"Not right now.  I really need to change and a bath.  Sam can keep you company.  Dealing with the Prince always makes me feel like taking a bath." Without thought or care that somebody else is in the room she gets ready to go into the tub.  Deffinately not shy this one.  "So," she says through the walls of the bathroom "what brought you to the scene of all that chaos earlier?"

A police officer stopped Esenin as he approached the burning ruins.

"I'm afraid you can't go any further, sir."

Esenin looked him right in the eyes and said, with a bit different voice than usual:
"Look, puppy, there's a cat in the dumpster!"

After those strange words, the policeman started barking and frenziedly jumped in a nearby dumpster.
Esenin continued carefully. If any policemen saw him now, they'd probably take him in custody. Or at least try to. It would get messy anyhow.

He remembered a scene like this. Not clearly, without any details, but he did get a deja-vu. Except it was a larger building.

"What was it?" he talked, as he browsed the flaming ruins. He tried to get the picture together. "Someone was chasing the guy... Why? They wore uniforms, so they were either from the military or on a mask party... Or soldiers on a mask party... Except they weren't masked then."

Then it was all gone, his thoughts (or what was left of them) went in an entirely different and rather pointless direction.

"Why would soldiers break into a mask party? Maybe it was organized by Bin Laden or something... What, military or the party? Both perhaps... Meh."

He looked around himself. Now he was standing in the middle of the place. He was lucky that the firemen had put the fire out about half an hour ago; vampires cannot stand fire. It's like tinier versions of the Sun. Except fire, unlike the Sun, doesn't kill them instantly.

He saw a few burnt skeletons. There was a decapitated body there also, but some carbonated flesh still remained on it; it wasn't a pure skeleton like the other bodies. And there was blood. A LOT of blood, everywhere around.

Esenin first approached the decapitated body.

"Ordinary human... A bit too crispy for me..."

After losing interest in that, he turned to the skeletons. Something characteristic for vampires is that when they are killed, their flesh turns to ash and only the skeleton remains.

"Now you... You're different, aren't you? Naughty vampires, eh? The prince will probably be a bit nervous about this."

Then he heard several quick footsteps and, before he could do anything, another policeman was in the room, pointing his gun at him.

"Freeze!"

"Melt."

The policeman fell over and started screaming, rubbing his hands everywhere on himself.

"Sorry..." Esenin whispered. The human will get back to normal in a few minutes anyway. He'll realize he isn't really melting so it will be alright. Probably.

When other cops burst in to see what's happening, they just found their colleague screaming on the ground, with no one else around.

Finnegan looked the young vampire up and down. he had seen naked women before, but Delilah had a way of undressing that made him feel like he was a thirteen year-old boy with a hole in his pocket. he shifted himself away from the ghoul trying to poke dog food underneath his nose.
"i had a run in with that idiot Renbar." he said "you know, big, bald, Tzimince, has a meat hook in his skin. thinks he's the ****s because he doesn't have to abide by the masquerade. anyway, he was going to torch the bar, so i gave him a piece of my mind, along with a molotov cocktail to boot. i doubt he will be bothering us anymore, seeing as he was trapped in a burning building and has no qualm about making himself noticed. no, not that kind..." he turned to Sam, who was saying "Doggy" quietly, "i'm a wolf... you know, a wolf... eats meat and howls at the moon?" Sam got the message as stumbled out.
"anyway," Finnegan continued "I'm going to have to shack up here for a day, i'll be gone by evening. wolf form takes a day to get out of. even if i wasn't in wolf form, i need to get the police off my tail after getting Renbar killed. i heard that there was a bounty on his head...3,000 dollars was it?"

Sam goes into the bathroom, and a bit later Delilah comes back out fully dressed.   She laughs "I would love to be a fly on the wall when the prince hears about all this.  Would make my eternity.  Still, I can not help shake the feeling that something is coming our way..." she drifts off for a second.  "Anyhow, you can stay as long as you need as long as you don't mind Sam, and don't harm her either.  She will only do what I ask her to, so is completely harmless.  I am going to have to go out of town soon, more then welcome to come with us.  Vegas.  Never been to sin city, and it will only be for a week, but I think it will be interesting.  Though perhaps I should look into all the weird things happening.." she talks in what almost is one long sentance, breathlessly.

