Heroes 5 latest patch information - Patch 1.6

After JJ's post on CH yesterday, we expected it soon: patch 1.6 will be released today, at 6pm CET (4pm GMT) as always!

I'll post the downloads links and the detailed readme here when it is released.

4. Known issues
===============

Switching off the 'V-Sync' option in your video driver options may cause twitchy animation in Towns if you rotate the camera manually.

Loading a save from a version in another language may cause font and textual interface problems.

Yahoo Messenger may conflict with multiplayer. Please make sure it is inactive when playing the game on ubi.com

Any changes made in replay via Movie Maker are not present in the save loaded with the Combat Replay. Movie maker should be used to view edited replays now.

A number of maps created in the Map Editor via the Save As command from the single map will have the same names in the User Campaigns Editor and in the Custom Game Menu irrespective of the names that were entered during the save procedure.
To correct it you will need to change the names of these maps via the Map Editor in the ordinary way (View menu -> Map Properties, General Map Properties tab, a Map Name field).

To use new hotkeys in moviemaker, add the following lines to the input.cfg file located in your current profiles folder (My Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles folder).

bindsection replay_battle_screen
bind skip_scene 'ESC'
bind set_pause 'SPACE'
bind step_forward 'RIGHT'
bind step_backward 'LEFT'
bind step_to_start 'CTRL' + 'LEFT'
bind step_to_end 'CTRL' + 'RIGHT'
bind speed_up 'UP'
bind speed_down 'DOWN'

5. Troubleshooting
==================

5.1 Outdated or incorrect video drivers may cause some issues. Before contacting support, please check you have the latest versions of video drivers and the correct DirectX 9.0c version for you system. You should find the latest version of the drivers here:

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp for nVIDIA graphics cards
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27 for ATI Technologies graphics cards

DirectX 9.0c version can be found on the game installation disc.

5.2 Also, before launching the game, make sure that no other programs are running.

5.3 The game does not support playing through http proxy. The player needs a direct (real IP) or NATed (most intranets) internet connection. With a firewall, the player needs to open the following ports:

6668 TCP (IRC servers(chat in lobby))
40000 to 42999 TCP (Various ubi.com servers)
44000 UDP (CDKey servers)
45000 UDP (NAT server)
42500 UDP (CDKey local port, can be configured by the player by using the game config files, "setvar net_ubi_cdkey_port = ")

8888 UDP (The game itself can be configured by player by using the game config files, "setvar net_game_port = ")

You mean the new ToE openness? No, this hasn't been brought back, and I assume will remain a ToE-exclusive.

In the mechanics changes, the Pillar of Bones DE bonus is mentioned in the readme: it is back to 150 (instead of 20 in 1.5). The other 1.5 improvements are still there (hero bonus doubled, 250 as base DE pool instead of 200 in 2.1/3.0).

The 3.0 Cavalry Commander update has been applied as well, even if not mentioned in the readme:
Cavalry Commander Jousting bonus is now 10%+Level*1% (instead of (Level+1)*2%)

Hmm, is this in TotE as well? I didn't see it yet - but very useful!

I wonder if this is translated properly. In TotE, we have "Low", "Moderate", "Challenging", "High" and "Deadly".

For the Danger status, I assume the readme has been written by the devs, who used their basic terms, while the ones actually in the game have been improved by the loc team.

- In version 1.60 it is as you see in the readme. in 3.0 it is as you mention, Maurice ; "Low", "Moderate", "Challenging", "High" and "Deadly".

- Guz

Edit But as far as I can see, it's the same value , only different "tags".

MAP EDITOR UPDATE NEEDED ALSO TO HAMMERS OF FATE!

One thing that seems to be little stupid is that latest patch gives you option to create a campaign in basic Heroes V game but Hammers of Fate´s map editor doesn´t have this option. Now, you can´t create maps with Hammers of Fate things on it with basic game´s map editor and also random map generator is only in HoF´s map editor.

So it is not fun at all if you can´t use all the options in same map editor. Anyone wondering the same matter? And if anyone knows is there going to be a Hammers of Fate map editor with campaign creating option?

That's not what I meant.
my question was if for example
in campaigns will you still have fallen angels or blood angels (not as alternatives but as a campaign only feature)
if the renegades are changed by the alternates who you still can't recruit

I play HOMM5 on my laptop so I use a no-CD patch to save battery power when I am not hooked up to an external power source (or on vacation like I am now).  Now before you think "OMG, w4r3z!", you're wrong.  I bought both HOMM5 and the HoF expansion.  I just don't like having to pop in CDs when I want to play a game.  I would've bought the download versions were it not for the fact that they're not for sale to people outside the North American continent.  So... I need to resort to scouring the web for alternative ways to enjoy my fix of HOMM5 when I am off the grid.

However, I cannot find a no-cd patch for the 1.6 patch.  Does anyone know where I could find one?  Game copy World does not have it (yet) and I can only assume the 1.6 patch does not include this functionality.  I can't install 1.6 right and now and run off the CD as I am about 5000 Kms away from home right now.

I *really* wish software/music/movie companies would stop punishing people who buy legitimate copies of a piece of software or movie by subjecting them to all sorts of copy protection mechanisms that the owners of illegal versions never have to deal with, but that is a whole other thread.

Gr,
Mightor

I've applied patch 1.6 to initial game.  Couple of questions / comments.

Quote:

Mana bar on strategy map
(Allows mana bar indicator near move bar side to heroes icons at the bottom of strategic map)
!Not show permanently! Activate by pressing a hotkey ("M")

M was already a hot key for "move".  Oops?

Quote:

Sleep mode for heroes
(Allow the players to turn on/off the end of turn notification system for the selected heroes)
Activate and deactivate by pressing a hotkey ("Z")

This is something I wanted, and was pointed to patch 1.6 by someone responding to a previous request.    Happy camper now.

Dark Energy Displaying (Adventure Screen)

Since my preference is to play Necropolis, this is also appreciated.
Quote:

Icon to indicate that the town development is complete.
Icon to indicate that there is not enough resources to build anything that turn.

Very nice additions.  Saves a lot of checking.

I don't quite understand this one.   I am playing multiplayer games in hot-seat, only me as live person, rest as computer.   Is there a way to make the screen where you select game to creat not show a game you have already played?  If so, that would be nice.

Nope, movement is now bound to the space bar.

Why are you playing hot-seat if you're the only player playing? Wouldn't it be better to play a custom game?

Well sometimes I play hot-seat duels with the 'Autocombat' he's quite a good enemy but sometimes makes stupid mistakes. But i have noticed when i'm playing against him or and AI if i have -1 luck i will score bad luck with 3 attacks and retaliations of total 6 or 7.And if he has +2 luck,of total 5 attacks 3-4 are double damage.I mean that's to stupid. One time i had a stack of Unicorns with -1 morale they skipped 3 turns in a role. And He's creatures have -3 morale and only one of 7 skips turn. That So dumb it sometimes makes me so mad especially on key battles on missions

I'm playing the games that came with the disk.
I am playing single person, hot-seat multiplayer because that is where the games are.  I have played all of the campaign games, all of the single player custom games.  Only the multi-player ones are left and that is the only way I know of to get to them.  (e.g. No Man's Land, Land of Outcasts, Windrose, etc.).

Do you know of another way of accessing them?
