Here are the skills i go for in prioritized order:
(of course I sometimes choose diffrently due to town choice and template)

1. logistics (speed is everything)

2. earth magic (mass slow is very important killing     huge stacks of noneshooters, the best spell in the game)

3. offense (your powerstacks need to do some damage)

4. air magic (view air, mass haste is very important for mainfight)

5. armorer (keeps things alive)

6. tactics (makes many battles, especially vs shooters, so much easier, can be very helpfull placing fodder or lvl 7 creatures within striking distance to get the enemy forward)

7. pathfinding (speed again, but not nearly as important as logistics)

8. resistance (so funny when opponents implosion is resisted, after mass haste its a good thing that some troops resists the mass slow counter)

9. archery (doing more damage is allways nice)

10. wisdom (often not very important because guilds are so expensive and u can get high level spells from books, hate to get empty boxes though)

11. scouting (can save u a lot of movement not going in the wrong direction)

12. fire magic (beserk and curse can be usefull, but since u can only use one spell pr. round u normally dont need more than earth and air)

13. water magic (bless, cure, prayer can be usefull too)

tactics as 6th slot?

id take it ahead of both air magic and armorer.

and scouting on main is a waste of space, better leave the scouting to the scouts

Finally having wisdom is always good.

My skills in prefered order:

1. Earth (To get expert slow early, for me that is much more important than getting log. To run into a horde of level 6 units from longer distance doesnīt help to beat them (if no expert slow), coz u donīt get a jousting bonus for your hero..)

2. Logistics (Speed is very important)

3. Armorer (Ask Tazar for more infos...)

4. Offense (Ask Crag Hack for more infos...)

5. Tactics (As already mentioned, it makes many fights so much easier...)

6. Water (Yes..i always prefer water before air. Only one air spell is really good and used often, haste. But mass cure, mass bless, mass prayer, expert clone, expert forgetfullness, expert teleport....much more usefull in my eyes ...)

7. Pathfinding/Resistance/Leadership (depends on town/map/main hero. Most treasure areas are desert, so path is cool, resistance can decide the endfight sometimes, and i find moral more and more usefull. Sometimes unbelievable how often opponent can get moral in one fight (What do u think Rusty?..))

8. Wisdom/Archery/Artillery (Depends on towns, wisdom helps when u donīt have an utopia/tome in your area to get good level 4 spells, archery only usefull for Tower,Castle and Dungeon in my eyes, Artillery when having a barbarian as main)

Expert clone is hard to cast without Advanced Wisdom, unless, of course, you have a tome or scroll. Are they really so common?

U dont find view air usefull??

Sir Steven, tactics can be more usefull than armorer in many games so maybe it should be 5th, but i still find air better than tactics. If u enter a mainfight with only earth magic u can very quickly find urself in deap trouble

hey thats my order:

EARTH (but u almost never get it first, i think i had it only 1 game first)
LOGISTIC (because u can travel more and gain more experience)
OFFENCE (got it almost always)
DEFENCE
AIR OR WATER (depends if i got earth already i will pick probably water, on what spells i got and etc, mostly it is air though)
ARCHERY
LEADERSHIP
and finall which i almost never take but i think it is could be important is resistance because game ago it saved me, without it i would of been a dead meat

U dont find view air usefull??

Sure i do.

But mass bless or mass cure is much more usefull for me. View air was usefull for me when i played the original templates of 3do, where u didnīt know what the template will look like. But nowadays, u know how the mostly played templates (jebus, BB, Extreme, Extreme II, balance....) look in general. In faster maps like jebus, itīs not interesting for me to see where my opponents heroes or towns are. You try to break in the middle week 3 day 1 in most of the times...no matter what your opponent is doing. Send a scout in front to see if u will meet him soon. View earth will help ya to see where the towns are located, so u donīt need view air for that. You also can see the terrain with view earth, so you can locate your opponents starting town as well..

But i know how many times expert cure saved me in final battle. If opponent starts to blind your units every turn. When u play against fortress, the town with the most creature special abilities, u could suffer weakness, poison, petrifying after round 2. All gone with mass cure. Imagine you casted expert slow and expert haste in a row. On my turn, i cast expert dispel. Your both mass spells are gone with only one spell casted from me.
And expert bless has MORE value than expert offense with some towns. Fortress for example, where the units have big damage ratios.
Expert offense = +30% damage
Expert bless on Hydra (25-45 damage) = could be up to +90% damage. Very often underestimated..

I needed a bit of experience to get used to expert water, but i donīt wanna miss it now.

Very educational! I had used mass cure a time or two but underestimated it.

Thank you.

First of all, its Stiven. Not Steven, stephen or stiv.

And you are correct, but that tactics can give you much better position in the mainfight as you can clear the map faster and expand faster... and clear treasure zone(s) faster.

Mass haste in map clearing maps are alot less valuable (for the tactics reasons you pointed out or atleast hinted too).

As for spankelitos discussion its n00b talk.

Whats the point in lets say dispelling a stronghold army when it has already attacked you mass hasted and you are as good as dead? Whats the use in mass blessing your half dead army?

Clone is a great spell, as is teleport.

Though what battle is about is gaining an advantage, whereas you mass haste your mass slowed units. You mass slow your opponents mass hasted units.

You dont just remove his advantage, then he will just gain it over again next round and you are getting your little spankelito spanked again

Air brings advantages and a superior move in first battle round in the mass attack. Because once hasted mostly all your units attack before your opponent gets another move due to the big speed bonus.

Water brings its best attack options in teleporting a powerful unit or cloning an existing one. But removing a opponents advantage only with dispel/cure does never give you an edge. Therefor its n00b crap and it sucks.

oh and btw, your bless vs offense reasoning is n00bish aswell.

The 30% offense bonus is always there.

For the mass bless spell you need spell points and you waste your spell of the round.

Thats a big thing to remember.

thats because you got no strategy to discuss, youre a n00b

just the fact that you build your argument up on my activity rather than skills kinda proves that you got nothing.. now go spank your spankelito instead