"Anyhow, maybe something will be said on the news.  Dawn should not be too far away, I think I am going to call it a night.  Sleep wherever you wish, Sam always shares a bed with me.  Tommorrow perhaps you would like to go shoping?  Me and Sam love to shop, though she has better taste in clothing then I."

Finnegan smiled.
"i'll skip it thanks. i've heard that there is another bounty for an assamite. i might go after him... but he has evaded all bounty hunters so far. he is some kind of clairvoyant." he grinned, "this is going to be interesting."
he then curled up on the floor and went to sleep.

"Do you know what it is," I ask, "to live forever?"
I take a deep drag of the cigarette and drop it, still smoking on the concrete floor. The smoke crawls down my throat burning as heart pounds against the cage that contains it.

He just sits there.
This is the defining moment of his life and he doesn't even know it.
Sweat pours down his brow and into his eyes and mouth and off of his chin, danging there for that one moment before crashing down onto the ground below.
And he just sits there.
“Every great man there ever was had a woman, Atar.” I say as I circle his chair, around walking around the room.
“Odysseus had Penelope.”
A cool breeze blows through the window into the dark apartment.
“Mark Antony had Cleopatra.”
The man struggles in vain to move, writhing.
“Napoleon had Josephine.”
His struggle is lost in the sound of the cars and the city outside, escaping into the night.
“Even Einstein had a wife, Atar.”
I check that the handgun is loaded, and point the gun to his head.
“Do you refuse greatness?”

I laugh to myself. "You really don't know who she was, do you?"
I sit down next to him and press the cold barrel of the gun harder, harder into his temple.
"You're ****ed," Atar says to me, his voice quivering as he gives up hope of escaping from the rope that binds him to his chair. "All of you."

"Yeah," I say. "Maybe."
I stand up from the steel chair, its legs scraping against the floor as I push it back.
"Maybe, this whole deal is ****ed."
I light up another cigarette and breathe out heavily; the smoke blows into his eyes, becoming red as his blood fills creeps through their veins.
"Maybe, I don't know what I'm doing."
I press the gun harder and tears mingle with the sweat in this cold, cold night.
"Maybe, we're all slaves to greed and money and hunger and lust and fury and everything that they talk about to make you feel sad at night,"
I crouch down and whisper in his ear.
"But in the real world, Atar, none of this **** really matters, and what it comes down to is that you've crossed someone who doesn't like to be ****ed with, and yet you're still here in your ****hole apartment watching the late night news."
I pull the safety catch back. "And that's the problem."

I stand up as Atar turns to me, a weak smile across his face.
"Please..." He says. They all beg, in time.
"Tell me," I stare into his eyes, gun poised. "Do you really want to live?"
"Yes," he sobs.

I smile.
"Bull****."

I pull the trigger.

He made like 20 and  tied them in 2 bundles with a cord. The sun was near the horizon, not much time is remaining... soon the world will theirs again... soon they will come out of theirs coffins and hiding-places and then they will start to kill again.

Now he was near the river, he droped the bundles in the water and tied the cords on a tree near the river. Now he was ready to go back to his cave.

1003 years before the modern times

"No, nooo have mercy!"
"Don't squeal! I'm here to CUT your miserable existence...", said Varav'Zall to the clan leaders. "I'm here, to lead all the clans and stop this insanity - the Masquerade... and you... you are not in my plans!", he was ready to sink teeth in his enemy.

"Stay where you are!", heard Varav somewhere behind his back, he turned slowly and saw a human holding a white rose in his hands.

"Human?!", screamed Varav the Zall "You are even not one of us... vampire, they can't even touch this holy flower... Foolish creature, you'll be lucky if they turn you into ghoul, instead of stinking corpse."

