Should i give the Longbowmen "Double Shot" or "No Ranged Penalty"?
Both Archer and Longbowman have "Scatter Shot".

I say double shot. Marksmen in homm3 had double shoot, but if the longbow man has pretty good bows, that can shoot long, no ranged penalty is best

Sounds good as the Longbowmen shoots faster than the crossbowmens.

Wait, what skills have crossbowmen. Since a crossbow is probably stronger than a longbow, corssbowmens shoul get No range penalty and longbowmen should get double shot

when i said insectiods, i didn't mean insects... i hope people can understand that.

to make myself more specific, i say insectiods, when in fact i mean insectesque monsters with an ever powerful desire to devour all life. they have all been bio-engineered for specific roles in the combat, from hordes of easy to kill, easy to by things to enormous powerhouses, belching spores that can change the landscape, smashing knights aside like flies. i was thinking an ever present menance, that even demons cower in terror for fear of being destroyed. something that was so all encompassing in its devouring, that even magic was in danger of being devoured!

i didn't mean insects who had been left in a bag of "Cyrus's magigrow, for all those elves who like their insects big, you sick perves". i'm sorry ted, i like your proposal, but it doesn't really fit with the lore, or the work in progress racial.

I like the new spell schools.  Interesting and different.  Still trying to figure all of them out, however.

Not sure if/where these would fit, but I have two unusual spells for these new spell schools.

Winter Equinox: All 'evil' races get bonuses to attack, defense, and initiative.  All 'good' races get penalties to same.  Neutral races are unaffected.

Summer Equinox : opposit of above.

Not really.  I want to stay away from the directness of good and evil.  Also, that would mean Demons would benefit from cold.  (Not logical)

I did, actually. I read through most of it, but did not have time to give you feedback. If I should give some general pointers, however, I think it's kind of a pity that you abandon the concept of specialised schools and go back to the old thing where everything is just on great mixture of blessings, abjurations, curses, evocations, conjurations etc. in the same school. Besides the more, should I say aestethical, reasons for liking the organized system, I think it's difficult to make so many more or less equivalent schools like you do without having some of them being more powerful than others. Just compare Heroes 3 Earth Magic to Fire Magic, and you'll understand what I mean.

Also, I'm not sure I really agree with the number of "Summon Things" spells.

Seems to me personally that the spells would befit a Druid more than a range of heroes.  While I think they're great, I don't feel that they're suited for all factions, especially with all the summoning spells.

This post will be for Mirgade, the human faction in Sceracion.  I tend to work backwards somewhat so please excuse gaps in the history for now, I'll fill them in as I go along.  I have other kingdoms in the making but I'm concentrating on this one until it's done.

Mirgade
The largest of the human realms, it lies on the east side of Cathir's Vale which seperates east and west Kaglemmar.  Formerly populated by Barbarian tribes (which were unified by the warlord known as Mir in the Third Epoch) it is now a bastion of noble Knights and the holy priests of Ennara, the Goddess of the Sun and Day.  Mirgade's history is relatively long and bloody, having been ruled by over forty different kings and queens since its establishment.   The general terrain includes grasslands and scattered rocky wastelands outside the major cities, which include Sepallia (the capital), Ennar's Glen, Tymonwatch and Fuanoch (other outposts are numerous).  Mirgade is allied with Bacorus and Azuras, neutral towards Sarrevax, Wis'Tarreth, Vantalost and Kal'Domiel, suspicious of Gatagyth and Quartis, and at war with Chargalor.  Haven is their primary town.

MIRGADE'S RULERS

1-18, 20-24, 28-29 Not Ready Yet.

19: Dannril "Warmonger"  (403-455  Third Epoch)
Introduced the (captured) Sarrevaxian Ballistae and other war machines to Mirgade's armies and came to the aid of the Dwarves in Honengard from the Dark Elves, thus assuring a tribute of enchanted ores and metals for the kingdom.

24: Caddigan the Conjurer  (684-753  Third Epoch)
Born and raised in Azuras to Mirgadian parents.  Became court mage and later appointed King's successor by Melmoth I.  Established diplomatic relations with Azuras and brought the first Mage Guilds into Sepallia and Tymonwatch.  Assumedly died of old age - body never discovered.

