One Khan One Clan help

I get to the point where Teal attacks in W6.  I handle him easily and he retreats when he is down to two small stacks.  I try to build up an army but a second teal hero comes in two weeks.  I handle that one easily and get it down to a handful of cyclops before he retreats.  He then comes a third time one week later and I have no hope of beating the third one.

I have followed the tips in this forum and I do not spend a night in the towns.  How did I trigger this series of events?  It is very frustrating!

How do you prevent teal from attacking multiple times so I can go fight the others?

anyone have any advice or walkthrough for the Necropolis portion of the Tribes campaign? It's the one after Ornella becomes a death knight and you play with that new guy.  I'm doing ok but I'm near the end and the armies threat levels of almost all of them are deadly or challenging..

I've defeated the orange mages but now the yellow ones are uber strong and going after all the unused towns. What to do? Thanks for any info!

With patch 3.1, they've made some changes to the script of mission two. A harrassing hero will now spawn every week for the Teal player, unless the previous one is still romping around somewhere.

This essentially means that Teal gets a free army every week, which drops into your territory through a backdoor that you can't close. The only way to stop them, is by putting an army of your own against them that's certain to destroy the one Teal is fielding.

The consequence is that you need to have two sizable armies; one to keep Teal at bay and the other to help Kujin make it through the map. Kujin can't stick around to defend the initial two areas every week, but she does need to carry an army strong enough to handle Purple.

I just finished this mission, but it was rather boring as I waited around for several months on my two starting towns to build up two strong armies.

Ok.  The boat, teal, purple, etc.  I will do my best to describe, explain, etc.  When you first start the map you will go north and find a fork in the road, you go right and you find the town..the part of the fork that goes straight leads you to (eventually) a bunch of cyclops and a shipyard.  Wait to go there until you have handled almost all of the starting area you are on.  Once you have pretty much secured the area that you start at (including keeping teal at bay), you need to go back to your main town and make sure to buy ALL the trinkets you can from the building that allows you to do so.

Then you go go left to the fork, turn right, and head north to the Cyclops and shipyard.  Get past the Cyclops, build a boat.  As soon as you do, you will have invading armies start coming your way.  Take out the two ships, and you can look around the water if you like.  When you get bored purples main hero is found to the far right (staying in the water of course until your reach them).  Kill them, get the town.  Secure THAT area.

Once you have secured it go behind the town in that area, making sure you are on a beach as far into the water as you can get.  Use the trinket and you will summon the boat you built.  Then you can explore that water area, eventually coming to dry land.  In this area is where TEAL is.  Secure the area, kill teal, game over.

Edit : How to handle Teal.  It is by no means easy to do.  First you have to make sure that your army is always max and always upgraded as much as possible.  Use the defense skill and warmachines > tent to limit your losses when using a secondary hero (Been awhile, so please forgive me if I get mistaken on a few details).  Grab as many +stat places as you can, and save before fighting.  Try to get favorable terrain when fighting.  Blood Rage is also key.  Get as many skills as you can to build it up as fast as you can.

I wonder, there are so many people were having troubles with second mission and I didn't have much. Yes, I had to gather bigger army to defeat pirates, but it wasn't so much trouble. No heroes ever came to bother my cities.

But the last mission battle turned me down at first. The major strike force - cyclops were "Puppet Mastered" on second turn, and he put Frenzy on centaurs. Ok, I've learn Shatter Dark, but it didn't protect Cyclops from Frenzy, and smaller unit from PM. But then next bad discovery was Divine Vengeance. On first turn cyclopes broke the castle wall. Next 157 Djinns attacked cyclopes and were killed. On his turn mage casted "Divine Vengeance" resulting in 3860 damage. I was amazed and first time I thought that this spell is overpowered. I've just killed about 1/7 of the army and he can already wipe out entire strongest troop.

