Luck.
Navigation.
Scholar.
Eagle Eye.  (ugh!)

kidding.

provided we're in a land-filled map, my ideal combo would be that of making the heroes more mobile and can smack enemies quickly:

- Offense
- Armorer/Archery
- Tactics

- Logistics
- Pathfinding

- Wisdom
- Earth Magic (Implosion & Town Portal definitely)
- Air Magic (Haste, Dimension Door, & Fly)

add to that Cloak of Speed, Equestrian's Gloves, Boots of Speed/Angel's Wings, a visit to the Stable.....  and i've got an omnipresent police in my hands.

and no Estates puhleeez.

Which skill we learn is conditional upon the situation....
But I think we always need Logistic.
Tactics, Offense, Armorer are also my favourites skill.... Earth Magic for Town Portal
And Air Magic, if we can use Fly and Dimension Door

You always prefer magic to might, don't you?

In general, I find a good lineup to be:
Offense
Armorer
Logistics
Wisdom
Earth Magic (Shield, Slow, TP, Implosion, Resurrection, etc.)
Water OR Air Magic (expert Cure/Dispel/Bless/Teleport/Clone is useful, Ice Bolt has low mana use...Haste and Lightning Bolt are also good, with DD and Fly later)

Those 6 are my absolute must-haves. I'll throw in Pathfinding if the map is really bad; Archery if I'm Castle, Tower, Dungeon, Stronghold, or Conflux; another magic if I'm a super-magic Hero (I tend to choose Fire last...I avoid Berserk for honor purposes, so I pretty much only use expert Curse).  I know it seems heavy on the magic, but I believe all heroes should know at least 1 expert magic along with Wisdom. I also hate the rest of the magic secondaries, and they're more common.

I avoid Leadership and Luck unless I start with them or if I'm in a pinch while leveling up, and I guess they're not terrible, but definitely not the best usage of space since you can just get artifacts or get bonuses from the adventure map.

First Aid and Eagle Eye are downright offensive. Period. So is Scholar on my main hero. I find Mysticism to be quite useless, too. It's not difficult to find a well or a town to stay in for a night---just plan your moves so that you can land in a town with little movement left and not feel guilty about staying there. Besides, the mana regenerating artifacts are very common (ranked as "Treasure") and do Mysticism for you, if you need it. Artillery honestly doesn't appeal unless I do poorly spell-wise. Also, I respect the choice of Intelligence as a top 8 skill, but I don't usually choose it myself. It's not bad, I just find myself playing larger maps where I have the chance to build up knowledge if I need it. Resistance can also be cute, but I sort of never get it.

My ideal skill set on a might hero would probably be:

Wisdom
Logistics
Intelligence
Offence
Earth OR Water (depends on what spells I have)
Tactics
Ballistics
Leadership

Maximum of morale: 3.
Use all troop of a single town we have 1.
A Badge of Courage bring me 1 (and also help troop immune to mind spells) and visiting a temple or fountain bring 1!
Even, you can +1 morale with angel.......
So, is Leadership useful??? Blah blah.....

Just for Main heroes/frontline)
-Leadership is very important to make more attack movement
-Logistic to make your heroes have more movement in the land especially to catch another enemy
-Luck,max attack
-wisdom learn advanced spell
-ballistic, kick the castle easely
-offense,extra damage
-Archery, if you have ranged creature is very usefull
-navigation/pathfinding

For support heroes
-Logistic, is always need
-armorer, better defense
-scholar, to teach magic for main heroes
-wisdom, learn spell well
-sorcery,it just for simply cover for all magic better than you choose any water, fire, earth...
-Leadership,make more movement
-tactic,for better placement creature
-luck, lucky creature

just for skill like:  diplomacy, water, fire, earth, wind, learning, eagle eye, all can be replace by using artifact

Also luck and leadership can be achieved without artifacts, thus making them worthless.

I believe that eagle eye percent from artifacts does not count unless you have the skill and same goes with diplomacy (like it matters because eagle eye is bad and diplomacy is banned from every game anyway). Also there is no artifact that gives you experience bonus like learning does, but I agree that it is a bad skill.

Magic Schools..depends a lot on the town i play, but earth is always a must have. I wouldn´t want air with tower for example usually, with stronghold or fortress it is good.

Mostly it is always the same skills that i look for besides that:
Log..Off..Armorer..Archery with tower..Tactics..Pathfinding on randoms and certain maps..Wisdom usually but not always (not with a tome for example)..Artillery in rare cases (Barbarian main and a hero that has one helps a ton early in the game).

The rest usually sucks.

That is correct, though the Diplomacy artifacts only reduce the cost of surrendering; they do not affect the "negotiate with wandering monsters ..." part.

Learning and Eagle Eye are the two worst skills of the game. At any time in a game the effect of having learning will mean that the hero has at most one level of experience more than he otherwise would.

1. Wisdom
2. Sorcery
3. Intelligence
4. Armorer / Resistance
5. Fire Magic
6. Earth Magic
7. Air Magec
8. Water Magic

This happenes very rarely, so I just want Wisdom and at least 2 kinds of magic. For WoG i preffer Sorcery, You get really good bonuses with it.