The clan leader managed to stand up, he took his thin sword from the ground and plunged the blade with great speed in giant's back, the sword stabed in Varav's heart.

"Ahhh", squall Varav.

"Hurry! Bring the net! This can slow him up for a moment!", the other vampires in the room, threw the net on Varav, he was stooping.

"In the name of God...", started the man with the rose. "Tramp all shadows in the netherworld, you'll never see the moon again, for thousand years!", Varav  fell down lifeless. "Seal him in his coffin and drop the coffin the river... we'll not see him again... soon..."

The vampire is typical of the Toreador Prince's Lords and holds himself in disgustingly high esteem.
In fact, it amazes me how he even get's a sentence like that out without falling into admiration.

I pull up a dark sack and drop it on the desk with a confirming 'thud'. The beautiful young girl sitting on his lap stands up, in shock.
I take out a cigarette. They're all the same.

"That's a shame," I say, lighting up. "Your Atar was deep in regret after our little chat." The vampire's eyes lit up. The Toreador vampire raised a hand and indicated for the two dancers to leave. "Maybe Macbeth was right after all; nothing in his life became him like the leaving it."

"Hmm... yet again you surprise me, Snake." The vampire says as he grasps the bag with both long, delicate fingers and opens it as if he doubted that the grisly, severed head was real. "And Camilla?" He asks.

"The girl?"
He looks up.
"Girl..." He pauses. "Love, Snake, is a powerful, grasping, drowning thing..." He kisses one of the girls as she leaves, and pours two goblets. "Blood, on the other hand, is an acquired taste that soon comes to outweigh the... baser pleasures in life." He hands me the glass.
"That much the man had in him." I smile, taking the drink from him.
"But not love." He says.
I drink the goblet dry. Yeah, yeah, beaurocratic bull**** comes naturally.
"And theres no one if not my Prince who knows this." The vampire takes a sip as his pretty eyes widen.

"Now tell me... Where is Camilla?" He asks.

I put the goblet down and stand up.

"Well, Romeo, she was gone when I left." I lie.

"Life is tricky with enchanting pathos
That is why it is so powerful, and
It composes its pernicious letters
With its outrageous, rugged hand..."

Esenin recited as he tried to unlock his apartment door. But then he saw they were already unlocked. He carefully opened it, glancing into the darkness, as all the lights were out.

Then a voice said:

"...When I close my eyes I tacitly declare:
Touch your heart and you will plainly see,
Life is fraudulent, but here and there
It embellishes deceit with trickery."

Esenin smiled.

"Life's composed of singing in the dark..."

Then the lights turned on.

"Yes, child of Malkav" answered a Tremere sitting on his sofa, "until someone brings the light."

Esenin took off his coat. "How long has it been, Hermes?"

"What I never understood is why you Malkavians never call people by their names. You always call them just by the nicknames you give them."

"Hermes is your name. In my mind. How the rest of the world calls you is no concern of mine" Esenin said honestly.

"Indeed..." said the Tremere. "Well, perhaps it is best that way. Be that as it may, I believe you've seen the explosion?"

"Well, the Tremere know everything," said Esenin with a smile. "Like brains with tiny legs and arms and spells that can make people vomit their organs out..."

"Oh, we certainly don't know everything, but let's just say we're informed of matters that interest us. Now, about the subject...?"

"There were several vampire remains there" Esenin's mind became strangely direct. "Most likely Sabbat."

The Tremere's face became more serious. "Again? They're spraying out like mushrooms... After the one-year period of inactivity. I am concerned..."

"Of course you are. You are always concerned. You're a Tremere, it is your job to be concerned."

"Perhaps we shouldn't be telling you this, or enlisting you for the task. But you have proven worthy over the years. Considering your skills and even reliability - beside your Malkavian nature - we have no one more suitable then you."

"We? You hear the voices too?"

"By 'we', I mean the Camarilla. Let us take a walk, I'll explain it to you along the way."