I don't know how people actually won it but I did it this way:

1. Unlearned Enlightenment sub skills and learned "Mentor". With Gottai experience heroes that meet him jumped to level 25.
2. Gathered couple armies from Academy creatures and send couple heroes with Shatter Dark and Light.
3. During these two battles killed all of Titans (thanks to Kragh) and mages, and enemy hero spent all of his mana points.
(additional funny things happened during battle - enemy hero put Frenzy on his own Rakshas and they killed all of his golems in one lucky strike.)
So there was almost no work left for Gottai.

P.S. I didn't discover golems quest. Later I figured out that at that time I just could gather a little less than 3K golems and like 50 Titans that are both immune to mind control (I also had Dwarven King boots to protect from Slow, and Dragon Set to boost Titans and other params) and kill him just with that army (including horde anger though)

Mission 2, patch 3.1.
I was also having a problem with the teal player spawning new hero to harass me every week.  Eventually, I managed to get my secondary hero (one of them had gotten killed) with enough troops to block him from attacking.  After teal comes in via the one way portal, he tends to head south to pick up attack skill and/or the level up tree.  There is a spot where my hero can stand and prevent him from passing, and since he is strong enough he will not attack.

Another thing that must have changed with patch 3.1 concerns the purple pirates.  I had sent a hero to sea to get him out of the way and to pick up sea treasures.  As soon as I did that the purple pirates came and landed on my shore -- BUT, they did not advance more than a few squares and then just stood there.  Once I had blocked teal, my main hero could go over and take care of them before heading to sea himself.  Also, the pirates did not seem to have collected any of the sea booty and my secondary hero got it all without even being chased by them.

mission 2 patch 3.1

Quote:

I've finished that mission at least 5 times on heroic and every time brown, purple and teal player made diferrent actions

Restarted this mission many times until i got it right. AI scripting has been quite consecvent.

* brown never activates

* sometime around 3-rd mounth (not sure about exact time, its been a while since i played this mission but its consistent) teal activates, and starts to send every one or two weeks increasingly more powerfull armies lead by low lvl heroes trough one way portals your way. If unchallanged will pass trough brown allied garnison or a second portal towards your first town. (this should not happen!, you should already have secured brown before the first teal incursion and defeat all teal heroes in brown teritory first with Kujin(Untameds and whiping Chiefs + rest army) and then after Kujin level caps and goes to sea, with Telsek and his legion of immortal Warmongers and Earth Daughters).

* 2 purple pirates triggered when building first ship. Willing to land on any shore and capture poorly defended towns and chase weak heroes. Sinking them on the sea saves u the trouble (u have sea logistic artifact, and two lighthoses)

* captured brown & green towns will have tons of troops to recruit (u will never have enough gold to buy all troops).

A few suggestions:

- Agressive crepping (capturing first town in day two and joining armies with Telsek, instantly upgrating all centaurs to Nomads and goblins to trappers) shold give you enough power to clear most your area with haste. Also capture the external dwellings fast. Warmongers and Earth Daughters will play a key role stomping Teal heroes sieging Brown castle.

- "Fear my roar" its essential for taking down casters and arcane archers early (and u need to take them early) -> u need resurces to build town and will never have enough gold and also to lvl enough to break brown garnison easier. Restart mission if not available in first town.

- Defeating all monsters and breaking trough the Brown - garnison
before first teal "visit" allows you to visit more stat boosts, minor gold artifact and most importantly recruit hundreds of centaurs and upgrade cyclops to untamed and slayers to chieftains, and provide battles to level Telsek near the level cap + add the daily gold income. Remember 3 more untamed join u for free near shipyard after u capture brown.

- Visit morale, luck and hp boosters befeore every major teal battle.

Kujin should be able to kill teal heroes as soon as they portal into your area. Telsek with only Warmongers and Earth Daughters and tripple flaming ballista will have to defeat teal heroes behind brown castle walls until he levelcaps, but a few weeks later(with some fresh cheiftain and centaurs) i was abble to defeat them on open ground with Telsek also.