27: Kalor "Elf-Friend"  (12-77  Fifth Epoch)
Aided Wis'Tarreth in the Battle of the Charred Domain wherein Charon's forces burned and conquered a significant part of Wis'Tarreth's northern borders.  Departed west across the Hallowed Sea with the Elven Refugees - presumed dead, body never discovered.

30: Immanuel "the Vessel" III  (198-232  Fifth Epoch)
Believed to have been spoken to by Ennara, Goddess of the Sun and Day.  Decreed that Mirgadians must begin worshipping Ennara, thus founding the Holy Ennarian Order and appointing the first Priests and Bishops in Mirgade.

31: Mir XIII  (232-279  Fifth Epoch)
Condoned the rise of the newly-founded Ennarian Order's worship of Ennara, Goddess of the Sun and the Day.  Died of a fatal disease at the age of 67.

32: Lord Garax "Bacorian"  (280-367  Fifth Epoch)
Known for quelling the wars between Mirgade and Bacorus, eventually establishing peace between both nations and sending a large regiment to aid the Bacorians at the onset of the Charonian Wars.

33: Immanuel IV  (368-399  Fifth Epoch)
Led Mirgade and Bacorus in the battles against the Demigod Charon, ruler of Chargalor.  Died in the penultimate battle, before Wis'Tarreth, Azuras and Gatagyth's armies overcame Charon.

34: Kalana the Redeemer  (400-471  Fifth Epoch)
Notable for re-enforcing Mirgade's borders, re-establishing the Ennarian Cathedrals destroyed by Charon and forming an alliance between Mirgade and the Angels, holy winged spirits of Ennara's will dwelling in the clouds above Mirgade's borders.

35: Melmoth II  (471-553  Fifth Epoch)
Formed a pact between the Angels and Mirgade, thus further enforcing the Ennarian Church's position in society.  From the end of his reign onwards, Angels serve as the true power behind Mirgade's armies.

36: Immanuel V  (553-614  Fifth Epoch)
Ruled the kingdom relatively wisely and without incident, apart from leading two minor battles between Mirgade and Chargalor.  Founded the city of Ennar's Glen.

37: "Lunescean" Fordred  (615-636  Fifth Epoch)
A supporter of Sarrevax's Lunescean Church, believed to have been insane.  Invited the Lunescean Insurgents from Sarrevax into the kingdom, thus bringing about the controversial dual worship of Day and Night, Life and Death.

38: Gallene of Sarrevax  (636-664  Fifth Epoch)
A Sarrevaxian General, appointed by Fordred as his successor.  Aided the rise of the Lunescean Church and practically sabotaged the kingdom from the inside, instigating petty wars with Kal'Domiel and Azuras.  Overthrown by the people and executed, tightening hostilities between Mirgade and Sarrevax.

39: Mir XIV  (664-679  Fifth Epoch)
Destroyed the peace between Mirgade and Wis'Tarreth by establishing foresting outposts in the Elven woods.  Assassinated by an arrow with green fletchings, thus inadvertantly shattering the alliance.

40: Narret the Protector  (679-706  Fifth Epoch)
Known as "the first sane ruler we've had in decades".  Tolerated but argued against the Lunescean Insurgents and restored the damaged peace with Azuras.  Made progress with Wis'Tarreth but failed to stop the Kal'Domiel border attacks, and steadfastly defended the realm.

41: Allenine  (706-732  Fifth Epoch)
Improved relations between Wis'Tarreth, Azuras and Mirgade.  Failed to prevent the Lunescean Insurgents from maintaining a grasp on the populace.  Passed the throne on to her son, Valdane, before her death.

42: Valdane  (733-Present  Fifth Epoch)
The current King of Mirgade.

You have a point.  I had in mind that some kingdoms share the same faction, like Mirgade and Bacorus are both Haven (you know, the way offshoot nations are sometimes pretty similar).  Here's the basic list so far -

HAVEN:  Mirgade, Sarrevax, Bacorus
SYLVAN:  Wis'Tarreth
ACADEMY:  Azuras
INFERNO:  Chargalor
NECROPOLIS:  Gatagyth
DUNGEON:  Kal'Domiel
SANCTUARY:  Quartis
TOWER:  Hargarran
SNOW ELVES:  Vantalost  (they're part of the background history and need not appear in the game)

I know for sure I ommited a few factions, but I'm too lazy to check which ones.  Please let me know which ones I didn't include (apart from Dwarves and Orcs, I'm working on them)