Apon awaking the next night, Delilah wakes Sam and prepairs to go shoping.  "See if our new friend has changed his mind about shopping with us.  Unless of course he has departed sometime in the night." Delilah sounds almost sad this might be the case.

While Sam checks to see if the guest has departed, or changed his mind, Delilah starts to call for a Taxi.  She stops short of picking up the phone.  Something is not right.  Suddenly she is sprinting to go find Sam.  Three figures burst through the door.  One is an Assamite, the other two probably ghouls or one of the other neutral clans.

Scrambling, she uses her Ventrue ability.  Pointing to one she says.  "He is your enemy!  Kill him!" the other two pause, but then turn on the other.  Totally shocked, he is unable to do anything before he is killed.  Unfortunately, it is doubtful that tactic will work a second time.  "Sam!  Sam, get out of here!  Don't worry about me, just go!" she commands.

She scrambles for the weapons she keeps stashed about the place, not knowing if the man from last night has left or is safe.  She doesn't worry about that for now.  She has to try to buy room for Sam to escape.  The sound of gunfire makes the two duck for cover, though at least one it probably wouldn't kill, it would sure hurt like heck.

I slam the door shut as I walk back into the apartment; I drop my bourbon as she pounces on me, her arms around my neck, and kisses me passionately.
The bottle smashes on the floor.
I take a deep breath as she pulls back.
"Camilla." I say, smiling; the scent of perfume and innocence was overpowering.
"Where have you been?" She asks, pulling me by the arm into the low lit room.

I take off my coat and gun and place them on the table.
"I had to sort out that boy of yours." I said, lighting up a cigarette.
"Oh Snake," She said, smiling as she lay down on the bed. "Why do you always have to do this? Killing over petty quarrels and boys..."

"You know, along time ago, men had to kill to survive."
"Not anymore, Snake."
"No, not anymore, because some bright spark invented this thing called money." I take out the cash from my pocket and hold it in my hand. "Now, a man can do whatever he likes and yet he gets paid for it and can still eat and sleep... Don't you ever wonder, Camilla?"
She sighed.
"The world is a dark, dark place, and I'm thinking, maybe that hunting instinct isn't the last thing we need." I take a deep drag of the cigarette. "And who are they to say I can't fight and kill to survive, the way it was meant to be? The blood, Camilla, is so very sweet." I laugh to myself.
"And hey," I say, "I get payed for it."
I take another drag of my cigarette and put my wallet down on the table next to my handgun. The ultimate hypocricy.

She smiles.
"You and your little speeches," she says.
Camilla stands up and puts on her coat.
"You know how it is," I say. I hold her by the chin and kiss her cheek. It tastes of smoke. Ash. Fire.
"Wait... Where have you been?" I ask.

She wraps her arms around herself.
"There was an explosion," she says. "A building, out in the street."
"What building?" I ask. Buildings don't just blow up, these days. At least not in Boston.
"I don't know... tall, dark. People were hurt, Snake."

She looks out the window, out into the night.
"It's late." She says. "I have somewhere to be." Her eyes shine, like the sun.
"I bet you do," I say, putting the cigarette out in the tray. My smile meets hers.

"Snake," She says.
"Camilla," I say.
"Don't be cute with me."

She walks out the door.

"Exactly one thousand and three years ago," the Tremere said as they were walking down the street, "a Lasombra warlord named Varav'Zall ruled the young death cult known as the Sabbat."

"I have never heard of this lord of war..."

"You weren't supposed to. His name was erased from the books and lives only in the ancient legends available only to a chosen few - most of which are of Tremere blood. It has been deemed best that the memory of him vanquishes, but some of us knew we will have to do something, if he... rises again."

They made a turn in a street to their left.

"Shall you tell me what the legend says or are you going to hide in your Tremere secrecy for the rest of the night?" Esenin said. He wasn't impatient or nervous, he was just getting bored. He was putting as much effort as he could in order to make his mind follow Hermes' words.

