I don't know why people have such a hang-up on Americans calling it soccer, it's just a word.
It might seem weird, but the word soccer actually came from football. Before American football was invented when someone said "football" there was always confusion if they meant football or rugby. There was a league called Association of Football or something like that. So not to confuse it with rugby they started calling it "the Association" or "soc" for short. "Soc" eventually turned into "soccer" and the soft 'c' turned into a hard 'c'.

Russian National Team 
I would love to pick a Russian team as my favorite. For example, CSKA (Moscow), but it really hurts to see Brilliant play by the Brazilians being butchered by the rest of the team.
Unfortunately, apart from Zenit (St. Petersburg), there aren't a whole lot of good Russian teams where Russians are the best players in the team, but I don't like Zenit all that much.

I have been fan for 3 years now, i like their offensive style of play. After Finland's football team i root for Brasilia. Not because they are winning favorites rather their hearth for the game. Witch other national team members you can name all the players? England doesn't count they are all lame Ok, Gerrard and Lampart are good players.
