I have another question and I wonder if someone can help me with this: is there a way to make a template that would add a tear of Asha to random maps?

Yes, you can (although I never tested it myself). There is a line at the very end of each template:

<GraalOnMap>false</GraalOnMap>

Make it "true" and you will have tear of asha on map

Yo, folks, start playing RANDOM TEMPLATES RMG!!!

Most of you are unsatisfied with the experience gained through originial RMG, however, when it is used together with HUMAN made template, suddenly, the produced results are astonishing!!!

I could not even tell that the map has not been made by a "person"! Now they are BALANCED, DYNAMIC AND PURPUSEFULL

Anyway, uncunningly its better to test it once than dicuss it here for months... Just try and you WILL like it

P.s. The only thing that both players need to know is the logical layout of the template - actually, that's what makes the game more purposefull. AND each time the generated map looks very different for the same template!

I made all the steps u told but when a player try to join his game crush down.
All the difference between us is where the game is installed (mine in D ,his in E).This is the problem?If so I need to reinstall the game.

I had similar problem with Fiur while with two other people everything went all right. We were able to solve the problem my removing other maps from the MAP folder. Just leave the generated map alone in the folder.

hmm, Main reason I like random maps is the lack of knowing where things are and where my opponent is etc. Having to hunt the map to find what may lie in the darkness.  But it sounds like with the user made templates, you pretty much know the layout and know what basic elements are in your area etc...

To clarify - with template you know the number of different zones and their respective connections as well as zone contents.

To me it just adds a lot of dynamic and pressure! If you look in the first page of this thread at some of template schemes you will notice that they usually feature a multi lateral crossroads each with different rewards and guard strength. It also becomes a poker game with your opponent of guessing where he might go

There are a lot of advantages compared to usual RMG. To name just a few, quite rapid town construction, great deal richer, denoted treasure zones AND usually some time before meeting opponent as well as "known" path to him through zone scheme.

YET, there are a bunch of random elements like zone size and placement, artifact count and level, terrain, dwelling and other structure presence and placement inside the zone.

Basically, template greatly improves RMG while preserving its nature

Lol, none of those is like Jebus. They are "reasonably" rich; rich in comparison with original Nival/Ubi templates, which are almost empty.

Another question: is it possible to select only one area as underground? I'd like to have the Dungeon in the underground and all other factions on the surface, when I check the underground value I get random factions below the ground and it's a bit annoying so I've disabled it. It would be great to have the Dungeon below and the other towns above.

I believe it's the main point why people keep on producing maps at all -  the custom ones were meant to be 'multiplayer balanced' and therefore boring and unsatisfactory. Now we can bring back old heroes' gameplay!

I'll test my own custom template today and let you know if I suceed.

I wonder if water zone could be created assuming it can not contain too many adventure objects at all?

EDIT: None of the templates (there are too many of them on the list,m btw) work, all cause crash at the beginning dispalying something like "A 001". Any possible solution to this?

Also, the templates names are extremely hard to manage :/ Just a bunch of codes. I don't even know which is the name of my own?

As far as I know, water doesn't work, you can have pools of water but no water area. I may be wrong but I found no evidence anywhere that the RMG could create maritime maps.

Edit the name of the template [NameFileRef] and rename your xdb file accordingly.

There are 8 areas (one per faction) and a neutral one that must be crossed to get to the others. The neutral area is marked as Haven (because it has to be one of the 8 and Random would be unfair for most factions. It's a rich template with 6 abandonned mines, plenty of treasure buildings and artifacts on the map guarded by very large stacks of creatures.

I mostly generate Large maps with it and it worked real fine. Sometimes there is no Utopia but there are lots of goodies, it's rich, you can expect to get extra spells from mages (perhaps Arcane Library if there is one on the map). By the end of a game most surviving heroes are at least level 26-7 (I once got Vinrael up to level 31 with the turban and armour of enlightenment).

No, you have an xdb file which has a name, the NameFileRef (in that file) must match the name of the xdb file.

I uploaded my template so you can download it if you want: link.

Just put it in Program Files/HmmVToTE/Data/RMG/Templates and you will be able to use it.

The templates work indeed, but game still crashes when I click "generate" as I described above :/

You mean you can't generate a map with any templates? I had a quick look at Ubermash:
