Wow nice job !

Do you think is it possible to make it closer to the original savage treant ? I mean with twisted beard, blue glowing eyes, pine tree leaves, symbol on the forehead... but keeping the general shape of beta treant ?

glowing eyes and symbol should not be the problem. twisted bart and and pine tree leafs are to difficult (for me) to change, because it has to be changed in the model and not in the texture.

EDIT: done...

I like them so much I downloaded them both ^_^
Question for Sneps: are you in a mood to make a little mod for me? If it's possible to change current gargoyle model with recolored Pit Fiend (also occupies 1 square but I won't mind if it occupies 4 as long as it works ) Can you do it?
@ryo_wufei - Dude (or dudess ) I've sent TWO HCM messages to you but you don't seem to receive them...I don't know what is the problem...

Hi guys

The problem of the Treant Mod was also thought over at our modders community on Nival's forum and we have made a similar mod with one bug - no death animation for the new treant.

As I see it, this mod has the problem fixed. So I'm giving you the screenshot of our variant of treant texturing and asking you if you mind if we will (or will not) combine the mods together.

Sorry for possible mistakes, the time is 3am here now ^_^

Hi ArchWarlock,
indeed, I saw your work on Nival forums, and I was actually working on it to fix the issues right now.
I'm referring to the no death animation, and the faulty adventure map model. So these are now fixed. As well as a few textures that weren't exactly in the expected format (especially the Savage Treant's icon, which was DXT3 instead of A8R8G8B8).

I appreciate both your and Sneps' work, and I've been thinking for a few days about how to update the Treants mod on AoH for ToE (on the mods page).

I decided to go with the Savage Treant from ArchWarlock as alternative upgrade, because the leaves and beard use the texture from the actual alternate upgrade, while Sneps' version uses the leaves from the Ancient Treant recolored in green, so I wanted to favour diversity. And the specability animation is a little better (no crouching).
This really doesn't do justice to Sneps' great work, especially in organizing the files inside the mod. Kudos for that.

The updated mod is available at:
http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/downloads/mods/Treants_ToE.h5u

I'll be updating the AoH mods page soon. In the meantime, feel free to tell what you think.

Well, icons are my worst drawback I found a way to get over with them, but still I felt it's not the right one. Thanx for the hint.

Hope you won't mind if I post a link for it on Nival's. Your name and copyright will be placed of course

No problem. Don't forget ManiaCCC who contributed to the first Treants mod.
The mods page is updated.

Tried the mod out. The Anger Treant's animation is working fine, the Ancient's - not. What could be the problem?

Indeed! After much testing, I found where the problem lies, but I'm still looking for a solution: the "Take Roots" ability prevents the death animation from working! Just remove it from the Ancient Treants, and they will die correctly...

I started by trying ArchWarlock's original mod, Sneps' mod, our original Treants, and no mod has the correct death animation for the Treants. Even the original Treants mod in 1.6/2.1.

I'm afraid that this could be a bug in the game itself, and that we might not be able to fix it. I'll keep trying though.

Psatkha from our forum claims that there's no way to fix that. He tried out and says that all the files work fine, but not then they are attached to one specific creature - Ancient Treant.
Don't know if it's right or wrong. Maybe it can help you with this mod.

Texture resolution question:

I play on "Low" resolution in Audio/Video Options.  Treant and Treat_Guardian looks appropriate in this resolution, but Anger_Treant appears to be stuck in "Very Low" resolution.  The A_T pic in this thread looks to be of higher res.

How do I fix this in my game?  I'd rather that the A_T be of higher resolution than everyone else, than lower resolution.

Yes, as I said, it's because of the Take Roots ability:
- if you remove from the Ancient Treants, the death anim will work.
- if you give the death anim to, say, Anger Treants, it works. But if you give them Take Roots as well, it won't work.

Look further down.  The next to last folder is called UserMODS.
