headed to the hill fort to do some upgrades, and I'm not sure whether I should try to chase him down, or just head to his area. I'm almost 100% positive that he's got Summon troops and he's been using it, because I noticed he has more Master Hunters now. If I go to his area, I might be able to get a good artifact or capture his towns, but  it will take a few turns, and by then I'm betting he'll have summoned all his troops anyways.

Regardless, I learned a few things.
1. I should've got Capitol and Castle a lot earlier. I think I got Castle at the end of Week 4 and Capitol in Week 5. I messed up somehow and never seemed to have enough resources (Like lumber/Ore) to get them
2. I should get logistics for Stronghold after I get all the crucial skills like Triple Ballista and some good attack skills.
3. It's hard to know when you will meet the enemy, and even though I was planning on consolidating my armies before I went near his area...well, I guess it was bad timing on my part. But I'm beggining to wonder if I should've keep my WHOLE army on me even when I was going to fight the Arch-Devils. Otherwise there was no way for me to prevent having to retreat (which I tried to do a lot sooner...but I didn't enough money)

Normally castle should be built on week 2 and capitol once you hit lvl 15 in town. If you have no fort it can be delayed for week 3 but you should still get a citadel.

Recent discovery: It appears that Defile Magic has absolutely no effect on spells cast via Imbue Arrow.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

If it's true...I'm wondering if Goblin Trappers would be better.

Also, situational scenario here.
I think most people agree that the best thing to occupy your 7th slot (if you don't get wyverns) by splitting a stack of Earth Daughters.
But what happens if you level up and get the perk "Defend us All" and gain 400 or so Goblin trappers (or any fairly large number) in your spare slot, while you've got the Witch-docs in the other.

Now what?
Should you take them into battle on your main? Have a secondary hero or scout use them to perhaps attack the enemy and kill a few units before the final battle?
Basically you're either losing a lot of Goblins, or you have to keep all your earth daughers in one stick....or give up something else.

I think it would be cool to discuss what would happen agaisnt different factions.  For instance, agaisnt some, I think they would quite useful, but against others..say Academy,who's mostly casters, fliers, shooters..it would probably be next to useless. Unless you wanted to stop Golems or Rakshashas.

I'd suspect that if you have no free slots that they turn into those you already have. Used it only once but I had trappers on me already

Yes, well...I guess that's a good reason to have all your stack slots occupied in most cases, or at least before you get that perk.

But the thing is, I had an open slot and I got Trappers and had witch-docs in my other slot. I ended up using them on a secondary, but they died really fast...so I was thinking it would've been better to save keep them on my main hero

While we are at this builds, i keep wondering does excruciating strike stack with powerful blow at all. Since even without excruciating strike perk, pulling out double damaging powerful blow says "excruciating strike" in attack description. If they don't stack, excruciating strike can be quite obsolete. Any way to see(check) this without in-game testing with "law of big numbers" as a guide?

If it really does two separate rolls for double damage, it should be 0.3+(0.7*0.4)=58% chance for double damage. I don't seem to get it that often, seems more like 40% again to me, which is why I make this question...

Another Kragh-related question would be with possible conflict with swift mind perk. Does his first strike attack work without taking care of random roll of the starting initiative, or does it simply give 1.0 initiative to start with( in that case swift mind perk would be useless).

Hoping someone here knows the answers for these 2 question as they can clearly change my perk-picking a bit.

I know the second one only. The first attack always acts before any other unit or hero but with swift mind his 'normal' move would be affected and cone faster so you could cast a nice rage boosting warcry. I have not tried that but afaik they are unrelated and swift mind should not be wasted on the special.

Did some testing and i don't like the results .

Pounder speciality simply moves the Kragh to 1.0 ATB value, then after attack he is back to 0, so he never gets that random [0;0.25] at start of his second turn to begin with. Since swift mind works before pounder (at the same time when random starting values are distributed), the skill is obsolete. It all happens because ATB is capped to 1.0 (so it seems).

I'm still in process of testing the excruciating strike, so far results are closer to 40% than to 58% so it is likely this perk is less valuable than it seemed and that combo with powerful blow doesn't work . You still get the bonus for standard attack tho so its a good pick anyway.

I think warpath is quite powerful too. Try it with Urghat and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how much movement you get with her.

Yeah, logistics is more likely a 3rd or 4th skill pick now. Maybe my old heroes 3 experience is corrupting me .

I would concentrate on attack, war machines and morale. Tho i feel sluggish without logistics as well

Too bad the ultimate requires bad perks in the war machine area
