...that speech is around two pages long, and I used to have another one, with all the more "humorous" parts in it, but since that would run too long, I cut them all out...and since I didn't save it...my apologies, but I don't think I'll go back and change it, just for your benefit

Another advantage of stupidity is that stupid people are always remembered, even after graduation day.

I knew a man who said cats were stupid and dogs were smart.  But no man I know ever got a team of 9 cats to pull a 300 pound sled for miles in freezing weather.

so who's the stupid one?

I'm with Milena here... if I look like a fool, I can sometimes hear interesting things from people.  Useful things.

There are types of stupidity too... there are people who are book-smart and people-stupid at the same time.  These people have trouble fitting well into social situations and some can have a hard time ordering hamburgers face to face.  These people often work as computer scientists.  They have great ideas but they trip all over themselves when they try to express it in anything other than hexadecimal... like english, for example.  Except the ones that are also art-smart as well... these guys become often computer game writers and artists, or compose music with elaborate synthesizer setups.

There are people who can't get through a book to save their life... often because it bores them.  They're people-smart but they often have a hard time in institutional learning situations.  These people are fun and some could charm the claws off a gryphon, if you know what I mean.  They know how to deal with people.  Some of them are art-smart as well and earn a living as a professional illustrator.

I have met few people that I would be willing to say that they are well and truly stupid on all counts.... better to say I'm a big proponent of Urban Darwinianism.

Long live the darwin awards.

Question for RMS

Hey, RMS, have you held that speech yet? Please tell. If not, I have some comments, but if you've already held it, what's the difference, right?

...well no, I haven delivered it yet...and since I'm going to around the 18th person (not exactly sure) to say it, there's still plenty of time for revisions (probably at least for another 2 weeks)...so please do tell
...anything is welcome, because I sure don't want to be the one to look stupid

...well, I guess there's no justice in the world now, is there? Heh, I might just decide to do that, but until I award some, further back in the archives, I don't think that would be quite fair

So, just because I have no job, attend college for the pure purpose of living off a student loan, skip class, spend my days playing HOMM games and playing guitar, say "PREET POOT" every ten minutes, and ace every test I take, I'm stupid?  I think not.  I have several talents: people always told me I was good at Math, or that I had a talent for languages, but that I refused to apply myself.  The fact is, I'd rather play guitar.  Does this make me stupid?

Ummm, yeah it does make you stupid.   To paraphrase Robert De Niro from "A Bronx Tale", "There is nothing sadder in life than a waste of talent."

If you have these gifts, utilize them.  Otherwise you're just a waste of skin.

I would think that I'd be stupid if I tried to make a career out of my "aptitude" for learning languages, which DOES NOT appeal to me at all, rather than following my heart and doing something that I'd enjoy doing (i.e. music.)

I mean, everyone says to find a job you enjoy, but what if you enjoy nothing.

Right now, i'm earning next to nothing.  If I applied myself, I might someday be "well off," but I wouldn't enjoy it.

Simply put, what I do to earn money is more important to me than how much I earn.
