What are your opinions about the 3 major Consoles?

Well, the three consoles that are probably competing against each other are:

Wii (I hate that stupid name)
Playstation 3 (PS3)
Xbox 360

Now for me, I find that the 2 more popular consoles for teens and above are the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

I think, that with the Gamecube Console, and then onto the Wii, they are targeted towards Smaller Children and Teens.

And in my opinion, they do not have as many "violent Games" which alot of people like, especially the older Teen Males (not sure about Women).

I find that since the Xbox was kinda like a PC but for games and in a console form, that that was the better console of the three at the time, being the PS2, Gamecube and then the Xbox.

The Xbox 360 and the PS3 are more "serious" Consoles then the Wii is, but that is just my opinion.

What are your opinions on these three gaming consoles?

Smells like anti-Wii propaganda.......

Of colurse, out of those 3 consoles, only the Wii and PS3 are worth anything. The Xbox 360, despite some good games, is not much of an achievement over it's predecessor.

Out of the new consoles, I think that PS3 is propably the best(considering the games made for it and such), but it´s most serious setback is its ridiculous cost(600€?!). Xbox360 doesn´t look bad either, and at least it´s cheaper than PS3.

Of these three, I think that Wii is the worst. I just can´t imagine playing games by swinging some block to get the game characters do something..

I own a Wii, since it seems pretty pointless to own a wannabe-multimedia console if you already have a decent PC to play games on.
Plus, it's really cheap. I have 3 games so far (LoZ: Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption), and I still spent less money than someone buying a PS3. Heck, even the games are cheaper than PS3 ones.
(Ironically, Nintendo also is the only company of the 3 that doesn't sell consoles at a loss)

I can only say that anyone that prejugdes the Wii solely on the name and the family friendly approach is missing out.
The controller is great and makes targeting much easier than a normal controller would.

And Metroid Prime perfectly proves that the console can also be used for mature games.

The graphics might not be amazing, but they are pretty good considering Nintendo didn't really focus on the whole "Next-Gen" hysteria. For me, the Wii is the only console that can truly be considered Next Gen since it provides new features instead of better graphics. And as all Nintendo consoles, it's very reliable.
Ye olde N64 once froze up on me, but that's about it.

That said, the Xbox360 is pretty solid, surprisingly. The old Xbox wasn't good for much other than for Halo.
Then again, it has recently become famous for the red ring of death, and one of the early production lines was bugged aswell.

The PS3 however... the starting lineup was made of fail and one good game (Motorstorm), and it hasn't improved much since.

All 3 consoles are good and for different kinda players. I own old PS2 and therefore PS3 would seem obvious choice when i could still sell the old console and keep the games. I play games mostly on PC and what i like about consoles is that there are genres what aren't in PC. RPG's and Fighting games such as Tekken etc is my idea of good console games, long story game whit many hours of play time and some game whit fast based 2 player action, that just for me.

Wii sounds bit "childish" but actually it's the console what i would want. New Zelda and Mario's looks nice and i would definitely want to play these games but it's just too much "waste of money" to buy this console just because of these games. Too bad PC games don't offer anything like this, thats what i like about Wii it's different. PS3 and Xbox 360 gives the usual "every year update" of games 2007 something etc. Xbox 360 might be ideal console for gamer who actually buys lots of games and prefers console gaming over PC. Halo was good example, i would never buy FPS game on console again (i have had: No One Lives Forever and Times Splitters 2) both games are alright but whit out mouse and online multiplayer games FPS games are nothing! Split screen action whit friend is just aren't enough for me.

I would rank these consoles (and only for me) like this:

1. Wii - Cheap games and console and fairly different games 4/5p

2. PS3 - Lot of games and RPG's like FF XIII sure sounds tempting. I would buy this if it wouldn't be so expensive 3/5p

3. Xbox 360 - Good all around console aim sure but it just don't offer me anything new. Xbox should have some "maskot" that it could sell interesting games what other consoles\PC don't have 2/5p

Would be cheaper to keep the PS2 and buy an Xbox360 or a Wii with an actual lineup of own games. Besides, from what I hear, the PS3's sold in some regions aren't backwards compatible with most PS2 games because they don't have a vital piece of hardware.

Well let's see where the prices will drop. I will not buy it on 600€ even 400€ sounds too much. Wii is now 269€ and that sounds quite good but aim not buying console right now, maybe next year or year after. (Probably when PS4 is the next best thing )

Of the consoles I go for the 360. As said the red ring of death were a phenomena for those that brought a 360 from the earliest production lines. I have one from the newer versions and havent had a singel 3ROD experience. I had two 360 before that but no extra cost luckily for getting a new one.

Theres alot of good games to the 360. Gears of War (though a PC version are on the move to) Halo 3, Mass Effect, Project Gotham Racing 4, Fable 2 and more I just dont bother with listing up.

Only drawback is that the 360 make more noise than a jetplane take-off!

The PS3, dont get me started on that one...My friend has one, msot game dotn use the consoles full potential, and it has a problem reading older PS games, while the 360 can do that fine, thanks to a downloadable (you can also burn the emulator on a disc insert it in the 360--->install) emulator for the old xbox games.

Wiii? No besides some renovations and interesting ideas, I havent experienced that one to make arguments whetever or not it is an acceptable console.

And consoles are great for gaming, PC too, but you could save some credits on buying a console, you then dont need to worry over the system requirements, which are quite high these days!

