Here is the replay of my yesterday's game against Willgefors. I was necro against him being dwarves, on a random map. In nine times out of ten it would end up in a slaughter on my side. However, this time Willgefors went to confindent, and he assumed that I was TOTAL noob, and attacked me in the castle.

That certainly was a lot of attack oO. I feel sorry for Larry though with that terrain. Perfect against such a charging faction but he couldn't get any unit to block the entrance. And that torpor didn't trigger (OMG) on the chieftans didn't help. Still I'd thought that this could have been a lot less onesided. A Phoenix there with 27 (or 31) SP would have done wonders I think. But the terrain was delicious^^.

About the Fortress Sylvan match... I'm pretty sure the Battleragers could have gotten the Emeralds to retaliate on the Pixies. Instead getting a the Magmas to retaliate on his Thanes with Thunderclap... the pain. But much like the other game I have no idea why it would be so horribly onesided. I mean ok the charged cleared one stack but that's not something that impossible to recover from, is it? Then again Sylvan did have all the right spells and the Dwarfs were too occupied that to get to the shooters or take out the druids. Weird...

The shooting gallery was not fun too watch... I personally despise camping but I realize it can be a popular strategy the way you did it or even more specialized with empathy divine guidanceing your crowssbowmen or whatever powerstack you want to do the dirty work. Larry was pretty unlucky with the unicorn resisting the puppet and Zoltans special not working on magical immunity... that was pretty bad. And yeah I don't see how he could have won that one. For my personal taste that wasn't a inparticularily enjoyable fight.

Hey,this are some replays i made before and during this summer hope you enjoy!
This battle made my friend rage-quit the game lol, watch and see why.
Here is another one that proves Orc's strength;they dominate all, except when sylvan hero gets proper skills and those nasty archers

and here are some battles from campagn missions:
1
2
3

I have a question about the last mission of TotE,don't know whats wrong but i have cleared the whole map, there is only the inferno castle in middle, the problem is that i have my hero and about 25 titans, where there are 200 devils(summon about that much more) and 300 lvl 6 and so on...What should i do?

Defeat them of course You should have a town, all the artifacts you can buy from it or dungeon towns, memory mentor to choose whatever build you want.. But didn't the tier 7 joiners appear? There should be a few hordes of archangels, magmas etc. At the the very worst you wait to increase your numbers but it's possible to take them on week 4.

wow i just had the closest battle ever in all my time playing heroes V! the map is a new one, i forgot the name but it's on maps4heroes.com, "lucid dream" or something like that.

anyway, i fought a garrison with:

25 phoenix
25 phoenix
25 phoenix
999 water elementals
999 fire elementals
999 air elementals
999 earth elementals

my hero was the dead doc(he ain't no croc!) kaspar and i had an army of(note that this army isn't that big because the faction is haven, i didn't lose any haven troops at all and mentored out a really mean klaus!):

4 wights
2 poltergeists
2 poltergeists
25 poltergeists
5 lich masters
10 vampire princes
1087 skeleton archers

i accidentally moved the skeleton archers out into the open and was like "ohhh my gawd!!!" i underestimated the phoenixes speed and the water elementals' circle of winter.

anyway it got to the point where i had 1 skeleton archer left and the next turn was the phoenix's and then i managed to turn everything around and won losing only 3 lich masters! how's that for a comeback!

unfortunately i forgot to save the replay.

yeah, i had to pinch myself to make sure i wasn't dreaming, but no the amount of experience kaspar has can account for that

however, i still find it hard to believe that i won that battle; i was pretty much resigned to the fact that i would be using klaus after.

on the other hand the stars and moons were certainly in alignment for kaspar: great summoning/dark spells, last stand, and sandro's cloak made him a demi-god of death in this map.

Plate is awesome I see you took down that yellow orc town with Arantir too, was fun. I had a slightly different plan though: After only cyclopes remained I used blind, many vulnerabilities, stole the retaliation with a clone of my ghost stack(had only one stack and a few skeleton/zombie fodder) and kept hitting with phoenix and avatar of death. Once they got free I could close the way towards ghosts with my 2 summoned units to make the cyclopes take the longer route. Afterwards I sped up the fight with fire warriors and phantom forces on them.

About that ghost vs angel battle. You could defeat them with just 2 vampires and raise dead I bet you can guess how.

Funny Gotai siege, didn't think it could have been so easy. I had gotten that legion of golems from the desert to avoid divine vengeance hurting my orc units. Seeing how the ballista does all the work I assume you played the campaigns under 3.0? Wulfstan battle is a lot more interesting if you use runes, ballista is boring after a while.

You are a master exploiter, you'd have fared well in toh. Now here's something of mine

Wufstan Final

Edited by Maciek at 19:19, 30 Dec 2009.