"You Malkavians... Varav'Zall, through a careful net of conspiracy and scheming, has managed to defeat several European Camarilla elders. As you know, draining an elder's blood will grant you the power he possessed, so Varav was more powerful than most of the elders at the time. But Varav's thirst for power did not stop there; under the mask of peace, he called the remaining elders to his domain to discuss political issues. There, he planned on defeating and draining them. With no elders to compete with, he would become the utter ruler of Europe. And it would be so if it weren't for a human priest known only as the White Rose."

"A priest?"

"Yes. And not an ordinary priest; he was of a bloodline that, as it is considered, was blessed by..." here the Tremere made a small pause, "a strong divine power. Seemingly, when it was most needed, that power would manifest itself as a single white rose and could seriously cripple any undead creature in existence. But, the legend says, that could be done only once in the lifetime of a White Rose, after which the bearer would... die."

"So Varav'Zall has awakened, that is what you are saying."

"All the signs suggest so. And without a White Rose, that might mean an end to us all."

"Was the medieval priest the last of the White Rose bloodline?"

The Tremere opened his mouth, but then they heard screams from a street close by.

"STOP IT! LET ME GO!"

Esenin ran toward the voice; it was familiar. The Tremere followed, a bit unwillingly.

It was a girl. THE girl. Surrounded by three shady figures. As Esenin took a better look, he saw that they were two human figures - ghouls, probably - and a Nosferatu.

"Would you stop screaming!" the Nosferatu said. He glanced into her terrified eyes. "Your scent... You are a song to my scarred body. Do not be afraid. The Prince wants to see you. The Prince wants you."

"What Prince? What are you talking about? Who... what are you?"

"Enough talk. Grab her mouth so that she doesn't scream" he told to a ghoul, which obeyed.

"Child of the sewers" Esenin said. The Nosferatu turned around in anger. "Step away."

"We are to take this human to the Prince, child of madness... Do not forget your authorities."

"Prince or not, this one will not be harmed." Esenin was dead serious.

"Maybe your Tremere friend can bring you to reason, before a blood hunt is called upon you..." the Nosferatu said, threatening.

The Tremere stared into the girl's eyes. He immediately seemed to understand something. Without a word, he raised his hand and knocked the Nosferatu back.

The ghouls charged in a frenzied attack. In a matter of second, Esenin reached for his coat and took out a sawn-off shotgun. He remembered a training session from his living days; but nothing else about it - just a gray room where he trained. Where, how, with what cause, he did not know.
But it didn't matter. He shot one ghoul, knocked out another with his shotgun, and tripped the third with his legs. After that, in one quick move, he broke his neck.
In the meantime, the Tremere merely snapped his fingers toward the Nosferatu, whose meat finally turned to ash, and soon all that remained was a laying skeleton.

"The Prince's earthly indulges are far below his status. This girl is needed elsewhere" the Tremere said.

"Thank you, Hermes" Esenin said. Then he worriedly turned to the girl which was just staring in shock. He was going to ask her how she was, but he suddenly fell on his knees and started choking.

"Unfortunately, my Malkavian friend, you have seen too much. Good fortune has just sent me what I wanted you to find, so I will not be needing you anymore; you would be just an obstacle. As for the Prince, you got insane and died in combat with his men; while the girl has disappeared. That sounds realistic enough. Nothing personal."

Choking became more and more intense.

Why do all those cults want that girl? Demogorgon thought, Maybe if would be better if I got her away from there and find out. He slid down from the rooftop and grabbed the girl around the mouth to stop her from screaming. One of the other vampires seemed to be choked, and the other one stood with his back against Demogorgon. He lifted the girl up in his arms, and without a sound he were up the latter and up on the roof again. He looked at the girl.

"I will remove my hand from your mouth if you promise you won't scream." he said, "I don't know what they want to do with you, but I will find out."

She nodded, and he removed the hand.

"Who are you?" she whispered.

"Not here, I will talk to you later." Demogorgon said, and cradled her better in his arms. "Hang on, I will have to get to another rooftop to avoid being followed. It will be a little flight, but do not scream, nor become afraid."

