Good job! Just balance levels 1-2, and creative abilities should be found.

I have an idea for an ability:

Insectiod:
A rank like "Undead", "Demonic", "Elemental", "Mechanical", etc. All the faction's creatures have it.
Insectiod creatures are not affected by Mind Control spells, and are not affected by any spell or effect that affects their initiative.

The ability itself doesn't matter so much, the concept is the point here.

Me and Elvin are working on a little bit of our own.  We are going to post it as we can soon, in another thread.  If it is liked in part, in whole, whatever, then we would be more then happy to add whatever is liked to the community creation.  My goal was to help here, but to be a little honest, I am totally confused and lost.  I was going to help with the background, campain, and such but I have no idea where to begin off of what is already established .  It is a very good thread, and I love what I have seen though.  My chaotic mind is a bit unreliable sometimes tho.

Nice (sorry for not replying to the HCM, I have a lot to do around now).  I finished a part of the old tale I was working on, more will come when I get the time to finish it off.  Here it is -

CADDIGAN THE CONJURER

They say King Caddigan the Conjurer was among the most learned of all the Mirgadian kings.  They also say he was the greatest leader they have ever seen.  And some of them even say that he walks the world today - and they may be right.  But there is little to show for this claim - like so many other Mirgadian rulers, King Caddigan fell victim to forces beyond the borders of his own lands, and his fate came... eventually.  But not before he had accomplished great things.  Many regard him as the finest spellcaster of his time.  Though tales of his exploits have long since descended into obscurity, we historians have pieced together what we know for certain into a lengthy tale.

Caddigan was born in the year 651 of the Third Epoch, exactly two hundred and ten years before the Fourth Epoch began.  The child of two Mirgadian nobles, he was raised in the southern lands of Azuras.  Before Kaglemmar was rent asunder by Charon the Destroyer, you see, there was no Sea of Alkumas.  The twin reaches of Kaglemmar, Decimar and Beytral, were one.  Azuras neighboured Chargalor, the lost realm of Galmeade connected modern-day Bacorus and Hargarran, and the Tyl'Affanon Mudlands which now constitute Gatagyth's dark hallows were inhabited by the Elves of Wis'Tarreth.  The now-miniscule peaks of Cathir's Vale once towered from their present location all the way across Decimar's borders, looming over the Chargalor / Azuras border and that of Hargarran and Galmeade, also stretching around the Lake of Glyssa which is now part of the Alkumas Sea.

Anyway, the young Caddigan proved to be a genial master of the Ninefold Reams of Magic.  As is the custom in Azuras, many young children are obliged to engage in studies within the nation's countless universities, in order to be of use to their society - whether lowly engineer, talented sculpter or infamous spellcaster, all are expected to contribute.  Though of Mirgadian heritage, Caddigan was no different.  In fact, he excelled at his craft, despite the fact that there are no records of inherent talent in his bloodline.  Caddigan chose the path of the Wizard, and was apprenticed to the kindhearted though irritable Sage, Ulvanis Verge.  In almost no time at all, he became one of the greatest Adepts of his day, mastering the disciplines of Change, Permanence and Renewal and dabbling in Sleep, Endings and Ascending.

The time came when old Verge could teach Caddigan no more, and off he was sent into the Spellbinders' Elite, charged with leading the finest o Azuras's armies into battle against the Elves of Tyl'Affanon and the Barbarians of Hargarran.  At the time, Azuras was by no means a peaceful nation - it was ruled over by the Na-Thur Conclave, the least... respected rulers of their day.  Even Emperor Charon himself was less power-thirsty!  The fifteen Na-Thur sought only to conquer Kaglemmar for their own, using the more noble spellcasters in their midst to beguile their enemies into believing that Azuras remained a neutral land.  Far from the truth, it seemed.

The young Caddigan, now a fully fledged Conjurer and grandmaster of the Renewal Discipline, was sent to "deal" with the Elves on Tyl'Affanon's borderlands, expanding Azuras's control.  Under the watchful eyes of Commander Ellmac Jevalar (a tried and tested supporter of the Na-Thur) he and a contingent of forces travelled northeast of Azuras to the border between the deserts and the swamps, known as the Kharospal Wastes.  Beyond these badlands, they journied into the Tyl'Affanon reaches, poised to attack the Elven Outpost of Dar'Halator.  Finally, after almost three weeks since setting out from the capital, they reached their goal.

Dar'Halator was by no means a major Elven settlement - in fact, the population was uniquely sparse, and the small outpost's only defences consisted of the nearby militia and any reinforcements from Vyar'Astara, the Vinekeep.  The Na-Thur had counted on an easy victory here, simply designed to show the Elves the full measure of Azuras's power.  So it was that Caddigan and his comrades reached the towering, vine-adorned walls of Dar'Halator.  The Elves, of course, were prepared - their Druids spoke to the jungle trees and the nearby animals, their Rangers detected large armies through the rumble of the earth.  And they struck with surprising tenacity.

On the fourth week, as Commander Jevalar's forces marched toward the walls of Dar'Halator, battle broke out around them.  Jevalar remained at the far side of the field, deliberately avoiding the conflict and barking orders at his troops.  His resolve grim, Caddigan rushed into the heart of the battle, gripping his crystal staff and firing Lightning Bolts at nearby trees, crushing numerous opponents while other allied mages stumbled about and threw cantrips at the enemy.  The conflict raged on for many hours.

Heavy losses claimed both sides.  The Elves were not numerous, but they were fierce and had been far better prepared than Jevalar's.  Caddigan counted thirty deaths attributed to his own powers.  A grim total indeed, he mused, wishing for either side to have the honour to disengage from combat.  This did not happen.  The Elven army thinned out, until very few remained.  Jevalar's now-sparse army had scraped a victory.

And as the last elf fell, a deathly silence stilled the woods.  Both armies had been decimated almost to the man - a few ragged survivors staggered about the field, none of them Elven.  Caddigan surveyed the scene, and then...

...Jevalar turned on Caddigan, brandishing his broadsword, a bestial, near-sadistic rage visible in his glare.  Caddigan backed away in terror, as is natural when one's own Commander waves a blade in one's face.  Just as Jevalar rose his sword and prepared to strike the Conjurer into the next life, his furious expression turned to one of horror and agony.  The old Commander stopped still and collapsed to the muddy ground.  An arrow protruded from his back - Caddigan had been saved by those he had been sent to destroy.  Scrambling to his feet, he grabbed his fallen sceptre and menacingly pointed it at the trees, circling the area, watching for his saviour lest they attempt to slaughter him as well.

To be continued sometime.
