Well yeah it seems that I missunderstood you Minion but TA got what I ment:
Quote:
And the Japanese Rising Sun, something entirely unrelated to the matter at hand but negative all the same, makes it obvious that the derogatory depiction of the Japanese in the game is fuelled by a dislike that runs deeper than the issue at hand (whaling).
So the flag is just the icing on the cake..
And youre right too I don't like the fact that the japanese are kind of being discreminated against (but again those reasons are more or less based on what TA pointed out). The fact is that I've allmost lived half of my life here in Asia now (korea and now japan) and you get to learn a lot about their mentality and culture... Now the japanese are VERY stubborn and they they don't really care what the rest of the world thinks when they do what they really want to do. They are allways polite and they'll allways look for a diplomatic solution but when it doesn't lead to where their goal they'll just do what they think is right anyway and that's why no petition sign by foreigners will EVER stop the japanese people from doing what they do. I'm not saying that it's right to kill whales I also don't like it but the website does not seem to be quite "on topic" with that stupid game but again it's as TA pointed out.

Besides what's your problem Daystar? What purpose DO whales have? Yes just as much as Elephants... I do not say that "having no meaning" justifies killing them as they are a normal life from which has the right to live besides the japanese only do this because they consider it their culture they have no marketing profit whatsoever from it (except for aprodisiag kind of stuff [probably did't spell that right]). Killing is never right but saying what's the matter with saying that a animal is useless? (besides Elephants are far from useless go to india and you'll see for yourself they are actually very usefull)

Well whales are pretty irrelevent in the whole scheme of things for humans. But then having said that so are humans themselves probably.

But most people never see, hear or know much about whales. Im not saying its a good idea to get rid of them of course. I support helping them live the most comftorable life as far as it can be done with impeding humans too much. However as it stands theyre really kinda useless. I dont think they had much value to the ecosystem as they only eat plankton and cant be eaten by anything as far as i know. But yes we have a moral obligation to help species like them i believe that. I just dont think it matters as much as say, global warming. Or finding a more definitive cure for AIDs or cancer (if its even possible) In fact id probably be more fussed if you told me that theres a global phenomenon that one in every 50,000 million people starts to explode for no reason at all.

Right.

We shouldn't try to appeal to the wrongdoers because they have such a big determination and pride in what they do. This logic is somewhat...strange.

Also the animals have no value - if they are not of value to humans. They are considered "useless" then I Disagree.
But if I again misunderstood that, and that "useless" was meant from the ecosystems perspective, then:
Quote:
Slaughter of great whales leads to ecosystem decline
ARTIC (24 Sep 2003) -- The wildlife of the north Pacific has been devastated by a remarkable 50-year chain reaction set off by commercial whaling, scientists claimed yesterday. Numbers of sea lions, sea otters and several species of seals have crashed in recent years, because of the mass slaughter of more than 500,000 whales in the Pacific between 1949 and 1969, the researchers believe.

It seems as if we tend to missunderstand each other. I think it is right to show people that they are doing something wrong and of course their wheter their determination nor the claim that it is their culture should stop people from appealing to them. I'm just saying that it won't help. Trust me I live here I know these people. The best result you can hope for is that they'll maybe wait a bit till the issue has quited down a bit and then they'll start again. But they will keep doing it. Which does not mean that it isn't wrong.

Ok I didn't express myself probably on that one sorry. I didn't try to say that if an animal is of no use to a human it is useless. And I'm pretty sure there is no useless animal in any ecosystem because if they would be they wouldn't exist due to evolution. It's just that I personally didn't see the diffrence between an ocean with whales and an ocean without one (which prehaps is quite stupid if you think about it). In anycase I'm against whaleing because I don't particullary like the killing of animals without any gain whatsoever from it.

Ok that's a bit too extreme don't you think...? They'll never really go exstinct will they? Prehaps in 2030 industrial fishing won't be profitable anymore as you can't catch enough anymore because nature can't reproduce as much as we eat but all fish gone in 2030? I have difficulties beliveing that one.

Yes but. I dont really care about sea lions sea otters and seals that much anyway. Theyre also pretty much useless in terms of helpfulness to humans. But as i said though thats no reason to kill them or whales. Its just that i dont think its that much of an issue if they die.But i suppose your correct that them dying effects the ecosystem. its just im not sure how logically how.
EDIT:I Read the article a bit more. It doesnt mean anything except that we should murder killer whales as well.

Hmmm whales are just as useless creatures as elephants are, the only reason that I signed this petition is that they are somewhat needed to keep an ecological balance in the waters.

Now if there was a petition to rid the world of elephants I would have signed that too

why? if there would be no elephants then hundreds of other animals would die 2...
why? elephants keep the ecological balance on the african and asian lands...