She stared up into his eyes, and he started running toward the edge of the roof.

"Do not scream." Demogorgon repeated.

Then he jumped, and flew silently over to the next rooftop more than ten yards away. He repeated the action, and within a couple of minutes he were several blocks away from where he had taken the girl.

"Now tell me, why do you think they wanted you?" Demogorgon asked, and let her out of his arms onto the ground.

"I have no idea." she answered, "But what ... and who are you? And they?"

"I don't know who they are, but a few ghouls and two vampires." Demogorgon answered, the fear shone from her eyes. "I am a vampire myself, although I do not kill without a mission. I do what I can mostly to make sure no victims are being taken without reason. And especially a young girl like you, I don't see what threat you can be to them. My name no one remembers, but you can call me Demogorgon."

Finnegan saw Delilah and Sam attack the Assamite. he looked over his list of bounties...
"here,"
Crow, $2000, has the ability heat up the surrounding area through touch, up to 1000 degree Fahrenheit. if Delilah was going to be grabbed by him, she would turn into a human roast faster than you could say "Ow". what should he do? he was out of wolf form, armed with a durk that would probably melt touching the ba$tard and a fiddle. he looked around, his armoury of drinks wouldn't help, the guy was probably immune to fire attacks. it was hopeless

wait a minute, he could create a distraction at the very least. he grabbed his fiddle.
"Hello, friend, would you like to hear a song?"
Crow turned around.
"alright, play."
Delilah ran as Finnegan began
"oh, when i came home form the pub last night, as drunk as drunk could be!"
Finnegan began to gesture with head, desperately trying to give Delilah and Sam the message. he felt himself sweating like he was on heat. he looked up from his playing, during the second verse to see that crow was visibly glowing, his eyes turning red.
"This is really beginning to bore me, popey paddy scum! i could get better music from a drowning cat! i wish that all you useless leprechauns would go and die. your little friend is a weak loser who should have just crawled back to her rock with her ghoul and lain there to die!"
he punched the wall, it melted.
"this kind of power is available to those who are right in everything they do! religion, music, friends, country! you are so badly out of it, you're an eyesore, Die!"
he ran at Finnegan, his arm outstretched for the punch.

he got no further, his arm caught in a network of thin wires. Finnegan stood there, his hands in gloves with wires coming out of them.
"finished?" he said, voice, thick with hatred. "while you were spouting your nationalist rubbish, you didn't notice my "Harp" strings... don't bother to try and break out." he said as Crow struggled with them around his right arm and left leg. "these wires are microphilament wires, can be heated up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit and not melt, and... blessed in a mixture of holy water and alcohol!" Crow screamed as his arm and leg caught fire with emerald flames.
"First you insult my religion,"
a sharp tug on the arm, it ripped off, crow screaming in pain.
"second, you insult my music!"
Finnegan stood Infront of crow, and in one swift movement kicked him in the testicales and ripped his leg off.
"thirdly you insult my country!"
Flitting around crow, drawing a clover mark on his chest with his Durk, pouring whiskey into it.
"the final blow I'm going to leave to delilah, you insulted my friend, so this should be the killing blow." he looked over at a flabagasted Delilah.
"he's all your's, cheers for letting me stay around your place."
he flitted off.

"STOP IT! LET ME GO!" Camilla's voice echoes from out in the street.
I drop my cigarette.
My heart stops.

Within a moment, I grab my gun and blade and leap to the door; her innocent voice was not meant to scream, who could do this?
My pounding heart reminds me that I'm still alive.

I swing the door wide open and race down the stairs.
Bomb, screaming, what is happening this night? I could taste it in the air; something big was in the works.

I leap down the last few stairs and swing open the door to reveal the cold street of night;
I see the familiar alleyway, the glowing moon, motionless bodies and a skeleton, and two men.
But no girl.
"Nothing personal." One says.
A stifled cry comes from one of the men; he's being strangled by the other.
I take out my blade and run towards them.