- Plate - I wish I hadn't left that runic axe on wulfstan or I might've reached a nice 100k damage with a single spell(was a little more than 80k when I had 500 golems and swift mind and a little more than 90k when I had 14 golems and last stand instead - I don't count overkill damage here)
- Arantir - ghosts came mainly from haunt(mentoring+secondary heroes); a good idea(when cyclopses are alone) is to get rid of their rage - blind with frenzy can do that quite fast
- ghosts vs angels - yes, now I know; it's the same mission as above, probably my very first battle with last stand; also, I don't think I had a single vampire at that point
- Gotai battles - actually took a couple of reloads: fear my roar doesn't work on creatures that have nowhere to move, so those mages need a more attractive target (like 2 stacks and tent lined up) than ballista or catapult; I also needed to keep enemy hero busy(by targeting creatures with arcane armour to get rid of it so he would recast it - that would be harder with a tweaked ballista, but still doable, I think) so he would run out of mana before he starts casting some chain lightings or curses of the netherorld; vs alaric I first tried vampires, but they just didn't regenerate fast enough and somehow all haven meele units charged them
- under 3.0? - yes, ballista was one of the reasons(the other being those 900 cyclopses) I didn't upgrade yet - I know ignoring whole defence might be too much, but it doesn't make me like the idea of ballista being tweaked
- I was quite surprised by that obvious last stand counter on demons(hellfire)
- your Wulfstan battle - I liked how you waited those demons out with Thanes - demons almost made a full circle around them and ethernal runes triggered every time you needed it! that damage was great as well - if your enemy had DV with expert light, this alone(other frags not counted) would've made a DV of over 6k dmg; if only you got good morale(you only had +2) the turn you used ethernal runes on thanes, with wait command you could've squeezed berserking runes in before that multi-attack. and with some more casting speed(like mass cleansing instead of normal one) you could've probably made a full circle of enamies(teleport seduced, so hostage, bears behind thanes - I think there was enough space for them, but I'm not sure)
- just curious: Have you ever seen anybody win a single toh final battle using just one type of creatures?

Truth be told the incorporeal rune was accidental misclick

And yes I have but not in the way you expect. I had rushed stronghold with my warlock hero and since I caught him unprepared I didn't bother buying my army, only used my stalkers. That said there were a few chances for him to discover where my units were hiding, in the end I survived with 1 or 2 stalkers

How else to win with 1 unit only.. Maybe if neutral death knights manage to half the opponent's best unit, then you might argue they'd won me the game Seriously though nobody depends on a single unit even if we are talking about excessively trained paladins.

About the ballista tweak the problem was that a week 2-4 orc rush against sylvan was always successful. Ballista was outrageously powerful in the battle if we forget about the creeping.

Hi,

I'm giving another chance to H5 since my last disappointment and I must admit I'm very pleased with all the changes with ToE and patch 3.1. Still some ultrapowerfull spells but all in all balance comes with all these imbalances . Creping with regeneration spell for example is very easy, can clear most of the map with few units while secondaries with stronger army do other things. Wasp warm and hive are also creep killers .

But I have problems with stronghold and their lack of magic. It seems they need war machines skill badly to compensate or they will suffer some losses in creeping. I'm playing Dragon pass map with all factions and on beginning of week 5 I have 5 cyclops (no units upgraded yet) and if I want to take a full utopia I need to use only those cyclopes and 6 goblins with triple balista , flaming arrows and aid tent. If i bring full army I lose too much units . Is there other ways to deal with utopias with stronghold? Someone has a replay to show other ways?

Hello I’m looking for tips on what I should have done in a battle. Here is the replay

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MJTKG8M9

I was playing with three of my friends, I was playing Orcs using Hagash, one friend was playing Dwarves, and the other was playing Necropolis. The map we played on was named Weakening Strike. I was doing very well, and was in control of the majority of gold mines.

My noob thoughts on Orc units

Goblins

A huge stack of tier 1 creatures can cause some significant damage in the late game, but Goblins seem too weak to be effective fighters, and they are not even great blockers because they run away. I didn’t even get a chance to set any traps. In combat they just seem so useless. The only real benefit I noticed from the goblins was their high growth, which really added power to Horde’s Anger.

Centaur Marauders

As Hagash I specialized in Centaurs and I had the Unicorn Bow, which removed the range penalty. I was able to get great damage from them. I surrounded them with units for protection, although before the battle I knew it could be a problem with the Thunder Thane’s lighting attack.

Warmongers

I used the Warmongers just for blockers, I do like the damage output of Maulers better, but they tend to die quickly.

Earth Daughters

I mainly used Earth Daughters as blockers, and to cast haste. I used to use their chain lightning spell, but it doesn’t seem that effective in the late game, and it takes a long time to cast.

Chieftains

I used to use Executioners because of cleave, but I found the Chieftain’s Order of the Chief ability works wonders. I kind of miss the damage output of the Executioners now.

Wyverns

I never use Wyverns or their upgrades because they are expensive and their stats aren’t great. Plus they don’t receive any benefit from blood rage. I tend to use the money instead to get as many Chieftains as I can because of Order of the Chief.

Untamed Cyclopes

I was tempted to keep my Cyclopses back and try out Goblin Thrower, because I had the Unicorn Bow, which would eliminate the range penalty, but the ability to do huge area of effect damage with the Cyclopses club seemed more logical. I think I may have been too aggressive with them, and shouldn’t have sent them out on their own like I did.

What do you think about the Goblin Thrower ability?

It seems like the Orcs really suffer against magic. Divine Vengeance hurts like a ************!

So what would you have done in my place? To me it felt like a pretty embarrassing loss as I had a far larger army.