Battle tactics vs Teal:

All of Kujin's bouts happened on open ground(no castle) with Kujin attacking teal.
During the battle Kujin is mostly tied up roaring the slowed giant Bloodyed Cyclop stack. With slow from earth daughters bloodeyed will never get to act after the first round and ruin your day with goblin throws or evil eyes. Your (numericaly and statwise) superiour centaur stack + tripple flaming ballista + goblin throwing Untameds should first take care of the enemy centaurs and then mop the rest of enemy units. When only Bloodeyed remain Earth dauthers will cut them down without retaliation + centaurs + ballista. Usualy at this point the enemy will flee, but with dual chieftains stacks you sometimes get time to kill them all. I got some artifacts from first teal hero. Rest of them don't carry any artifact so its ok when they flee.

When Koujin takes to the seas never to return( with all set artifacts, after Telsek used the engliegtment set to get to lvl cap) its up to Telsek to keep the brown castle with his 300 Warmongers . Morelike 700+ Warmongers , two 50+ Earth daugter groups + some other largely irrelevant troops. (few centaurs, big shaman stack, some chiefs).
Tactics mostly similar - hero roars slowed(earth daughters) bloodyes, whatever centaurs remain + ballista -> reduce a bit of the now vastly supperior centaur stack.
Because Telsek has limited mana he cannot keep roaring the cyclops for ever. Also the huge teal centaurs stacks will soon kill off your centaurs and then inflict damage on the rest of your creatures. Kill flyers behind castle walls and then open the gate and charge with Warmongers. Whip warmongers with chiefs. Kill everything with the warmongers except the perma roared Bloodeyed cyclops. When only the slowed cyclops stack remains -> attack // curse them with the two earth daughter stacks-> u need at least 2 stacks of earth daughters to apply curses and then Vulnerability until defence hits 0 before Tautlain runs out of mana for roar(as their defence drops so will their numbers). At this point the enemy will flee. Use the time until the next "visit" to revisit hp,morale & luck boosters.

About the units used:

Goblins -> trappers on day 2-3, many stacks will see action first week helping to clear walkers. Past that convert to WitchDoctors(minor use versus casters) because superior melee damage. Growth is sufficent to allow for the ocasional 1 creature stack loses(block, steal retaliations..) and later Shaman sacrifices and Cyclop throws. The WitchDoctor stack will soon reach respectable numbers(good for horde's fury) and also abble to pack serious punch especially if backed by attack/battle frenzy. Sadly no Necklace of the Bloody Claw this mission ... On the final stages of the mission they become disposable.

Centaurs -> upgrade on day 2 to about ~60 Nomads(superior damage) and go conquer the map. Nomads + trappers(many stacks) + ballista should overcome all walkers. Will be the backbone of the barbarian army until enough Untameds will be available(and the gold to puchase them and the chiefs to whip them to unstoppable action).
Will need "Fear my roar" warcry and fortunate atb placement to overcome shooters and casters with almost neglijible losses.

Warriors -> will first see action as Maulers in brown garnison assault, and first Teal engagements (Kujin)(i only upgraded the Cyclop building on brown castle) so for a while their attack power will be needed.
Another critical stack, their numbers must be conserved -> with Telsek specialy, retrained as Warmongers they will hold the brown castle after Kujin leaves for the sea. With two castles and two external buildings their growth should be up to the task.

Shamans -> Will serve as shamans for multiple slow//haste. Will not contruct upgrade building in first castle, will use the one in brown castle. After u get brown castle convert some shamans as earth daughters. Excellent hexing and non retaliating melee attack, cast slow // haste, however the lack of gold will prevent u from fielding them on large numbers. They work great in smaller numbers also because of the great special abilities.

Slayers -> did not upgrate the building on fist castle. After capturing brown -> hire Chieftains. Critical units for the mission's success, split in 60- stacks(at least 2 adiacent so they can boost each other's initiative) they can keep a killer stack act multiple times "per turn". (best suited are of course Untamed cyclops with their multiple hit stunning attack, but it also works with centaurs, maulers/warmongers .. Can also help push an EarhDaughter to cast a slow//haste in time...). Again gold will be the limit.