"Hey!" I say. "What the hell is going on here?"
The man doing the strangling turns to me and says
"Do not concern yourself, mortal..."
Vampires.
The vampire being strangled looks at me; his eyes staring into mine.

A thousand tears cry from those eyes.
A thousand tears for every death that should have been.

A river of guilt from those tears overcomes me.
Suddenly, I'm standing in an open field.
I spin around; there is no one about, except one.
One child stands in the vast emptiness, the one thing between me and the horizon.
The child is crying.
'Save me, serpent...' he cries, and then grasps his neck and screams as if he is being strangled.

The boy turns to a long haired vampire, and the field turns back to that familiar alleyway.
Not a moment has passed.
Suddenly, it is all so clear.

"Mortal?" I ask, running towards them.
The Tremere vampire drops the second and begins to turn to me, reaching out; blocking his hand I draw my blade.
I grab him by the neck and sink my blade into the soft flesh that is his belly.

"I'll show you what it is, to be mortal." I say.
I pull the blade up through his chest to his neck, and then kick him off into the floor. Blood pours out from his mouth like a fountain, gasping.
I pull out my gun and aim it at his head.
"And then, bliss." I say.
I pull the trigger and paint the alley with his blood.

The body of the Tremere fades to ash, leaving only bone.
I turn to the enigmatic vampire as he gets up from the ground, breathing heavily.
My moment of clarity is gone.
"Who are you?" I ask, looking around.

I glance around and the blood and bodies and death.
I can feel my blood... pulsing through my veins.
"And where is Camilla?"

Esenin got up. He was lucky he managed to give this Kindred a mental sign, despite the pain in his neck. He coughed, then stretched his neck. Then he glanced at the vampire which defeated the Tremere.
Strangely, he seemed like an Assamite of sorts... But in his eyes, he had an aura of freedom, as if he was sort of clanless. Strange.

"Questions" Esenin finally said. "Everyone just bombs with questions. The only one who offered answers just tried to choke me to death." He sighed. "Like so many of us, serpent, I have no name. But they call me Esenin."

"Great to meet you," the vampire said. "Now where's Camilla? And why did you call me a serpent?"

"You are slippery and poisonous. You come when least expected. You approach unseen and, when they do notice you, you bite. And they die. That is how you survive... Besides, everybody calls you Snake."

Snake watched Esenin carefully. "Fine. Whatever. Just tell me where the girl is."

"The girl..." Esenin seemed to remember something. He turned around and saw an empty spot where the girl was just a few moments ago. "Really, where is the girl? Gah... Much of a savior I am." Then he ran toward the spot where she was. "Her scent... it can still be felt. She was taken not long ago." He looked out in the street, and saw an emptiness. The scent disappeared. "No. Hm." Then without a word he turned around again, jumped on the ladder, and started climbing.

"Come, serpent."

Snake approached the ladders. The Malkavian was right, her scent could indeed be felt. Even without vampire senses. So gentle yet so eternal.

He started climbing.

Demogorgons head jerked up from the girls face and he looked into the air.

"We have to go." he said, "Now!"

"But why?" the girl asked, and rose.

"There are other vampires following, probably the two that were left with you before I got you out of there." he said, and lifted her up and cradled her in his arms.

"Snake isn't..."

"He is a vampire." he interrupted, "And they can both feel the scent of you. We have to go quick, I have a car not far away from here. It may remind you of snake though ... it's an AC Cobra."

He winked down at her, and then jumped down from the building, holding her neck straight so that it should not break when he hit the ground. She gave a little sound by the crash, but nothing more. He let her down, and grabbed her arm.

"Do not try to run away, you've seen what I can do and know I am faster than you." he said, "Follow me good as you can, we are going for my car."

They ran quickly through the gates, and when a beggar stumbled forward to ask for money Demogorgon broke his nose in the way by him. Within a few minutes he stopped, and the girl also did. They stood in front of a black AC Cobra, and Demogorgon grinned.

"My beauty and love." he murmured, "Now jump in and we're out of here!"

