Cerberus? Cerebus?

I know this is something really trivial but if I am not wrong, Heroes III named the upgrades of Hell Hounds Cerberus while Heroes IV was Cerebus. The latter was also used for Heroes V. Is this accurate and what is the difference in mythology sense?

Cerberus is the correct word. It was the three-headed dog that guarded the gates of Hadi. Hadis was the place where the dead go in the ancient Greece. I didn't read the whole link, but it starts correctly; here.
Well, what can you say? Heroes III was a better game after all (and overall) ...

dimis said correct. Right word is Cerberus (or Kerberos). In Greek Mythology Cerberus live in Land of Dead and guard the gates of Hades.

Orpheus and Hermes slept it. Orpheus slept by music and Hermes slept by water from river Lethe (river of forgetfulness). Finally Heracles (Hercules) capture it to final test.

And dimis said correct to "Heroes III was a better game after all (and overall) ..."

Cerberus / Cerberi (when more than one)
Cerebus is something totally different which I don't know anything.

It's originally intended to be "Cerberus" with the plural being "Cerberi". It's something that can be blamed on the part of the game production, after all, apart from terrible gameplay that had the whole HMM fanbase complaining, Heroes IV is highly known for its spelling mishaps.