Wyverns -> did not buy one, the entire scenario. Granted with warmachines they could be used to kill caster//shooters without loses, however those dangerous stacks where gone and all mines secured before i even built the wyverns building(ave Fear my roar)...In retrospect you could do away without ever getting the building. Gold is critical.

Cyclops -> Untamed, only build upgrate in brown city if not already built. The gold amount required to reach "critical mass" numbers is significant. Better save up. With multiple hit, outright kill or 0 initive is the best stronghold offensive unit.
Untamed Cyclops are scary on their own right, however when paired with a few Chieftain whiping packs they become unstoppable units of destruction able to take multiple actions per turn. Only downside as level 7 units they are of course expensive. And even with the extra gold mine, gold will be in short supply.

Gold issues:

This mission you will be offered huge numbers of creatures for hire, however the gold for doing so will be lacking. In the begining, before breacking brown garnison u will need gold to build your economy, the creature dwellings, warcry puchase, warmachines , and recruit troops... Having low level heroes some gold chest will also have to be sacrificed for some critical level ups.

- build capitol(+4000 gold/day) asap (after centaur upgrade)(murder, beg steal .. get it done)
- capture gold mine asap (after capitol + warcry lvl 2 for FearMyRoar
- break brown garnison asap for extra town and minor(+250 gold/day) gold artifact.
- Telsek with ledearship skill was offered Estates -> take it without hesitation, he will be able to defend the Brown castle latter even with this, one useless skill.
- Later when pirates are sunk send Brown hero to gather shipwreck treasures..

2nd Stronghold Mission

I've got some difficulties here, how to get to the Green player? A heavy armied Purple hero guard the way to the Green, and, of course the 2 other ships keep on chasing me.

The Dungeon armies got landed on the first Shipyard, but the Elves keep chasing on. How to do this? I ignored the Teal player b'cos I think by fighting the Teal is just waste the armies remained.

1. How to pass the Purple?
2. How to get the Green castle?
3. I heard some said that I've to get 2 pirates, what pirates? Where are them?

Please help meee...

The pirates are the purple players, the sylvan one and dungeon one. Both are pretty though and can take some units of yours, but your biggest threat is the teal player teleporting.if you succsesfully beat him or are able to shake him of until you get a strong enough army then you should stay put until you have about 20 untamed cyclops and the bulk of your army, then head to the shypyard and recruit those cyclopes, board a boat beat the two pirate ships, then go to the east where the last pirate is,beat him and you reach the green player. From here on it's pretty easy depending on which difficulty you're one

I need some help with answers

Heroes 5: ToTE 3,1 - Second mission of the Stronghold campaign.
Difficulty: Heroic (maximum possible in options)

Well, the first mission was not so easy too, especially because I have avoided to gather the "heads" from the rural folks buildings, due to the moral things. But the second one, is even harder.

I have defeated a few armies of ~50 Advanced Cyclops, ~500 Advanced Centaur, and so on, some of them with group that leads by Kujin, some with troops the leader of which is Telsek.  But then they performed attack simultaneously with the two armies each of one consist of ~70 Advanced Cyclops, ~700 Advanced Goblin troops, and ~700 Advanced Centaur troops that was too much, even to my overpowered heroes and powerful troops... . In addition, I cannot sacrifice the Goblins, due to the moral things, so this is limiting my troops abilities.

Well, the Wyverns was incredibly effective in this mission, due to their numbers (+2 for a week transport due to the building), the Green Wyverns can defeat anything, and everything with proper support, due to their high initiative, huge range and ability to fly, in addition to the insane damage + regeneration. Very powerful unit, indeed, my poor Inferno troops cannot even stand near of that.

So what a frigging purpose of this mission, to stay and wait for impending doom? Or what? Or I have missed something? I see no way how I can perform a successful attack, because two armies on the field, and one of them have Advanced Logistic , it is hard for my armies to run away or intercept them, even with a powerful artifact that increasing the range,
And this stupid portal, which I cannot close near the city is horrific . through this portal enemies attacking with a speed of sound my city. The group of idiotic Cyclops on the North road from the city, cannot be pushed away from the path, and they do not want let the pass to my armies...  - so the road to the Harbor is totally blocked off.

Darn, I need to Restart this mission, I guess so... the missions with the Stronghold is a far more difficult than with this Necro-guys,  or, is there some winning strategy?

Thanx for the answers.

Added::::::::::::::::::

The problem is next, I need to move some of my hero to the sea surface, and collect good there, after the capturing of the closest city, the stupid Cyclops that protecting the way to the Harbor, and which I want to eliminate, have joined to my army!

But when I moving one of my heroes to the water surface, this annoying guy come and attack my new city. The foes can come in two variants, and every time with a more troops in their armies, but this is not a big problem, I have enough army reinforcement to defeat them, but I have not enough resources to obtain this reinforcements,

first is the easy one, something like that:

The second variant, is a much more harder to defeat army.

My own heroes troops is looks like that

Fortunately, enemy is not using Battle Roars, and that because I can easily defeat them by my army with a Kujin as a leader. When Kujin moves to the water surface. Telsek is left. But Telsek have a problems with defeating the hard one opponent.

So the question: Which army I need to care with Kujin, to successfully defeat this stupid pirates on sea, to explore the small island, and to reach the Green City?

Which army I need to left with Telsek, to successfully defend my Cities?

P.S. Just another cool photo .

Added:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Well for now I have a huge army - ~2,300 Small fighters, ~1,000 Battle Horse Archers etc. I have a three 20 level hero, which is powerful indeed.
I have managed to ambush and defeat this crazy purple army, that will attack after you will move little bit further on the water surface.

Kujin have explored all available water surface, defeated dragons on the small island. But then I have found this Letos guy, with his troops. I cannot defeat this army by only Kujin. Because she have single until - 18 Advanced Cyclops.
And I cannot summon lot of army from the city army, because I have no Energy. So I jsut curios, what a minimum army is need to defeat those Letos? There is a lot of troops he have, including lot of Black Dragons forces, which is annoying.

Or I need to ship Kujin thousands mile back, and then return with the army?

Thanx for the answers.

P.S. I have completed the mission after 8,5 of game months .

Heroes 5: ToTE 3,1 . Stronghold Campaign, Difficulty - Heroic, mission 2 "One Khan One Clan", walktrough mini-guide

This mission of the Stronghold campaign is far more difficult than the stuff with a poor Kuroque, or that poor Necro-guys. Ornella and Arntire. Not a hardcore mission, but still is very hard.

The map:. (I have shaded the map little bit, to avoid much of spoilers).

Heroes and their skills: (all this heroes is 20 level, which is level capacity of the mission)

All this heroes that will be available through a mission is a very good, for an example, second hero I used for fights vs hard attacker, and third hero I always used in the battle vs easy teal attacker. Well, I found this skills is a very useful, of course different users will use different strategy. But one NOTE - if you will not pic War Machine, by any of your hero, this mission may turn from very hard to hardcore for you, especially without "fear roar" (second level battle cry, exist only three levels of battle cries per city somekind of the magic guild.)  stuff.

Overall strategy:

As has been said, by the one general from the movie ("Fail Safe"), - sometimes the best defense is a great offense. Indeed, this is the exactly case. So take War Machine, and try to capture Golden Mine as soon as possible, may be a good start. But beware. Golden Mine is protected by goblin mages, which is attacking from a far and using "Firewall" skill - that can do a serious damage. In this case, will be useful War Machines, Shaman-guys, Fear My Roar.

Explore and defeat all monsters on the available territory, and then you have two opinions:

1. To wait for the first attack of the Teal-guys.

2. To force and crush the block-post and rush to the Brown-guys. And make first battle vs Teal there.

NOTE: If you will wait for too long, Brown-guys will attack you too! I have reloaded previous save, because of that .

In my case, I have do not know, that Teal will attack so my first battle was near the first city, and then - the counter-strike.