Delilah quickly finished the fight.  There would be more.  Seems the Prince was no longer wanting her around.  He was too influential to fight, even directly, it was best if her and Sam left.  She picked up her phone, grabbed Sam's hand, and bolted out the door.  She stopped only long enough to throw something on, grab her purse.  Everything here could be replaced.  The apartment could be rented out by her family to somebody else.

Right as her and Sam were about to step on the street, a black AC Cobra almost ran them down.  Just inches from being ran over, Delilah pulls Sam back.  She could feel Sam's heart beating a hundred miles an hour.  So close.  "Somebody is in a hurry..." she sensed others like her approaching.  Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide.  More of the Prince's death squad?  She prepaired her gun.  "Sam, get behind me.  If anything happens, just remember, I love you."

Blocking Sam with my body, I turn to face the direction that I feel they are coming from.  The gun in my hand feeling like a toy waterpistol.

Running along the rooftops, chasing that perfume, the Malkavian and I are surrounded by nothing but thick, black night... the kind of night that makes you feel like you're swimming.. sinking, drowning.

We cut through it like a blade.

I picked up the pace, sprinting as fast as my legs would allow me.
The aura of flowers grows stronger...
"They've stopped," I grunt.

I grab Esenin and come to a grinding halt.
I point down onto the street below.
"There." Standing below was a vampire, next to a black sports car.

And there she was.
"Now jump in and we're out of here!" The vampire said to Camilla.
Don't do it, girl.

The vampire grabs her by the collar and they jump into the car.
"****." I say.
The engine revvs.

"Well?" Esenin says. "The night descends upon them." A grin crawls across the Malkavian's face, and he leaps off the roof onto the car below, his weight nearly crushing the car bonnet.
"I'm sick of this ****..." I say, and jump on after him as the car starts to accelerate.

"What are you doing?" The vampire inside yelled, as the car sped down the street.
"Snake!" Camilla cried. "What's going on?"

I grab on to the windshield of the roofless car as the car swerves around a corner nearly taking me off balance.
Faces, streets, cars, lights flash by in an instant.
"Demogorgon!" Esenin yells.
"Madman!" The vampire, Demogorgon, reaches over, swiping at me.
Camilla reaches up but Demogorgon stops as her sweet voice cries out.

I manage to pull out my gun amidst the chaos and swirling noise, and point it towards Demogorgon's face.
"Stop the car!" I scream. Does this guy have any idea what he's doing? The magnitude of the situation?
The vampire accelerates and knocks the gun from my hand, reaching over to shove me off the side. How can anyone not know?
I flinch as Esenin blocks the swipe with one arm.
Demogorgon smiles, and presses the accelerator down flat.

I turn around:

We're heading straight for a wall.

Someone screams.
As Esenin struggles with Demogorgon, I lift my left arm up as high as I can and slam it down into the bonnet.
The metal bends around my fist, cutting my skin, dripping blood mingling with petrol.

Meters from the wall, the car skids to a halt.

Demogorgon raised slowly, the other ones were mostly disarmed and he were a master in hand-fighting. They were two and he one, but still he had a chance. With a fluid motion he were out of the car, the girl once more in his arms.

"Stay back." he snarled, warning.

"Don't you know what you are doing?" one of them said.

"Well, as a matter of fact I don't." Demogorgon said and shrugged. "Would you tell me what you want to do with this girl?" then he added in a hushed voice: "Behind me, Camilla. They are not as much your friends as they want you to think. They are vampires, and one of them are of the mad-clan too." he nodded towards the malkavian.

They started against him, but he knotted his fists and they stopped.

"You may have heard of me." Demogorgon hissed, "I am Demogorgon. Hundreds of assassinations, none failed, not even harmed. I have also killed other vampires when it has been needed, but still I am much as human as I am." he gave them a cold smile. "You should not test me, it would turn out bad for you now as you are weaponless. And besides, if you handle this right, by telling the truth, we can come out of this as friends. And the girl too."
