[Mod] Change your main menu background anim and menu design

Ever got tired of the Cyclops animation in ToE? Or maybe it stresses your computer a little too much? (it tends to slow it down more than H5/HoF menu animations). Now, you'll have a choice of what you want in the background: just pick your poison!
It can be the H5 or HoF menu animation, the town flyby animations, or even a static image or a black screen for those computers that need to take it slow. H5/HoF animations come with their corresponding music, and the town flyby scenes have their faction town music.

Additionally, you can further personalize your main menu interface with a version of Azard's Xazardous_Menu, colorized for the faction of your choice!

Downloads
Static backgrounds (4 images and a black screen) (9.6kb - screenshot)
H5 menu animation (3.48Mb - screenshot)
HoF menu animation (21.3Mb - screenshot)
Towns flyby animations and menu:
* PACK: all 8 flyby anims (1.13Mb), all 8 menus (9.17Mb)
* Academy: flyby, menu (screenshot)
* Dungeon: flyby, menu (screenshot)
* Fortress: flyby, menu (screenshot)
* Haven: flyby, menu (screenshot)
* Inferno: flyby, menu (screenshot)
* Necropolis: flyby, menu (screenshot)
* Stronghold: flyby, menu (screenshot)
* Sylvan: flyby, menu (screenshot)

Credits
* static: by spamm (black) and Azard (images) (I'd like confirmation here...)
* flyby: by Ylve, music added by Winfola - source
* anim_H5: by Ylve, music added by Winfola - source
* anim_HoF: by Winfola - source
* menu: based on Azard's Xazardous_Menu Mod, colorized by Ilve and Archwarlock - source

Fix
The menu mods have an issue on the LAN standard mode create screen (see page 2 of this thread) - here is a fix for it (it does NOT contain the mod, you should use BOTH the mod and the fix):

Man this is awesome, too bad my home computer does'nt have internet...
The cyclops animation did make my computer go kind of slow. I usually play the game on almost max-graphics and it really pisses me off when i go to the menu having the lag of a lifetime...
Just one question from the guy who's never used a Heroes V mod before, where exactly do i put the stuff? I promise this is my only question about modding, i will place all other questions in some other thread.

@Adrius:
You place the .h5u files in your UserMODs/ folder in the H5 installation folder. You'll find more details here:
http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=24429
And if you have questions, feel free to ask.

But I agree with you, if I posted these myself, it's because I think they deserve it.

Why don't you try and tell us?

The background anims should works.

The new menus should NOT work, because the menus are not exactly the same:
- in H5, the campaign menu should have 6 campaign slots, the new menu has only 3. If you try, hit Esc to come back to the previous menu.
- in HoF, the User Campaign and replays features are not there, so clicking on those buttons will crash the game. Also, it seems the campaign menu doesn't work, but I didn't investigate why.

Umm, I think I already know the answer to this question, but please confirm it. The flybys are just to change the animation. The menus are for the actual menu, but are not needed with the corresponding flyby. Right? Oh, and for some strange reason, WinZip sent the flyby files to the Data file. Its supposed to go to the User Mods along with the menu right? Sorry, stupid question from one such as me.

Oh and if anyone knows a way to rename all the bloody files faster than going to each of the seven-hundred files from.xbd to .h5u, please tell me.

Okay, I'm fed up. After painstakingly renaming all the four-hundred files in the flyby and putting them in the UserMods folder, triple-checking that each one had .h5u following it, I am still greeted with the dumb Cyclops flinging the same fools again! What the duck am I doing wrong!

@sith_of_ziost:
You are not supposed to rename every single file in the archive to .h5u!!
The .h5u is the zip archive itself, not the files inside it. And those mods already have .h5u extensions (unless you're using IE, in which case it might rename them to .zip - see the FAQ for details).

It's pretty simple:
- get your mouse over any flyby link: any decent browser should show you the address that is linked to (for example: http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/downloads/mods/MainMenu_flyby_Academy.h5u)
- click to download: with any decent browser should, you should then have a file named MainMenu_flyby_Academy.h5u
- place it in UserMODs/
- you're done.

If it's more complicated, blame your browser...

(btw, ACDSee, or any dedicated renamer, could have done the renaming in seconds for you)

@Lesij: all the mods work in ToE. Wich one did you try? What did you do with it?

@Daystar: glad you like it. Your question is targeted to the authors (see Credits), who are not much around (that's why I posted their work). Azard's work on the new menu is rather complex, and high-level design and modding.
Background animation replacement is simpler to understand: the anim is actually like any other arena in the game (fighting scenery, town animations, ...), and the mod is based on replacing its entry file:
\Arenas\Interface\MainMenu\MainMenu.(ArenaDesc).xdb
the rest is just the tedious gathering of the required files around.

skullman, your will to help is really appreciated, but I have to correct you on this:
- the individual flyby and menu mods are already packaged as .h5u files. Only if you're using Internet Explorer will they be silently renamed to .zip, and in this case, indeed, you should rename them back.
- a rar archive should NOT be renamed to .h5u: this would not work. The mods have to be zip archives
- if you get a rar archive in this case, it is because you downloaded the full pack (8 flybys or 8 menus pack). The .h5u mods are then inside the .rar (and no rename is necessary in this case).

@Lesij: if these advices do not help you (they should), then start by answering skullman's question, which still is a good one. Also, tell us what other mods you are using.