NOTE: Usually enemy heroes will hunt your main hero - Kujin. To force them attack the city, place a weak hero right before the city, enemy army will attack this hero, you must flee! (you will recruit this hero later, in the tavern). And the then your city will be attacked too, in the most cases.

NOTE: Do not place Kujin near the Exit-portals, or too close to the enemies, they will haunt she...

In the any cases, you will have two cities. The attacks will be approximately once per weak. The enemies will come in two variants: Easy-Hard-Easy-Hard-Easy and so on.

NOTE: Sometimes may be no pause between two attacks.

This is the easy variant.

And this is the hard one.

They will not use Battle Cries, so you have a chance.

NOTE: The Brown-guys will use Battle Cries! But if they attacked, you probably already lost....

To defend the second city, we may left two heroes, and use the +10% Health Building before each attack. You will have enough amount of time to get it, before next attack, the portal which is protected by Elementals will be very useful. Kujin must be far from the second city, before you will gather a strong army.
In the city defense, <imo> will be useful such troops and skills.

I have not used "sacrifice" or "throw goblin" abilities, so Cyclops were useless in the case of defense. You can also use the Wyvern-troops, they a pretty good for a "ninja-style" attacks behind the walls. Main advises for the second city defenders:

1. Place one hero before town, and flee them after attack, second hero must be inside the castle-walls. Recruit hero from the tavern after fight.

2. Do not let the Cyclop-troops to throw a Goblin-fighter on your army! Scare them, Kill nearest goblins with your Battle Cries, with your archers, etc.

3. If you will destroy their Catapult, before it crash the walls, they will be not able to rush you.

4. Be careful about the Hard-enemy Wuvern-flyers, they can easy get through a walls, and do carnage inside...

So defend and gather resource for the army. Explore the full available map, Visit all Perma-bonus Buildings by your main hero, and this will be useful for the other heroes too, search for all Set-artifact because they will be teleported to the next mission Then we can transport this troops to the first city:

And lead Kujin to the Harbor.

NOTE: Green-Wyvern troops, was actually main force in my army. This is allround unit, with good range, good attack power, suitable armor, and good initiative. If they will be used carefully, and do not faced for too much of loses - in large numbers, they can wreak a chaos and destruction through the enemy lines...

NOTE: The choice between Cyclop-guys with a kind of Baseball Bat and their fellas that have problem with their single eye (a poor creatures indeed) was hard, because both of them is good fighters. I have choose smashers, well but be careful! They smashing anything in front of them, your army is not an exception...

Then buy a ship, and get Kujin little bit North. After you will see a Pruple-guys move  progress sidebar, dock back again. and wait near Harbor until this guys will arrive

Kujin must have no huge army! Because they will fled, and then try to make a sneak attack on you first town. Of course if you do not want to face the Purple guys in the sea, or hunt them through all water surface. Run back to your city, but not too far, because in that case Purple-guys will back on their ships. You must be just on few steps further than them.

go into your city.

Recruit the army, and be prepared for siege. The purple guys will attack in a row, first attacker will be without shooters, and second will be with a lot of long-range shooters. Anyway, I think to defeat them into city, will be much more easier than in the field or in the sea.
After defeating those two guys. You again have a two variants.

1. Take a small army, and explore the full available water surface by Kujin. Search for all Ship-wrenches, Chest, downers, etc. And then come back for a big army from the first/second city (cyclops + wyverns mainly). This how I did, because I did not know, that I will need a huge army... Do not worry, in the ship-wrenches you will face no serious resistance, 1-2 Cyclops fighters will truly enough.

2. Take your army and ship to the large island Entrance on the North-East. Before that you can also defeat and obtain some Set-artifact from a small island right North-North-East, from the Harbor.

On the beach of the second large island you will be attacked by another purple kamikaze. Also without a long-range shooters .  Well I hope you will gather enough troops to defeat him. In my case, that was easy enough, almost without loses, due to the long time that I spent shiping through the sea, till my army growing.

Then explore the second island, artifact, perm-bonuses etc. And gather a huge army. You will know what you need to do next. The missions is seems to be easy from that moment.