These are pretty hard times for a Pc gamer considering the Vista and DX10 requirements, pixel shaders and so on... Wii is the best console since it doesnt need graphics to be funny, i think the games could be a bit more serious however. The 360 is great too, maybe a bit ordinary compared to the Wii but ordinary works for me. The PS3 has been a great dissapointment for me, i´ve always liked the PS2 and was looking forward for the new console. Then: Bang! huge prices and boring games! The graphics are great but for the price i could easily upgrade my computer into a monster!

Can't forget SNES or Megadrive Oh the games they have. [Swings his cane at teen members of HC.] Not everything is about graphics you punks!

For newer ones I have to say Wii. The controls are just amazing. Finally something really worth buying and not just graphics. Too bad I don't have the money. Anyone who says even Wii is cheap is lying. N64 costed about 120€ when it was new. Wii is "old" and still over 200€. Games are good and really good exclusive ones like Zelda, Metroid Prime etc. etc. There is one major issue though multiplayer. It is still in its infancy with Wii but you can download all classics for older Nintendos. A new innovative console with few setbacks and a good price for buck. 4/5

360 has amazing multiplayer though it's not free. The newer falcon motherboard fixed most of the overheating issues making it stable. Best performance right now. Largest amount of good games available. Not to mention exclusive games like Halo 3. It's still the same old though. Nothing innovative. Only brought the PC multiplayer capabilities to consoles. Money, money, money... It costs a lot. You have to buy HD-DVD-Rom separately. If you bought it for the best graphics you need a HD tv too. Now that's expensive! Hardcore console heavy on networking but not much has changed. 4/5

PS3 has few games(for now). Almost no exclusive ones worth mentioning(yet). Not as good performance as 360. This mostly because it's so complicated(8 cores for example). The coding for it is much harder. Coders will learn and this will change. Not as good multiplayer as 360 and never will be. Very expensive. Has a blue-ray-rom and is cheaper than most blue-ray-players! Very good multimedia capabilities overall. Needs a HD tv to get all benefit as does 360. A multimedia center with huge hardware potential but lack of knowledge to use it. Maybe after a few years... 3/5

Wii- is the biggest waste of money I've ever seen. My brother has one. It has horrible graphics and the only redeeming feature is the motion sensor, the one thing which ALL games snow the crap out of. Such as in a shooting game: SHAKE THE WIIMOTE TO DODGE! or SHAKE THE WIIMOTE TO CLIMB THE LADDER etc etc. The fact that they spend most of their time trying to show it off is self defeating.
1 star

PS3- Awesome graphics and power, but is expensive and there aren't many good games for it (unless you ONLY like racing). More games will come out for it though. Online is the bare minimum, very few downloads, though I expect that too will change over time.
4 stars (until better games come out)

XBOX360- Although older than the others I haven't noticed a drop in the graphics from the new 360 games to the PS3, and it still beats the hell of out any Wii game's graphics. For example Halo 3's graphics are as good as any PS3 game, except maybe some of the racing ones which is expected seeing as theres not much else for a racing game dev to worry about other than graphics Best range of games by far, and XBOX live is far superior to the Playstation version. It does cost, but not much for subscription, and downloads you just pay for what you buy.
5 stars

When prices are taken into account the grahics of Wii are quite good actually. They are better than Xbox afterall. But if you ask me the graphics of NES are good enough so it's a matter of taste actually. As is the choice between XBox 360 and Wii(or it's a matter of money). Graphics or new gameplay. I prefer the gameplay but for some graphics are more important. If that's the case then you should chooce PC and Crysis

I have to agree that there are way too many games for Wii that don't have anything else than swinging the Wiimote but there are also way too many games for Xbox 360 where there is nothing but graphics so it's a +-situation.

The games for Wii havent been that bad i think, and in the future the game developers will learn to use the nunchuck control in more fun ways. The same goes for the PS3 and 360, if you look at the graphics of one of the earlier PS2 games. For example Red Faction, and compare the graphics to one of the newer games, like Final Fantasy 11 you see differences. The gamemakers havent had time to adapt to the new systems yet(as JoonasTo said). What will be really interesting is seeing how the games look at the end of this console era, when all secrets of their power has been revealed!
By the way, doesnt Crysis come to Ps3, like Oblivion did?

PS3- Too few games, great graphics, too expensive, early technical problems, the launch was a fiasco, those that are backward compatible though can make up some of the flaws.  5/10  When price goes down and more games are out, will improve drastically.

Wii - Suprise suprise, some of the wiimotes have broken off.  Some have even damaged their users.  Didn't see that one coming /end sarcasm.  Childish graphics, but novel approach to games.  Would like more RPGS and tactical games.  3/10  Doubt this will get much better barring divine intervention.  The name suprisingly does not bother me.

XBOX 360- Has great potential, hope it doesn't follow it's predecessor though.  Microsoft has to get off it's duff and start getting games pumping out ASAP.  Else it will just be a better graphics, more expensive XBOX (which is useful as a paperweight if nothing else).  6/10 being conservative until I see they are actually going to do something with it or not.

Some people have used them overly enthusistic and the early version of the wriststraps didn't hold well enough if people swung it in full force and it slipped. In other words, there have been cases of people hitting others while swining the wiimote, or breaking TV-screens. Nothing that you couldn't avoid by common sense, but people did it anyway. Some probably did it on purpose. Nintendo has reacted and reinforced the wriststraps and added warning screens to every game reminding you to use the wriststrap and have enough room to use the Wiimote.

On a sidenote, the Wii kinda suffers from rushed 3rd-Party programms that are definitely guilty of whoring the Wiimote functionality ('lo Ubisoft), but there are a variety of good games that use it well.
